Since 1858
History
One of the earliest references to the Stonyfell Vineyard dates
back to 1858 where it refers to a vineyard of 25 acres. The
original plantings were Black Portugal and Muscatel grapes.
The soil is a rich loam with a limestone and slate sub-soil.
Over the past 153 years there has been plantings of Mataro
and other Spanish varieties. Today the only grapes grown on
site are Shiraz.

In 2008 we celebrated the 150 anniversary of the historic Stonyfell
Winery.
The Amphora Wine Group is very proud to be custodians of
the Stonyfell Winery and we encourage all of our customers from
here in Australia and around the world to visit Amphora Wines to
taste our range of award winning wines and enjoy the heritage, and
the unique serene location.
With large demand from the domestic and international market,
Amphora Wine Group produce up to a million bottles every year and
produces a range of wines on site that are only available at cellar
door.

Amphora Wine Group is a leading private label supplier. We focus on
delivering high quality labels to our customer. Having operated for
nearly fifteen years, our team is experienced in all facets of private
labels.
Amphora Wine Group maintains strong and secure relationships with
a team of designers, world class print houses, bottling facilities and
logistic companies, we also boast our own in house labelling plant.
Amphora’s retail clients who have recognised the need for change
and have ventured into private labels have increased margins
significantly while maintaining price point. With the retailer being the
owner of the brand, price positioning, retail floor space positioning
and marketing remains in complete control of you, the brand owner.
Amphora also advise clients to submit all private labels to wine
shows, reputable wine magazines and wine competitions to gain
third party endorsements and further recognition value to the brand.
Trade marking the brand is also advised which will protect, add value
and also ensure infinite longevity.
Viticulture
As an Australian wine producer, Amphora is blessed with an
abundance of high quality fruit. Our viticulturists minimize the
usage of irrigation and fertilizer, with the aim of growing grapes
that reflect the true character of their varieties and growing
regions

understand the need for innovation and diversity. The
basic understanding of an agricultural commodity has
been beneficial in the prediction of challenging times
of low commodity prices for produce, fluctuating
currencies and being at the mercy of sometimes a
very harsh climate."
With over 35 years in business, and Company
Ownership in Thailand since 2000, Trevor as
the Managing Director of Amphora Wines
(Thailand) Co., Ltd, heads up this exciting
region along with his wife Bee as Director.

Head
Winemaker
Karl Gumpl has been with Amphora Wine
Group since 2010 and has been in the
position of Head Winemaker since the end
of 2011.
Having completed the world renowned
Winemaking Degree at Adelaide University,
South Australia, achieving the Bachelor of
Oenology in 2007, Karl has been since
working both domestically and
internationally in a variety of positions in
different sectors of the wine industry.
He has worked four vintages in McLaren Vale, South Australia, two in
Canada’s Okanagan Valley, and one in Portugal’s Alentejo region. Karl
has gained knowledge from working with many different winemakers
and has experienced grape varieties in both cool and warm climates on
both boutique and commercial scales. He has helped produce red and
white table wines as well as gaining hands on experience in producing
sparkling wines and even ice wines.
With a passion for innovation, he has used the most modern techniques
in new world wine production while still respecting the mystique and
timeless complexity created by old world winemaking practices.

Amphora has customers in almost all major Chinese
cities. We regularly fly to Beijing, Shanghai,
Shenzhen, Guangzhou as well as other second and
third tier cities to assist customers with promoting
our products.
New Zealand
Buyers in New Zealand distribute our products to
supermarket, liquor stores and a selection of
restaurants.
Vietnam
Amphora has jointly developed one of the first wine
bottling facilities in Vietnam. We supply our wines for
packaging and distribution throughout Vietnam.
Thailand
In 2015 we are proud to have opened our Thailand Head
Office & Distribution in which to serve this dynamic market
with Private Label and our Branded Wines
Other Countries
We also export to the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore,
Korea, Sweden, Nigeria, and Fiji.
