WE ARE RIDDELL. WE ARE FOOTBALL.
Riddell (pronounced rih-DELL) is a premier designer and
developer of protective sports equipment. Part of the
BRG Sports family, Riddell is the leading manufacturer of
football helmets, shoulder pads and reconditioning
services (cleaning, repairing, repainting and recertifying
existing equipment).
Riddell has evolved alongside the game of football…
innovating to meet player’s protective needs for more than
FOR THE GOOD OF THE GAME
Riddell is focused on protecting and preserving the game
of football. It is our commitment to innovate and evolve
the needs of the athlete. We are a nationwide community
leader committed to making football better, safer and
smarter.
In 2015, Riddell launched the Smarter Football
Commitment - a nationwide initiative to get athletes,
coaches, athletic trainers, equipment managers, parents,
fans - the entire football community – to proclaim through
an online commitment his or her support for advancing
the game.
PRODUCT INNOVATION
RIDDELL SPEEDFLEX
The goal was to design a helmet
with fully integrated components
and innovations for peak athlete
performance and state-of-the-art
protection. We looked at the players’
wants and needs – at all levels
of competition – as well as those
of coaches, equipment managers
and athletic trainers. The result:
the Riddell SpeedFlex. Backed by
extensive research, including our
2+ million data points of on-field
impacts, the SpeedFlex introduces
many technical features that are new
to the field.
MORE PRODUCT INNOVATION
ON REVERSE
80 years. We build on the strengths of our technologies,
welcome the challenge to protect and perform in a smarter
way, outpace the needs of today’s athletes and continue to
move the game of football forward.
Product innovation is at the heart of everything Riddell
does. Many years of research, engineering, on-field feedback, and testing go into creating our equipment. As part of the program, Riddell provided $100,000 in
equipment grants to select football programs in need of
upgraded gear. Grants were awarded to deserving programs
that best demonstrated how the new product would
strengthen their team’s commitment to smarter football.
Community education plays a critical role in making the
game better, safer, and smarter. That is why over the years
Riddell has partnered with a number of organizations
dedicated to the advancement of protecting athletes
including USA Football, American Youth Football (AYF), and
National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association
(NIAAA) – educating players, parents, coaches on the
importance of proper equipment fitting and care.
From embedded impact sensors in helmets that monitor
and record head impacts during on-field play to shoulder
pads that give first responders easy access to players in
emergencies, Riddell continues to break new ground in
sports equipment by combining visionary ideas with advanced materials and technology.

RIDDELL IQ
Riddell IQ is our smart helmet technology platform that
encompasses the Riddell Sideline Response System (SRS)
and Riddell InSite. A highly sophisticated, data-intensive
system, Riddell SRS monitors and records every significant
incidence of head impact sustained during a football game
or practice. The system monitors the magnitude (both
linear and rotational acceleration), location, direction and
duration as well as the exact time of each impact. This
provides researchers, athletic staff and players with a wide
range of valuable information on the number and severity
of head impacts a player receives during play.
program and A.T. Still University to find a better way to
understand and diagnose concussions.
Riddell SRS has been used by major research institutions
for over a decade with the collection of 2+ million on-field
impacts and has been the subject of or used for over 80
peer-reviewed, scientific publications.
Merging the data generated by Riddell SRS with
information gathered by studying a player’s blood, saliva
and urine collected throughout a season, researchers hope
to find biomarkers that signal whether or not injury to the
brain has occurred and to what extent. The ultimate goal
is to find biomarkers released from the brain that provide
medical evidence of concussion.

RIDDELL RIPKORD
RIDDELL INSITE
The Riddell InSite Impact Response System is a helmetbased head impact monitoring technology designed to alert
when significant single or multiple impacts are sustained
during a football game or practice. Riddell developed InSite
based on its Head Impact Telemetry System (HITS) and
Sideline Response System (SRS), a technology that has
collected 2+ million impacts (and counting) since 2003.
Coaches and sideline staff will now have Riddell InSite’s
unique vantage point inside the helmet at the time of
contact to alert the sideline staff of a potential issue.
The Riddell RipKord Removal System is a patented release
mechanism strategically integrated into select Riddell
shoulder pads that allow for quick and easy removal and
access to the player.
At the NATA’s Clinical Symposium and Athletic Training
Expo in June 2015, health care professionals released
an updated statement on “Appropriate Care of the Spine
Injured Athlete.” Excerpt from the executive summary:
**Protective athletic equipment should be removed prior to
transport to an emergency facility for an athlete-patient with
suspected cervical spine instability.
RECONDITIONING AND RECERTIFICATION
Proper helmet maintenance advances player protection
and prolongs the life of the equipment. Riddell reconditions
the most athletic equipment worldwide. During the
reconditioning process, equipment is cleaned, sanitized,
inspected, repaired (if necessary), and recertified to the
National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic
Equipment (NOCSAE) standard.
The Riddell RipKord and key helmet features such as our
patented Quick Release face mask attachment system, are
designed to facilitate quick and easy equipment removal to
assist the athlete’s medical care.
HELMET TECHNOLOGIES
Riddell equipment is seen on
football fields from coast-to- coast,
protecting every level of player
from youth athletes to the elite.
Riddell’s carefully researched,
designed and engineered
protective technologies are
featured in all Riddell helmet
models. These technologies have a
documented performance history
that serves as a foundation from
which Riddell draws inspiration
to lead, innovate and provide
state-of-the-art head protection to
athletes at all levels of play.
