IPS Empress® Direct
The aesthetics of a ceramic with the convenience of composite
IPS Empress Direct is a universal light-curing, highly aesthetic nano-hybrid composite filling
material for direct restorative procedures in the anterior and posterior region.
IPS Empress Direct provides a high gloss polish and the lifelike opacity, fluorescence and
opalescence that is required to fabricate beautiful and naturally aesthetic restorations with
remarkable efficiency.
The 32 different IPS Empress Direct materials allow you to cover a wide
range of anatomical conditions and variations. They are
divided into 13 Dentine shades, 16 Enamel
shades and 3 Translucent shades,
which are characterised by different
optical properties.
Step 1:
Tooth preparation
Step 2:
Match and replace the dentine with
the appropriate Dentine shade
(eg A2 Dentine)
Step 3:
Replace the enamel with the
appropriate Enamel shade
(eg A2 Enamel)
Step 4:
Finish and polish to a high lustre
(eg with Astropol and Astrobrush)
Optrasculpt Pad
Efficient contouring of composite materials
such as IPS Empress Direct
OptraSculpt Pad is a contouring instrument with special foam
pad attachments, which are designed for the efficient, nonstick
forming and shaping of composites.
As a result, composite materials are easy to spread, shape and
contour on the tooth surface.
Creation of smooth and even surfaces
The highly flexible synthetic foam optimally adjusts to the
tooth shape and does not leave any unwanted marks on the
composite resin. Consequently, the time consuming finishing
and polishing of the restoration is reduced to a minimum.
Professional aesthetic results
Two reference scales on the instrument handle provide useful
guidance in the creation of anterior restorations and direct
anterior veneers.

The future of composite technology
Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill
The sculptable bulk-fill composite
Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill takes the effort out of posterior
tooth restorations. This composite offers fast “bulk
placement” in increments of up to 4mm, low
shrinkage stress and optimum accuracy of fit.

As restorations can be placed in a single increment,
Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill saves dentists valuable time.
Application, sculpting, contouring and polymerisation
are accomplished up to 60% faster than with
conventional 2mm composites.
INITIA
The highly reactive Ivocerin allows the material’s translucency to be
established at a level that ensures maximum aesthetics while still enabling short
exposure times of only ten seconds (≥ 1,000 mW/cm2).
Unique, patented components such as the light initiator Ivocerin®, the light
sensitivity filter and the shrinkage stress relievers make Tetric EvoCeram Bulk
Fill so special – they give the composite a real edge in state-of-the-art bulk-fill
technology.
Tetric Evoflow®
Flowable when desired… Stable as required
The flowable nano-hybrid composite Tetric EvoFlow is ideal for
use in combination with regular-viscosity composites such
as Tetric EvoCeram and Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill.
Tetric EvoFlow is characterised by optimum
surface affinity and simultaneous stability.
It flows where it is needed and is stable when
required. The Viscosity Controller is responsible for this behaviour, as it regulates
the product’s flowability upon dispensing.
No voids remain under the restoration, even when restoring teeth in hard-toreach areas. The flowable composite Tetric EvoFlow is the ideal complement to
Tetric EvoCeram in the restoration of anterior and posterior teeth

Bluephase® Style
The smallest LED for every use
The battery-operated bluephase style offers a light intensity of
1,100 mW/cm2 and has been designed to be ergonomic down
to every detail.
A particularly handy feature of bluephase style is the light probe. Because it is
shorter than that of other known lights, all tooth surfaces can be comfortably
reached with no need for patients to keep their mouth wide open. Due to the large
10mm diameter, the light is capable of covering even large cavities, eliminating the
need for time consuming multiple curing cycles. This is particularly advantageous
in conjunction with Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill restorations, where 4mm
increments can be polymerised in as little as ten seconds.

IPS e.max® CAD
For all your CAD/CAM Needs
IPS e.max CAD is an innovative lithium
disilicate glass-ceramic (LS2) for CAD/
CAM applications. This unrivalled system
combines highly aesthetic quality with
exceptional user-friendliness.
Unlike any other CAD/CAM material, IPS e.max CAD
covers a comprehensive spectrum of indications. A
wide range of translucency levels, shades and block
sizes offer great flexibility. Tried-and-tested, coordinated cementation materials complement the system.
IPS e.max CAD is milled in a “soft” intermediate state in which the material has a characteristic bluish colour. In a swift
crystallisation process, IPS e.max CAD subsequently obtains its final high strength of 360 MPa and acquires the desired
aesthetic properties, such as tooth colour and excellent translucency and brightness.
IPS e.max CAD is synonymous with maximum aesthetics, strength and flexibility. Its success is based on many
years of clinical experience and millions of restorations placed.

CRT Caries Risk Test
Many different factors influence oral health. Eating habits, the natural resistance of the
tooth structure, microorganisms, and saliva all play an essential role in the development and
progression of caries. To achieve early diagnosis, it is important to analyse a patient’s caries
risk. Only then is it possible to fight the causes of caries and employ individual, customised
treatment measures. The CRT caries risk test enables you to do just this.
CRT bacteria
Test for determining mutans streptococci and lactobacilli counts in
saliva and plaque
High counts of mutans streptococci and/or lactobacilli indicate a high caries risk status. If protective
factors cannot take effect, carious lesions will develop. CRT bacteria provides you with fundamental
information before any changes in the tooth structure can be detected. As a result, you have the
possibility of introducing adequate counter measures at an early stage. The proven biological test CRT
bacteria allows you to clearly identify and semi-quantitatively determine cariogenic bacteria.

Maxigesic®
Make the switch for better, faster pain relief
MAXIGESIC is a patented combination of Paracetamol (500mg) and
Ibuprofen (150mg), that provides double-action relief that is clinically
proven to be more effective than Paracetamol or Ibuprofen alone¹.
These results were achieved in a New Zealand clinical trial of the postoperative pain relief of 135 patients after the removal of 1-4 wisdom teeth¹. The
trial compared Paracetamol 4000mg, Ibuprofen 1200mg and MAXIGESIC in four
divided daily doses, monitoring the patients for 48 hours following their surgery.
The trial results showed that MAXIGESIC provides pain relief that is 32.3% more
effective than Paracetamol¹ and 35.8% more effective than Ibuprofen#.
MAXIGESIC provides temporary relief for a wide range of pain including:
• Pain from dental procedures
•Toothache
• Aches and pain associated with
cold and flu

The Biological Rationale of
Root Canal Preparation
1-day Lecture/Workshop for Dentists
Presented by
Dr Hani Naoum BDS, MDS
Mechanical instrumentation is a critical step in the microbial control phase of
root canal treatment. If performed correctly, it will not only physically remove
microbes from the canal wall but also facilitate and magnify the effect of
irrigants and medications. This course will cover the biological rationale of root
canal preparation with special emphasis on managing the canal's apical third.
