Fragments Catalog 2012
Fragments Introduction Fragments is an extraordinary partnership between tragedy and hope. While the inspiration for the work originates in the horrors of conflict and military waste, the objective of the art is to raise awareness of explosive remnants of war. Fragments is a collection of sculptures each available in an edition limited to twelve. These one-quarter lifesize bronze sculptures are modeled from life and then deliberately disfigured by the artist. The result is an exhibition of hauntingly beautiful fragmented figures, each named after a type of landmine. The Fragments sculptures are responsible for clearing minefields in Vietnam and Afghanistan, supporting cluster munitions removal in Kosovo, mapping minefields in Angola and providing mine risk education to children in danger areas. www.blake-fragments.com info@blake-fragments.com 2 Rockeye CBU – 87 04 Maped F1 06 Putkimiina M/68 08 Scatmine Blu 92 10 BLU-3 12 Apple P – 40 14 Gemss M128 16 HAMDY HAK-1 18 Butterfly PFM – 1 20 Valmara-69 22 Sadeye CBU-75 24 Mon – 50 26 Pomz – 2M 28 Hornet M93 30 Hades BL755 32 SUU – 58 34 ADAM M72 36 Claymore M18A138 Contents Biography 40 Art and Method 41 Exhibitions 41 3 Rockeye CBU – 87 99 x 30 x 30 cm 4 5 Maped F1 92 x 28 x 25 cm 7 Putkimiina M/68 64 x 38 x 25 cm 9 Scatmine Blu 92 83 x 45 x 35 cm 10 11 BLU-3 92 x 28 x 25 cm 13 Apple P – 40 63 x 25 x 25 cm 14 Gemss M128 61 x 25 x 25 cm 17 HAMDY HAK-1 68 x 35 x 25 cm 18 19 Butterfly PFM – 1 47 x 35 x 35 cm 20 21 Valmara-69 66 x 25 x 25 cm 22 23 24 Sadeye CBU-75 81 x 25 x 25 cm 25 26 Mon – 50 87 x 55 x 35 cm 27 Pomz – 2M 80 x 35 x 25 cm 28 29 Hornet M93 99 x 30 x 30 cm 30 31 32 Hades BL755 58 x 25 x 25 cm 33 34 SUU – 58 87x 30 x 30 cm 35 36 ADAM M72 107 x 35 x35 cm 37 Claymore M18A1 53 x 25 x 25 cm 38 39 Biography Blake is a contemporary sculptor with a studio in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
