The day started with mass at St. Luke Church and continued with the Squires Initiation ceremony. The Initiation ceremony was led by State Chief Squire, Mathew Massey along with the Chief Counselor for Slidell Circle, Chris Perricone. 12 new members were inducted into the order. Following the initiation the Circle held its first meeting and elected officers for the 2014– 2015 fraternal year. Following the meeting and election everyone moved into the parish hall for the Installation of Officers ceremony that was led by State Committeemen, Tre Williams and Counselors from the St. Luke Circle. The day concluded with remarks from State Squires Chairman, Kerry Williams, refreshments and fellowship. Congratulations to our newest members and to the newly elected officers for St. Luke’s Circle. P a g e 2 State Bursar, Michael Ruckstuhl becomes a Knight Pictured above is (left) State Committeemen, Wayne Bonvillain and (right) State Bursar, Michael Ruckstuhl State Bursar, Michael Ruckstuhl joined the Knights of Columbus on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Michael is our latest Squire-ToKnight. Michael joined the St. Anthony of Padua Circle #5346 on April 7, 2012. Later that year he was elected Deputy Chief Squire for the 2012 – 2013 fraternal year. He was elected Chief Squire of circle #5346 for 2013 – 2014 and he was re-elected for this fraternal year. He was elected State Bursar at the 2013 – 2014 State Convention held in Carencro this past May. Michael was instrumental in his circle visiting the Homestead Living for Older Adults. He also assisted with the last 3 recruiting events for his circle. Additionally, he helped organize the Laser Tag and Bowling Tournament State Events that Circle #5346 hosted. Michael is a senior at Terrebonne High School, and will be leaving for Marine boot camp on July 13, 2015. Michael is the 4th Squire to Knight from Circle #5346. V o l u m e 1 , I s s u e 3 P a g e State Retreat & Prolife March is fast approaching The State Prolife March & Retreat will be Saturday, January 10, 2014 in Broussard, LA. Sacred Heart of Jesus Circle #4444 will be the host of this year’ Retreat. If your circle plans on attending make sure to register before the deadline, January 6, 2015. The day will begin with the Prolife March and continue with lunch and the Retreat and end with mass at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. We encourage all Circles to attend this important State Event. ESTO DIGNUS! Carencro Council #6958 offers annuity for incoming Squires St. Peter Council #6958 voted to congratulate Squires who become Knights and join their council by awarding them with an Annuity. Grand Knight, Matthew Arceneaux said the Council made the move because “We value our Squires and want to congratulate them in their passage to Knighthood” across the state to follow the example council #6958 has made and invest in Squires. The State Chairman said quote “If the rest of councils would do something similar we can leave this great order in good hands. I’m very Happy!” The State Squires Chairman, Kerry Williams called Council #6958 TRUE LEADERS and encourages councils Prayers for Stephanie Williams The State Squires Chairman, Kerry Williams’ wife had emergency surgery on December 1st and was hospitalized for a week after surgery. She is home recovering now. The Williams family asks for your prayers during this challenging time . 3 P a g e 4 A Message from the State Squires Chairman, Kerry Williams, Jr Most reverend Clergy members, Worthy State Officers, Worthy State Family Members, and Brother First, I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please remember that Jesus is, “The REASON for the SEASON and to KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS!” Secondly, I want to thank God for his healing hands and everyone for all the prayers and well wishes for my wife Stephanie. My family and I are truly grateful! I especially want to thank our State Deputy Vernon Ducote for his exemplary leadership and guidance, along with the State Council Officers, Squires State Officers, and my State Committeemen for their continued support and faith in me. I’m truly humbled and grateful. I want to give a special thanks to our Past State Squires Chairman (2010 – 2014) George Martin (current State Membership Director/Committeeman) for continuing to include the Squires within his membership programs. Great Job George! I also want to thank Past State Squires Chairman (1996 – 2010) and DD# 56 Marvin Guillot for reactivating Plaucheville Circle #5366 on November 7, 2014 with sixteen new members and as of last week they added one more member for a total of 17. Great Job Marvin! Registration for all State Events will be done online at lasquires.org! Registration is open Please remember to pray for our brothers and sisters who are alone this Christmas season. Many people are in need of a Christmas Miracle and let’s pray that Jesus will come and comfort them. I want everyone to look in the mirror and ask yourself, Lord what can I do to be a better Squire/ Knight? How can I make a difference? Ask God how you can serve Him better, be a better son, brother, nephew, student, friend. David Cameron once said, “Christmas gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on the important things around us -- a time when we can look back on the year that has passed and prepare for the year ahead.” Please take this time to find your inner YOU. for the State Retreat ESTO DIGNUS! Time sure flies by – especially during the holiday season! What a great time of year it is with family and friends all around! November was the Christ child grows in the hearts of our Squires and their families this Christmas. May God bless you all! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! full of thanks and giving – not just the holiday either! All of the circles across our state joined in community service. Louisiana Squires showed the love of Christ through activities like food drives, wheelchair ramp building, and so many other helpful projects! Just a few weeks ago I had the privilege of being at the installation of a new circle at St. Luke’s in Slidell. Our fraternity has grown with these young men and I pray that we see many more! May we continue to grow in number and deepen in our faith as Squires! Advent has been bringing us closer to Christmas each day. We are closer to fun times with family, good food, and gifts. Of course the greatest gift was God’s son – Jesus! I pray that Remember Jesus is the reason for the ESTO DIGNUS!
