PREFACE
Introduction
This book is to provide detailed information on all Keune products.
It is meant for sales representatives and distributors, but also for
technicians. A description is given of the articles and the type of
packaging, function of the products, their qualities, their ingredients
and the directions for use.
Philosophy
Keune is an exclusive range of professional haircare products for
hairdressers. Some important characteristics are:

The Keune range can be recognized immediately. The characteristic
black-silver packaging and perfect styling are visible in all our

The Keune range is an elegant contribution to the decor of exclusive
hair studios. Keune is of the opinion that the hairdresser is a highly
skilled professional. Therefore, quality is extremely important, which
Mr. George Keune, president, will personally guarantee. A team of
experts is continually investigating new developments.
Many leading hairdressers are co-operating with Keune and are
testing the new products before they are launched on the market. The
factory and the Keune laboratory are located in the Netherlands while
the marketing is strongly focused on France which is Keune¹s strongest
market. The Keune range is represented in more than 60 countries in

Taiwan. Keune supports hairdressers. Therefore it is very important to

History
Keune Haircosmetics was established by Jan
Keune, chemist, on February 6,1922 in the
heart of Amsterdam. The company started as
a pharmacy with a chemical factory joined
to it. As early as 1924 Jan Keune applied
himself to the manufacturing of permanent
waves. By doing so, Jan Keune became the
first Dutch manufacturer of permanent waves.
Shortly after World War II, Keune started to
specialize in the manufacturing of products
for hairdressers. In 1967 the company moved
to its first location in Soest. In 1995 the
company moved again and is now located
in the very elegant and modern building in
Soest. The present president/owner, Mr.
George Keune is in charge of the company.
The company is undergoing a sensational
growth at this moment. The introduction of
Tinta Color range has made it necessary
for the factory to expand dramatically. Yet
Keune promises to maintain the features
of a family business paying attention to
detail, quality and service. What is more
important is that Keune has more than 85
years of experience in developing products
for hairdressers. Keune¹s future is strongly
based on the experience and technology of
its past.

Tinta Color is the permanent hair color which protects and conditions
the hair during the coloring process. It prevents porosity, giving the
hair longer lasting color and shine. The method of working and the
numbering system are the same as most hairdressers are used to and
the attractive instruction card makes the step to Tinta Color easier.

TINTA PRE-PIGMENTATION
When darkening lightened hair more than 2 levels, it is necessary to
repigment the hair. Tinta Pre-pigmentation can also be used on faded
lengths and ends. Use Tinta Pre-pigmentation Fluid for direct application
or use the desired mixture of Tinta Mix Color 0/66.

Mix 30 ml (1 fl.oz) color with 60 ml (2 fl.oz) of 3% (10 vol.) Tinta Cream Developer.
Apply to base, lengths and ends.
Process for a maximum of 20 min. depending on the desired intensity.
Choose from the following shades:

To lighten permanent color, mix 1 scoop Cream Bleach or Magic Blonde with 25 ml (0.8 fl.oz)
Keune Shampoo and 25 ml (0.8 fl.oz) of 9% (30 vol.) Tinta Cream Developer.
Apply evenly with a color brush.
Check the progress regularly.
Processing time is a maximum of 20 min. Can be applied to damp or dry hair.

Directions for use
Tinta Cream Developer is the developer for Tinta Color. It contains
the color stabilizer LP 300. Tinta Cream Developer is extra stabilized
so that the H202 percentage will remain the same, even at higher
temperatures. Shaking before use will facilitate the pouring of the
Developer.
Mixing: mixing ratio 1:1 or 1:2 for Tinta Super Ash
Blonde (1 tube 60 ml/2 Fl.oz. + 60 ml or 120 ml/
4 Fl.oz. Keune Tinta Cream Developer). Mix to smooth.
Choose the correct strength of developer:
3% - 10 vol.:For deposit, on faded lengths and
ends / 0-1 levels of lift.
6% - 20 vol.: Same level of coloring/darker coloring
/ 1-2 levels lighter coloring.
9% - 30 vol.:2-3 levels lighter coloring/3 levels
lighter coloring with Special Blonde
shades. 3-4 levels with Super Ash
Blonde.
12% - 40 vol.:3-4 levels with Special Blonde, 4
levels with Super Ash Blonde. Up to 5
levels lighter coloring with Tinta 2000
shades.

