V765 Scheme-Late Conversions
How to register your vehicle under the V765 new rules late conversion scheme:
a.
Applications must be submitted on form V765 and signed by the keeper of the vehicle
agreeing to the terms and conditions of the V765 scheme. A V55/5 should also be
completed and a recent photograph of the vehicle confirming it as a complete entity
must be included. A FEE IS NOT APPLICABLE as the vehicle is being re-registered and
is not applying for first registration.
b.
The application must have a V765 form signed, stamped and approved by the relevant
vehicle owners/enthusiasts club (for their make/type), shown on the V765/1 List of
Vehicle Owners Clubs. The club will charge a fee to process the application.
c.
Additional evidence MUST be presented with the application to link the registration
number to the vehicle. Acceptable forms of evidence include:• The original old style logbook (RF60/VE60) or a photocopy authenticated and
stamped by a DVLA Local Office.
• An original pre-1983 tax disc/MoT/insurance certificate clearly displaying the
original number.
• Archive/Library records displaying the registration number and the chassis number
authorised by the archivist clearly defining where the material was taken from.
• Other pre 1983 documentary evidence linking the chassis and the registration number
to the vehicle.
V765 Application made in conjunction with a Vehicle Tax Application
Under certain conditions vehicle tax requests made with V765 applications can be accepted
and processed directly at a DVLA Local Office. The application must include an old style
logbook (RF60/VE60) and also comply with the V765 procedures. All papers will be
re-examined by DVLA Swansea and a Registration Certificate will be issued if appropriate.
Age Related Registration Numbers
Where no documentary evidence can be provided to link the chassis and the registration
number to the vehicle, it may be possible to issue your vehicle with an age related registration
number. The keeper must apply to the relevant club for the issue of a dating certificate (fee
applicable).
All papers should be taken to a DVLA Local Office for the issue of an age related registration
number and the appropriate first registration fee will apply.
Transfer of an age related registration number to a vehicle’s original registration number
If a vehicle has been registered with an alternative age-related number already, the V5/V5C
bearing the age-related number must be included, in this instance the V55/5 may be omitted.
All other documentary evidence mentioned must be included to justify claim to the original
registration number.
