The ACR Lung
Cancer Screening
Center designation
is a voluntary
program that
recognizes
facilities that have
committed to
practice safe, effective diagnostic care
for individuals at the highest risk for
lung cancer.
In order to receive this distinction,
facilities must be accredited by the
ACR in computed tomography in the
chest module, as well as undergo a
rigorous assessment of its lung cancer
screening protocol and infrastructure.

Low-dose CT screenings began at
Wenatchee Valley Hospital and Moses
Lake last fall, and a user-friendly
EPIC order set with note writer has
been implemented for the required
preliminary shared decision-making
visit needed for best practice, as well
as Medicare compliance.
Confluence Health prioritized the
designation because lung cancer
screening with low-dose computed
tomography scans and appropriate
follow-up care significantly reduces
lung cancer deaths. Participants
in the National Cancer Institutes’s
National Lung Cancer Screening Trial
who received low-dose CT scans had
a 20-percent lower risk of dying from
lung cancer than participants who
received standard chest x-rays.
In December 2013, the United
States Preventive Services Task Force
recommended screening of adults
ages 55 to 80 who have a 30 pack/year
smoking history and currently smoke
or have quit within the past 15 years.
Lung cancer is the nation’s leading
cancer killer, taking the lives of more
people each year than breast, colon
and prostate cancers combined.
CT Lung Screening Order Form is posted

Important changes
with EpicCare Link access
Confluence Health created a new web portal that makes
it easier and faster to access EpicCare Link.
The new URL for Epiccare Link is:
http://confluencehealth.org/epiclink
In addition to the web portal update, new logins and
temporary passwords were assigned to each EpicCare
Link user. If you haven’t received a login and password
via email or have issues logging into the new web portal,
contact the I.T. Help Desk.
I.T. Help Desk – Available 24/7
p: 509.665.6206.
You may notice EpicCare Link looks a little different. In
February we upgraded the Epic system. It will take a little
getting used to, but all of the information is still there.
For those of you who use the tabs across the top of the
page to search patient records or to look for scanned
documents, the media tab can be accessed by clicking
on the arrow to the far right of the letters tabs. By
clicking the arrow additional tabs will appear.
Reminder
The old web portal address should
be updated or removed.
