It was felt that St David’s is dearly loved by many local people and is perfectly situated for mission, outreach and ministry to visitors: we should therefore explore the possibility of developing the church to provide a multi-functional space that, with toilets and kitchen, could provide a venue for a wide range of church and community activities - AS WELL AS regular services, funerals, etc. We are meeting the church architect and Conservation Officer to discuss the possibility this week. Such a project will inevitably take a considerable amount of effort, time and money. In the meantime , it was agreed that the vestry be redecorated to accommodate the Barmouth, St Philips and Llanaber paperwork (of which there is heaps- presently in the Rectory!) and to provide an office and small meeting room for Owain and the Ministry Team. St David’s is very expensive to heat, and so, with very small midweek and Sunday evening congregations and limited income, it seems sensible to reduce the number of weekly services during the coldest months. After Christmas a regular alternating Sunday evening services will be held with Christchurch (Presbyterian Church Of Wales) . It was a joy to worship with them last Sunday. We will also join them on the following dates: Remembrance Sun: Christchurch with us at St David’s 6pm for Holy Communion. Nov 22nd. At Christchurch for evening worship 6pm Dec 20th United Carol Service 6pm at Christchurch. Three Christian youth groups from N. Wales have offered to come and give St David’s a special ‘deep clean’ and clear - probably on Nov 21st as part of their Community Service. During winter, the Wed Communion in church will be replaced by a monthly service of Holy Communion in the lounge of Hafan Deg flats on the last Wed of each month - to which all are warmly invited. We thank Nancy for her years of faithful service to St David’s, and Shirley who is now looking after this church. St John’s Two new wardens, Max and Sian, have joined the team. We thank them for accepting these roles and pray for their ministry. It was good to welcome members of St Mary’s at last week’s Baptism service. Thank you for coming ‘up the hill’. St John’s congregation are aware of the parking constraints and the wardens are beginning to explore possible ways forward to provide additional parking. Miriam and I would like to thank St John’s for their wonderful, warm welcome and beautiful flowers. We look forward to serving God at the ‘Barmouth end’ of the Bro.
