About RW Mertz
Robert W. Mertz is a descendant of George Mertz who founded The
Mertz Company Builders in 1872. The Mertz Company was renowned
throughout the 19th and 20th centuries for building landmark estates,
elegant hotels, public libraries, post offices, banks, train stations and
other commercial properties in Greenwich, Connecticut, Westchester
County, New York and up and down the east coast. The Mertz
Company was also the leading manufacturer of ornate woodwork,
holding many patents in this field for well over 100 years.
Mr. Mertz continued in the Mertz tradition of excellence in La
Cañada-Flintridge, California where he built some of the finest estate
properties in that community. His historic recreation of a classic
Georgian Colonial Estate that was inspired by Thomas Jefferson’s
Monticello, Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Hyde Park, William Henry

Grimaldi Court is a gorgeous, luxury Mediterranean house plan

The Sterling Oaks European inspired gem is one of Sater
Design’s most popular Mediterranean home plans. The
home plan features 5,820 square feet of living area with five
bedrooms and six baths. Under the porte-cochere, family

the two-storied grand interior. Past the foyer, rooms flow
