Dazzle Jazz Fall Lineup to Feature
Russell Malone, Donny McCaslin, Monty Alexander, and Others
Russell Malone
September 10-11
Russell Malone is one of today’s most commanding and versatile
guitarists. He can move from blues to gospel to pop to R&B
and jazz without hesitation, a rare facility that has prompted
some of the highest profile artists in the world to call upon him,
including Diana Krall, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Harry
Connick Jr., Ron Carter, and Sonny Rollins, to name a few.
Along the way, Malone has made a name for himself by
combining the bluesy sound of Grant Green and Kenny Burrell
with the relentless attack of Django Reinhardt.
Donny McCaslin Quartet
September 20-21
Fresh off of David Bowie’s farewell recording Blackstar, Donny
McCaslin, Jason Lindner, Tim LeFebvre, and Mark Guiliana
are touring once again as the Donny McCaslin Quartet. In addition
to Bowie, McCaslin’s performance resume is extensive and
includes work with the Grammy-winning Maria Schneider
Orchestra, Pat Metheny, John Patitucci, and Brian Blade,
among others. His most recent Grammy nomination was for “Best
Improvised Jazz Solo” in 2015 for his performance of “Arbiters
of Evolution” with the Maria Schneider Orchestra.
Monty Alexander’s
November 21-23
Harlem Kingston Express
Jamaican jazz legend Monty Alexander’s reggae-jazz fusion
album Harlem Kingston Express earned a Grammy nomination
for “Best Reggae Album” in 2012, and continues to captivate
audiences to this day. Throughout his career, Alexander has
frequently led swinging piano trios, which have included such
artists as Ray Brown, Herb Ellis, John Clayton, Ed Thigpen,
and Jeff Hamilton.
