The knots are hand filled with a natural filler which dry to produce sunken knots. Tumbled This effect is similar to Rolled, but more pronounced as the boards are more heavily distressed, particularly on the edges. They are supplied with a moisture content of 9%+/-2% in solid oak and 8% +/- 2% in engineered oak. Natural colour variation throughout all grades of oak is to be expected. All of our flooring is produced in a humidity controlled environment before packaging and therefore once it has left our warehouse it cannot be returned. Smoked floors: smoking of wood is a natural reaction which takes place in the smoking kiln between ammonia and the tannic acid present in the oak. This reaction produces a deeper tone to the oak. As this is a natural reaction no influence can be made on the colour variation within the oak. Colour variation can be expected within the board and between each board. Cross-sawn boards are hand-oiled and therefore take three weeks to fully cure. Floors should not be washed within this three week period. Any pre-finished stair nosing’s, tread, risers and skirting are hand oiled and hand brushed therefore will not be an exact match to a machine oiled floor. Slight colour variation is to be expected. If an unfinished floor is to be purchased and hand oiled, a machine oiled sample of flooring should not be used as comparison for colour. Hand oiling can often produce a much darker colour than expected – this is due to different methods used and application rates. Flooring must be acclimatised before installation. Fitters must ensure that the sub floor is dry before installation as any residual moisture will be absorbed by the floor. It is advisable that all wet trades are completed before installation. Contractors must also take precautions to protect the flooring from damage once installed. An expansion gap must be left around the perimeter of the room and in certain cases an internal expansion gap may be required. Natural seasonal movement of solid wood is to be expected – oak will expand & contract as temperature and moisture levels change. This may leave “penny” gaps between boards or cause slight cupping - this is all part of the nature of wood. UFH - must be fully regulated and running before installation (any floor protection must be removed) and then switched off completely during installation. 1997 Multischichtdiele Z-156.607-1110 Emissions-geprüftes Bauprodukt nach DIBt-Grundsätzen Pelican Design Consultants / www.pelican-design.com Russwood Ltd, Station Sawmill Newtonmore, Scotland, PH20 1AR Search Russwood UK online and discover more T: 01540 673 648 F: 01540 673 661 E: mail@russwood.co.uk www.russwood.co.uk
