Sept. 14, 21, 28 & Oct. 5, 12 9/14: Atariba and Niguayona: A Story from the Taino People of Puerto Rico 9/21: Brother Anansi and the Cattle Ranch / El Hermano Anansi Y El Rancho De Granado: An African-American story from the Caribbean A Taino Indian legend about a young boy and his search for the healing caimoni tree. by Harriet Rohmerand and illustrated by Stephen Von Mason. A bilingual folk tale in which Brother Anansi persuades Brother Tiger to go into the cattle raising business. 9/28: Irupé Y Yaguareté by Mariana Ruiz Johnson. This story beautifully depicts the jungle and a charming friendship. 10/5: El Picaflor, Personajes Mágicos de los Andes / The Hummingbird, Magical Character of the Andes by Alfonsina Barrionuevo and illustrated by Kukuli Velarde. 10/12: Conejito: A Folktale from Panama by Margaret Read MacDonald and illustrated by Geraldo Valério. Conejito is a perky little rabbit dancing up the hill to Tía Monica’s house. Zorro, Tigre, and Léon try to bar his way, but dancing Conejito and Tía Monica are a match for them.
