GM ANTOANETA STEFANOVA WON THE WOMEN’S WORLD
RAPID CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP’2012
GM Antoaneta Stefanova (BUL) won the Women’s
World Rapid Chess Championship with the final result of
8.5 points from possible 11.
Second finished GM
Alexandra Kosteniuk (RUS) with a half point less than
the winner, the third was GM Humpy Koneru (IND) with
the same result.
The Women’s World Rapid Chess Championship was
held in Batumi, Georgia, from 31 May - 3 June, 2012.
It was held in 11 rounds according to the Swiss system with time control 25 minutes
+ 10 seconds increment per move. The total prize fund was 59,000 USD.

The Chief-Arbiter of the Championship was IA Nana Alexandria, the Deputy ChiefArbiter – IA Sava Stoisavljevic. Fifty chess players competed for the title of the

ROMANIAN RAPID CHESS TEAM CUP’2012
Romanian Rapid Chess Team Cup for men
and women was held in Bucharest, on June
02-03, 2012.
In the men’s section the winner is the team of
ACS Sah Apa Nova Bucuresti 1 with 15
match points. Second with the same result
finished Politehnica Iasi, CSM Baia Mare took
the bronze medal.
In the women’s section the winner is the team of AEM Luxten Timisoara, second
finished Politehnica Iasi, third was ACS Sah Apa Nova Bucuresti.
The Chief-Arbiter of the tournament was FA Dinu-Ioan Nicula. Eight women’s teams
and twenty six men’s teams competed for the title.

CHAMPIONSHIP FOR TEAMS’2012
The team of G D Diana ‘A’ won the Portuguese National Rapid Championship for
teams’ 2012. Second finished Fc Barreirense, third was CX Montemor-o-velho/ctga
'A'. The Championship was held in Figueiró dos Vinhos, on 02 June, 2012. The ChiefArbiter was Altino Costa.

RUSSIAN YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP FOR BOYS AND
GIRLS – U 8
Valerij Skachkov won the Russian Youth
Chess Championship for boys – U 8 with
the final result of 10 points from possible 11.
Second finished Dmitrij Coj with 9.5 (11),
third was Demjan Shumilov with 9 (11).
The Russian Youth Chess Championship
for boys and girls – U-8 was held in
Kostroma, on May 23-28, 2012.
Three hundred seventy eight young chess players from 61 regions of the Russian
Federation competed for the title.
In the girl’s section the winner was Taisiya Tereshechkina, who finished with 10.5
(11), followed by Maria Girshgorn (9.5/11) and Lea Garifulina (9/11).

RTU / JUNIORS WON THE LATVIAN TEAMS CHESS
CHAMPIONSHIP-FIRST LEAGUE’2012
RTU / Juniors won the Latvian Teams
Chess Championship-First League’2012.
Second finished the team of TermoEko/Juniors, while Liepājas KSS took
the bronze medal.
The Championship was held in various
sites, from 10 March to 03 June, 2012.
The Chief-Arbiter of the tournament was IA Alberts Cimins. Eight teams took part in
that competition. The team composition of the winner was: MK Mihail Gutmans, MK
Karlis Dagis, MK Eriks Mierins, MK Juris Krastins, MK Eriks Priednieks, M Vija
Rozlapa, MK Agnija Rogule, I Jana Larionova and FM Toms Kantans.

GM VLADIMIR AKOPIAN WON ALBENA MASTERS’2012
GM Vladimir Akopian (ARM) won Albena
Masters’2012 with the final result of 7 points
from possible 9. Silver and bronze medalists
are GM Ivan Cheparinov (BUL) and GM
Tigran Petrosian (ARM) respectively – both
with the same result like the winner.

total prize fund 40,000 EURO. Albena Masters was played in 9 rounds according to
the Swiss system with time control 90 minutes for the entire game + 30 seconds
increment per move, starting from move one.

1ST GRAND EUROPE OPEN GOLDEN SANDS’2012
1st Grand Europe Open Golden
Sands’2012 started today, 4 th of June, in
the elite Black sea resort Golden Sands,
Bulgaria and will continue until 12th of
June, 2012.
The tournament is running under the patronage of the President of the European
Chess Union and the Bulgarian Chess Federation, Mr. Silvio Danailov.
The Open will be played in 9 rounds according to the Swiss system with time control
90 minutes for the entire game+30 seconds increment per move, starting from move
one.
The total prize fund of the tournament is 50,000 EURO. Chief-Arbiter is Vladimir
Sakotic.
