The team at PACT Construction successfully completed one of its largest projects to date at 999 Hay Street, Perth – QUBE’s largest office project. The 11-storey, 13,000sqm, A-grade office project was awarded a Professional Excellence Award in the Commercial Construction $10 million to $50 million category. PACT Construction General Manager Jason Kunkler said the company secured the project thanks to its strong 11-year working relationship with QUBE. PACT Construction’s finished project at 999 Hay Street, Perth. “Being engaged from an early stage enabled us to add value from the outset,” he said. “For this development we looked at a number of cost-effective structural design solutions to get the most efficient build for the client. rating and 4.5-star NABERS rating. “The facade is certainly striking and was quite a challenge to complete, incorporating fullheight curtain wall glazing with an ellipticalshaped glass and composite aluminium clad feature with pocketed elements for balconies.” It comprises 10 open-plan office floors, a rooftop boardroom, entertainment deck, multiple balconies and a cafe at ground level. Another challenge in the project was the difficult location, with busy Hay Street and one-way Elder Street posing a few problems. “It is an outstanding achievement that showcases the possibilities of PACT’s whole project approach and focus on collaborative project and construction management,” Mr Kunkler said. “The need to demolish one side of an adjacent building on the eastern elevation of the project provided some challenges coming out of the ground,” Mr Kunkler said. “Along with this we had to navigate our way through a myriad of in-ground services, including high-pressure gas, water, electricity, fibre optics, old copper telecommunication cabling, storm water drains and more.” The building was specially designed to deliver key environmental sustainability features including a five-star Green Star The team from PACT Construction were extremely happy to collect their award.
