Overview Screens - eLynx Technologies
SCADA-Lynx Functionality Overview
August 2006
Overview Screens:
Summary Listing - is a customizable overview of any group of wells.
From here, the user can perform trending or variance analyses, review
and graph individual and well and device data, generate customized
reports, export data to Microsoft Excel, and more
Roll-Up Variance - Presents a hierarchical view of key performance
data, such as production and pressure, for both surveillance and drilldown review. Variance analysis can be performed against prior period
averages or imported corporate targets. When a variance is noted, the
user can quickly drill down from field to well to device to identify and
resolve the problem

Trending Screens:
Group Trending is a powerful interface for analyzing system-wide
production data, because it allows users to trend data from multiple
devices in a single graph. Additionally, using calculated trends you can
create a trend line that represents the sum or average of values of the
same data type across multiple devices.
Group Quick Trending – Using a pre-configured Group Trending
profile, Group Quick Trend exports trend graphs for every device in the
group to a Microsoft Word file. This document can then be printed and
used for well reviews.

Quick Graphs – Shows a pre-configured trend for every device in the
current group. Users can quickly scroll down the page to view the
trends.
Device Trending - Device trending provides a graphical
representation of selected data items and are built using the most
recent polled data. Trend parameters are user configurable and can be
saved for future use.

Reports:
Marketing Report – The marketing report pages show previous day’s
gas flow by device.
Raw Data Reports - eLynx's report engine allows reporting of all data
values for configured devices. Reports can be customized and saved
for quick access in the future. Report data can also be exported to
Microsoft Excel for further use and analysis.

Analysis Screens:
Device Detail - The Device Details page provides the user with the
last known values for all tags associated with the device.
Device Alarms – Shows all configured Device Alarm set points and
their current status.
eLynx Technologies – solutions@elynxtech.com – www.elynxtech.com
Device Memos - Shows all associated memos for a device.
Additionally, you can add or delete memos from the device. Device
memos allow multiple users to journal changes or record information
about the device.
Live Data and Control - The live data and control screen allows you
to interact directly with the device polling drivers behind the
application. The data that is presented in this screen is the most
current available to the system. Control tags allow new values to be
entered and written down to the device.

Administration:
Alarm Configuration - Exception based alarm notifications are user
configurable and notify personnel of conditions that require attention.
Alarms can be sent to email, fax, cellular phones, and pagers. Alarm
conditions are also highlighted in the user interface indicating a value
outside of the configured range.
Device Administration - The device administration screen allows you
to rename a device, edit or add attributes, and set the default trend
parameters.

Group Administration - eLynx uses a tree structure for device
navigation and grouping. The tree is composed of groups. Groups
contain monitored devices. There is no limit to the number of groups
or subgroups that you can create. Typically the groups you create will
be based on the type of equipment being monitored, and the
employees that need access to monitoring data.
Page Configuration - The page configuration screen is used to
configure data columns for configured devices in the Summary Listing.
Page configuration can be saved on a per user and group basis.
eLynx Technologies – solutions@elynxtech.com – www.elynxtech.com
User Administration - The user administration screen is used to
create users and assign permission to those users. The eLynx security
model allows site administrators to provide granular security
permissions to users for access to groups and devices. Security
permission that can be assigned to users include View, Trend, Control,
Notification List Administration, Reporting, Field Alarm Configuration,
User Administration, Group Administration, List Administration,
Database Alarm Configuration, Device Administration.
Other:
Manual Tag Entry – Allows data to be manually entered for a device
or group of devices.

Artificial Lift - eLynx web-based monitoring services enable proactive
management of controllers for artificial lift technologies including
electronic submersible pump, rod pump, and plunger lift. Features
include historical trending, statistics, and fault reporting.
Production Accounting Integration – eLynx provides data export
integration for the following Production Accounting systems: Merrick,
Production Access, TOW, and Petris.
Key features:
•
•
•
•
Data Rollback: eLynx works with our clients to ensure that all
available data ultimately is submitted to the production
accounting system through automated systems.
Unique Data Characterization: eLynx generally engineers
intrinsically defined data file structures that properly characterize
the data submitted to the production accounting system.
Data Verification: eLynx can expose custom data verification
screens that pass the ownership of data quality closer to the
operations personnel.
Automated Export Systems: eLynx data exports can be
scheduled for multiple submissions per day, with retry logic if
necessary.

Web Service Data API
In order to securely allow customers to access their data from any
application (browser or desktop app), eLynx offers a web-service
based API. These services can be integrated into custom solutions, or
utilized by any third-party application that is SOA aware.
All web service data is encrypted (SSL), and access is limited by the
standard eLynx user authentication process.
Security Overview:
Physical Security
Our production equipment is located in Tulsa, OK. Our data center has
24-hour physical security, electrical generator, redundant data center
air conditioners, and other backup equipment designed to keep servers
continually up and running. The site is electronically controlled and
monitored on a 24x7x365 basis.
Perimeter Defense
The network perimeter is protected by multiple firewalls and monitored
by intrusion detection systems — all obtained from industry-leading
security vendors. In addition, eLynx monitors and analyzes firewall
logs to proactively identify security threats.
Data Encryption
eLynx leverages the strongest encryption products to protect customer
data and communications, including 128-bit Verisign SSL Certification.
User Authentication
Users access eLynx only with a valid username and password
combination, which is encrypted via SSL while in transmission. An
encrypted session ID cookie is used to uniquely identify each user.
Application Security
Our application security model prevents one eLynx customer from
accessing another's data. This security model is reapplied with every
request and enforced for the entire duration of a user session.
Database Security
Every eLynx customer has a dedicated database for increased security.
Access to production databases is restricted to a limited number of
points, and production databases do not share a master password
database.

Reliability and Backup
All Internet networking components and web servers are configured in
a redundant configuration. All customer data is stored on a database
served by a database server cluster for redundancy. All customer data
is stored using RAID disks and multiple data paths. All customer data,
up to the last committed transaction, is automatically backed up to a
primary tape library on a nightly basis. Backup tapes are moved to
secure, fire-resistant, off-site storage on a regular basis.
Disaster Recovery
eLynx has an agreement in place with a third party provider for
dedicated space in a second data center for disaster recovery. eLynx
has provided hardware, software, and Internet connectivity at the
second data center to ensure a quick recovery in the event our
production facility were rendered unavailable.
SCADA-Lynx Remote Polling Interface
The RPI software interacts with many different types of native polling
hosts and local SCADA systems. It is installed on your polling host,
where it subscribes to the production data and transmits it back to the
SCADA-LYNX host in a secure encrypted format. You continue to
operate your polling host in the same manner as always, including
scheduling and adding new monitored points. The integration to the
eLynx system is transparent, and the result is a secure site that allows
all authorized personnel access to the data. We deploy the RPI
software remotely, making data from all of your wells available almost
immediately.
Compatibility:
The RPI software is available for Cygnet, WinCCU, TDS32, InTouch /
InSQL, Universal SCADA Server, and Bristol Open Enterprise.
Support
eLynx Technologies provides 24x7 Help Desk Support for its customers.