Directions for use
Tinta Color Contrast produces striking intense color with a beautiful
healthy result and can be used on both natural as well as color
treated hair. It preserves the integrity of the hair even with repeated
applications. Special built-in conditioners leave the hair smooth and
shiny. Tinta Contrast Color is suitable for color level 1 through 5. The
treatment consists of a 2-phase application method. First the sections or
hair swatches are decolorized with Tinta Color 2000 or with Magic

Use 30g (1oz) Semi Color + 60 g (2oz) Activator (mixing ratio
1:2). Mix well in applicator, shaker or bowl. If desired, add
Mix Color to intensify the color character. Apply the mixture on
towel dried hair. Process for 20 minutes. Emulsify with water
and rinse thoroughly. Shampoo and treat with Tinta After Color
Shampoo pH4 and Tinta After Color Balsam pH4. To intensify
red characters on color level 1-5, use Semi Color Red Activator.
Mix Color: Use Mix Color to intensify the chosen Semi Color
color character. Example: to intensify the copper character: mix
30g (1oz) Semi Color 5.4 with 2.5g (0.1oz) = 5 cm. Mix
Color 0.44 and 60g (2oz) Activator. The amount of Mix Color
depends on the desired color intensity. For more information see

Repeat Treatment: Use Semi Color + Activator (mixing ratio
1:2) Apply the color to the re-growth and process for 10 minutes.
Distribute through the lengths and ends and process for an
additional 10 minutes. Emulsify with water and rinse thoroughly.
Shampoo and treat with Tinta After Color Shampoo pH4 and Tinta
After Color Balsam pH4.
Dual System: Semi Color in combination with Tinta Color.
Use Semi Color to refresh the lengths and ends of the hair in
combination with Tinta Color on the re-growth. This enhances the
conditioning effect and gives incredible shine. Apply Tinta Color
on the re-growth and process for 10 minutes. Apply the desired
quantity Semi Color plus Activator in the same color level to the
lengths and ends. Process an additional 20 minutes. Emulsify with
warm water and rinse thoroughly. Shampoo and treat with Tinta

Tip for creating Anthracite: To create Semi Color Anthracite
use 3 parts 0/11 = 9 g (0.3oz), 4 parts 9.32 = 12 g (0.4oz)

Directions for use
1. Unlimited color possibilities
For infinite color shades in the Semi Color assortment,
add a small amount of Semi Color Clear to the chosen
Semi Color shade. This way the chosen color shade
becomes diluted and will be lighter and offers a variety
of shades.
2. Pastel shades
To create pastel shades on level 10, decolorized hair,
use 30g (1oz) Semi Color Clear + 5g (0.2oz) of the
desired fashion tone or 5g (0.2oz) of the desired Mix
Color. Mix with 70g (2.5oz) Activator and process 110 minutes, depending on the desired intensity. Emulsify

3. Glossing service

Tip for blonde hair

and conditioning effect on the hair. Vegetable Wheat Protein has been

Directions for use
Measure 50 ml. of the product in Tinta Color mixing
bowl. With Tinta Pre- Pigmentation Fluid applicator,
apply to dry hair beginning at the nape. DO NOT
rinse. Dry the Pre- Pigmentation Fluid into the hair using
a hood dryer or a blow dryer. (Expect the hair to be
vibrant in color). Continue with chosen Tinta color
application.
Bleached and extremely faded lengths and ends have a shortage of
red pigment. When such hair is darkened more than 2 levels with
Tinta Color, the result will be a faded color. Therefore it is necessary
to repigment the hair. This can be done by repigmenting the hair
with Tinta Pre-Pigmentation Fluid before application of Tinta Color. The
Fluid has to be dried but not rinsed out before applying Tinta Color.
The Tinta Pre-Pigmentation Fluid is available in 1 strength.
Tinta Pre-Pigmentation Fluid can be used undiluted on color levels 1-5.

Sericin Wave combines the softness of

Two unique ingredients have been added to the Sericin Wave. One
of them is Sericin, a protecting protein, which is the outer protective
layer of the silk thread. Sericin gives the hair a remarkable softness
and shine. Cationactive Keratin (K+) restores the disulfide bonds during
the treatment. In this way the structure of the hair is stronger and the
tenability is increased. Sercin Wave is low in alkalinity and therefore

Directions for use
Shampoo the hair and towel dry. Use Phyto Protein Spray
on highlighted and porous ends. If the hair is heavily
highlighted or bleached we recommend diluting no. 2
lotion 1:1 with water. Water wrap (with longer hair, 20
cm/ 8 inches or longer, we advice lotion wrapping).
Number and size rods, and wrapping technique will
determine the curl result. Apply sufficient lotion to each
rod, starting in the nape area.
Application times:
• Final application time should be determined through
a test curl
• After test curl rinse the hair thoroughly with warm water
and blot the rods
• Sericin Neutralizer 120 ml (4.1 Fl.oz.) ready for use.
Sericin Neutralizer Conc. 1:1 1000 ml (33.8 Fl.oz.),
dilute with warm water
• Apply 2/3 of the Neutralizer on the rods for 5 minutes.
Gently remove the rods without tension and apply
remainder of the Neutralizer for another 5 minutes

Directions for use
Cleanse the hair with a mild shampoo (Clarifying
Shampoo) and towel dry. Wrap damp hair on rods and
place protective cotton around the hairline. Carefully
but thoroughly moisten each rod with perm lotion. To
get perfect saturation, moisten each rod more than
once. Avoid contact with scalp. Gently blot with damp
cotton in the event of contact with the scalp. Remove
protective cotton and replace if necessary with new.
Cover the head with a plastic cap.
Application times:
• Final application time should be determined through
a test curl
• After the application time, rinse the hair thoroughly for
5 minutes with warm water and blot dry the rods
• Dilute Bioperm Neutralizer 1:1 with warm water.
Apply the neutralizer on the rods for 5 minutes
• Gently remove the rods and apply remainder of the
neutralizer for another 5 minutes

