Built at the world’s most award winning
plant, the GS resets benchmarks for comfort,
craftsmanship and advanced technology. Inside,
it has the world’s widest multimedia screen,
electronic air conditioning and class leading
driver support systems. Paintwork is sanded
by hand, with single source wood and solid
aluminium used for trims and detailing.
To make the new GS an incredibly
enjoyable car to drive, prototypes were tested
over 1 million miles, demonstrating that we
really don’t stop until we create amazing.

Starting from scratch, our designers have given
the GS a totally new look, the focal point being
its purposeful front ‘spindle grille’.
Extended wheel arches hint at superb,
dynamic handling. Smooth underbody covers
and automatic closable vents on the GS
450h’s radiator grille contribute to the car’s
class leading aerodynamics, with fins on
the rear lights increasing driving stability and
reducing wind noise inside the cabin.

The new GS is available with the world’s largest
multimedia display: a 12.3 inch, full colour, LED
screen in an ultra wide, 24:9 format. Driver
and front seat passenger can interact with
the display using Voice Control or second
generation Remote Touch, which reacts
intuitively to commands. A connected iPod can
be fully controlled in this way.
Attention to detail is everywhere, from the
full LED ambient white cabin lighting to the
precision engineered LED analogue clock that
forms a centrepiece on the instrument panel.

The new GS is equipped with a 12 speaker
audio system as standard. A 17 speaker Mark
Levinson® Premium Audio is available on
selected grades. Delivering 7.1 channel digital
surround sound, this top of the range system
provides a live concert experience for enjoying
music and watching DVDs. The careful
positioning of the speakers gives beautifully
consistent sound for front and rear seat
occupants, resulting in a new level of definition,
atmosphere and quality.
The new Mark Levinson® digital amplifier
generates 125 Watts per channel and a total
of 835 Watts. GreenEdge™ technology
has also been incorporated into each of the
17 speakers, resulting in power consumption
dropping to a sixth of that needed for its
predecessor, while power delivered from the
speakers has doubled.
Every GS model has a USB port for
connecting multimedia devices, as well as an
AUX socket and a 12 V power socket.

Next generation Vehicle Dynamics
Integrated Management, the Advanced
Pre Crash system and brakes are engineered
to deliver best in class stopping performance.
In the event of a collision, all occupants are
protected by an incredibly strong passenger
safety cell. High tensile steel produces a light
yet exceptionally rigid cage, built to ensure that
crash forces are evenly absorbed before they
ever reach the cabin space.
Whiplash Injury Lessening front seats and
a class leading shield of ten airbags make the
GS even safer.

SUPERIOR PROTECTION

You’ll sense the build quality of the new GS when you touch
the precision machined aluminium audio controls and the
beautifully stitched leatherwork. The paintwork is wet sanded
by hand after each foundation coat (a time consuming process
normally reserved for coach built cars) and checked by eye as
well as digitally to ensure a perfect finish.
At our award winning Tahara plant, GS production is overseen by
Lexus ‘Takumi’ personnel. These master craftspeople, trained to feel
the difference between two sides of a sheet of paper, check each car
meets our standards for smoothness before taking it for a final test drive.

Drive Mode Select allows you to choose between modes, to maximise either the car’s efficiency or dynamic abilities.
1 / ECO / EV Mode In ECO mode, engine output, gear selection, air conditioning and heated seats are
controlled to reduce fuel consumption. Select EV (Electric Vehicle) mode, and the GS 450h Full Hybrid provides
a near silent drive, using no petrol and emitting zero CO2 or NOX*. In EV, ECO and NORMAL modes the
instruments take on a tranquil blue colour, and the ecometer encourages you to drive more efficiently.
2 / SPORT S / SPORT S+ Mode If you’re in a dynamic mood, select SPORT S mode and the
GS immediately retunes the throttle for rapid acceleration. Available on GS F SPORT and Premier
grades, SPORT S+ mode combines SPORT S mode’s enhanced powertrain output with coordinated
control of Adaptive Variable Suspension, Electric Power Steering and Vehicle Dynamics Integrated
Management for a precise and exhilarating drive. Switching to SPORT S and SPORT S+ modes
illuminates the instruments in a vibrant red and, on the new GS 450h, automatically changes the
system power indicator into a tachometer.

