Catholic means “universal.” Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago is
truly universal in the way we care for the poor of our community. Catholic Charities
is not just for Catholics: we serve anyone in need. Here are more facts about us:
Who are we?
Helping people in need for more than 90 years, Catholic Charities of the
Archdiocese of Chicago is one of the largest private, not-for-profit social service
agencies in the Midwest. We annually assist more than 1 million persons in Cook
and Lake counties without regard to religious, ethnic or economic background.
What do we do?
Catholic Charities fulfills the Church’s role in the mission of charity with an
emphasis on efficiency. 92 cents of every dollar donated to Catholic Charities goes
to direct program services. We offer a comprehensive network of services that
range from food pantries to mental health counseling, affordable housing, senior

Accessing Catholic Charities Lake County Services
Regional offices function as a liaison between Catholic Charities, its Regional
Advisory Boards, and the community. Regional offices allow us to partner more
closely with parishes, local social service agencies, schools and civic groups that
share our mission of helping their neighbors in need.
Each regional office offers a standard menu of services, as well as unique
programming specific to the needs of that region. The best way to start is to call
the Lake County regional office directly, at (847)782-4000. There are service sites
across the Lake County region, which are described on the map on the back of this
fact sheet.
