STAFF BELAYER The Crag is seeking motivated, high energy high school and college students to fill the role of Staff Belayer. Candidates must be friendly, helpful and have a positive attitude in all interactions with youth climbers, parents, other guests and team members. Job Description: Staff Belayers assist with Party Packages & Group Climbing Packages at The Crag, as well as our after school programs and summer camps. As a staff belayer, you will be asked to perform the following duties: • Greet and interact with climbers and adult sponsors/parents • Clearly communicate to climbers & adults the order of events & what will be taking place • Assist climbers & belayers in properly putting on their harnesses • Provide clear belay & safety instruction to both climbers & belayers • Belay for climbers • Assist groups in party area, including getting supplies, taking away trash & cleaning the party area after the event • Discuss programs & events at The Crag with adults & children • Belaying for and working with after school programs & summer camps Qualifications: - Previous work experience, preferably in a role involving customer service or working with kids. - Candidates must be available to work weekends as well as the weeks of June 18-22, 2012 and July 16-20, 2012. - Knowledge of climbing and climbing skills such as belaying are ideal but not required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Strong interpersonal skills - Strong problem-solving skills - Team-building skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment - Ability to deliver excellent customer service - Ability to work as part of a team Staff Belayers play an important role on The Cragʼs team. Youʼll be expected to create a remarkable climbing and work experience for kids, parents, other team members and managers.