HYBRID DRIVE WORK?
1 / Start up, driving off When starting off, the powerful electric motor can swiftly
propel the GS 450h up to 25mph with electric power supplied by the hybrid battery.
At this point the vehicle is almost silent, uses no petrol and produces zero emissions*.
2 / Normal driving conditions At speeds above 25mph the ultra smooth 3.5 litre V6
direct injection Atkinson Cycle petrol engine cuts in, almost silently, but still receives assistance
from the electric motor when required.
3 / Full throttle acceleration Accelerate powerfully and the 200 DIN hp electric motor
instantaneously supplements the 3.5 litre 292 DIN hp V6 petrol engine. Together they deliver a
surge of torque for fast linear acceleration precisely when you need it.
4 / Deceleration, stopping, braking When decelerating or coming to a halt, the petrol engine
turns off, cutting emissions to zero. Brake, or take your foot off the accelerator, and regenerative
braking harnesses the kinetic energy lost in other cars. It converts this into electrical energy for storage
in the hybrid battery, which is one reason why you never need to recharge a Lexus Full Hybrid.

The GS 450h delivers breathtaking
performance thanks to its powerful Lexus
Hybrid Drive. The intelligent partnership of a
3.5 litre V6 direct injection Atkinson Cycle
petrol engine and a high output electric motor
delivers 345 DIN hp.
Acceleration is smooth and incredibly fast
(0 62mph in 5.9 seconds) yet fuel consumption
has improved by more than 20% to 46.3mpg
on certain models. CO2 emissions start at 141 g/
km. Select EV (Electric Vehicle) mode and the
GS 450h drives in near silence, using no petrol
and emitting zero CO2 or NOX* . The new
Lexus Full Hybrid is practical too; its redesigned
battery occupies minimal space, resulting in a

1 / Power control unit The ‘brain’ of Lexus Hybrid Drive, the power control unit (PCU)
constantly optimises the allocation of power resources electric, petrol or a combination
of both. The PCU also manages the process of charging the hybrid battery, either by
allocating engine power to drive the generator or through regenerative braking.
2 / Advanced hybrid battery Energy management of the 2 tier, 40 module nickel
metal hybrid 288 V battery is controlled by sophisticated software. This ensures the battery is
recharged as necessary during driving, so that external charging is never required. The compact
design contributes to significantly increased boot capacity.
3 / Regenerative braking When braking or decelerating, the vehicle’s wheels drive the high
output electric motor so that it functions as a generator. Kinetic energy is then captured and converted
into electric power. This is stored in the hybrid battery for later use when driving in Electric Vehicle mode
or accelerating swiftly.
4 / Electric Vehicle (EV) Mode With sufficient battery charge, EV mode lets you drive at lower speeds
over shorter distances using only electric power. EV mode is whisper quiet and emissions free, and consumes
no fuel. This is ideal when driving in slow moving traffic or enclosed car parks.

Driver Monitoring system to prevent drivers from drifting out of lane or shutting their eyes.

The three year, unlimited mileage warranty covers surface rust and paint
defects on any painted body panels due to a fault in material or workmanship.
12-YEAR CORROSION PERFORMANCE WARRANTY
WORLD-LEADING QUALITY
A 12 year unlimited mileage warranty covers the vehicle against rust perforation
through any sheet metal body panel (subject to certain exclusions specified
in the warranty booklet) occurring as a result of a manufacturing or assembly
defect in the vehicle. The warranty booklet supplied with each new vehicle gives
full details. This warranty is also transferable to subsequent owners.