Directions for use
• Shampoo the hair only if it is very oily or filthy. Apply to dry or
towel-dried hair.
• Important: apply the Hair Straightener with a brush, strand by
strand, starting in the nape area. Keep the Hair Straightener
away from scalp at least 0.5 cm/0.2 inch.
• For even distribution, comb through carefully. Processing time is
5 to 20 minutes, depending on the structure of the hair. Do not
exceed the maximum processing time in any case! Check from
time to time with a comb, whether the hair stays straight.
• After processing time, straighten the hair by combing strand
by strand, using a wide tooth comb. Do not pull the hair.
Straightening should not exceed 5 minutes.
• Rinse the hair thoroughly with warm water for at least 5 minutes,
until all cream has been removed. Towel dry the hair.
• Apply Fixing Balm evenly to the hair carefully combing through.
Process for 10 minutes.
• Add a little warm water and massage the Fixing Balm with the
fingertips from the scalp through the hair.
• Rinse hair thoroughly until all fixing balm has been removed.
• Read the instructions before use.
• Do not apply on a sensitive or irritated scalp or if the condition
of the hair does not allow this treatment.
• Wear suitable gloves, use non-metallic tools such as comb,
brush and bowl
• Do not apply heat and do not cover the hair during processing
time
• On previously straightened hair, the product should only be
applied to the regrowth

• Apply Keune Sleek & Shine Rebonding Cream with
a color brush, section by section beginning at the
nape. Keep the Keune Sleek & Shine Rebonding
Cream 0.5 cm (0.2 inch) away from the scalp.
• Carefully comb through the hair for even distribution.

each section 6 to 8 times, until it is completely straight.
Use a ceramic straightening iron and do not keep
the iron in one place for longer than 3 seconds. Set
temperature between 150°C and 180°C (300°F 350°F). Smoke may appear after using Sleek & Shine
Rebonding Conditioner, but the hair will not burn.
• Apply Keune Fixing Balm beginning at the nape,
section by section. Comb the hair into the natural fall.
• Using a tail comb, comb the hair section by section.
• Rinse thoroughly.
• Towel-dry the hair.
• Apply Keune Sleek & Shine Rebonding Conditioner
for 3 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

Keune Styling: tools for
the art of hair design
The Keune Styling products distinguish themselves clearly from retail
products at pharmacies and supermarkets. The quality is formulated for

added to the carefully selected ingredients. The result of this formulation

mentioned. This factor is an indication for the fixing strength of a product.
The fixing strengths are indicated by a scale from 1 to 20. Hold Factor

1. Multi Fruit Complex
The Multi Fruit Complex which is found in all the
products in the Keune Finishing Line 2, consists of a
concentrated blend of five botanical extracts: Bilberry,
Sugar Cane, Sugar Maple, Orange and Lemon. These
extracts contain several naturally occurring alpha
hydroxy acids (AHAs). AHAs have shown to increase
the rate of cell renewal, which improves the health of
the scalp. In addition, the natural acids close the hair
shaft, making the hair soft and shiny.
2. Provitamin B5
Provitamin B5 is a relatively small molecule with a
plain chemical structure, which enables the vitamin to
penetrate the hair shaft and the hair root. Provitamin B5
has the unique ability to attract liquid. This maintains the
inner moisture balance of the hair. Because Provitamin
B5 is a natural substance of healthy hair, the vitamin
does not cause skin irritation or allergic reactions.
Provitamin B5 has the ability to thicken normal hair up
to 10 percent. Damaged hair will be restored and will
regain its natural glow.
3. UV-FILTER
The UV-B rays of the sun are able to dissolve the disulfide
connections from the Keratin in the hair. This increases
the porosity of the hair, reduces the combability and
makes the hair feel hard. All products in the Keune
Finishing Line 2 contain a UV-filter, which protects the
hair against the damaging rays from the sun.
Because of the high-quality natural ingredients and the
UV-filter, the styling products are also very appropriate
for the re-building of damaged hair.

Apply the Clarifying Shampoo on wet hair and
massage to lather. Leave in the hair for 2 - 3 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly and repeat the treatment if necessary.
The Clarifying Shampoo is a gentle deep cleansing shampoo which
contains a high concentration of mild surfactants, providing a deep
cleansing effect. Due to the sophisticated composition of the surfactants
the shampoo is very gentle and non-irritating. Build-up of styling and
finishing products will be removed from the hair in a very effective way.
Because of the Magnesium and Calcium in hard water, the hair loses
its softness. The purifying agents in the Clarifying Shampoo remove
minerals and salts efficiently. Bamboo and Fern Extracts provide
the hair with excellent care and conditioning. The shampoo has a
delicious Peach fragrance and gives the hair volume and shine, and
