>> WARNING Your Open Box Dual Tuner PVR has been manufactured to meet international safety standards, but you must take notice of the following safety precautions carefully. MAINS SUPPLY Open Box PVR operates with 90–250V AC 50/60 Hz mains supply. Do not connect any of your equipment (Open Box PVR, TV, VCR, etc.) to the mains supply until you have properly connected all the other leads. OVERLOADING Do not overload wall outlets, extension cards or adapters as these can result in fire or electrical shock. LIQUIDS Keep liquids away from the PVR. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus. SMALL OBJECTS Coins or other small objects must be kept away from the PVR as they can fall through the ventilation slots of the PVR and cause serious damage. CLEANING Disconnect the PVR from the wall socket before cleaning it. Use a dry cloth lightly dampened (no solvents) to clean the exterior of the PVR. VENTILATION Do not block the PVR's ventilation slots. Ensure that a free airflow is maintained around the PVR. Never stand the PVR on soft furnishings or carpets. Do not use or store the PVR where it is exposed to direct sunlight or near a heater. 1 >> CONTENTS ATTACHMENTS Do not use any attachments that are not recommended as these may cause hazards or damage the equipment. CONNECTION TO THE SATELLITE DISH LNB Disconnect the PVR from the mains before connecting or disconnecting the cable from the satellite dish. Failure to do so can damage the LNB. GROUNDING The LNB cable must be earthed to the system earth for the satellite dish. LOCATION Locate the PVR indoor avoid possible damage from lightening, raining and direct sunlight. In order to ensure a free flow of air around the PVR allow at least 10 cm of space above and on all sides, especially between the PVR and TV. RESPONSIBILITY Do not use the PVR and its contents for illegal purpose. We are not responsible for any kind of illegal use. Do not use the PVR to backup important data. It can be deleted. We are not responsible for any kind of problems caused by application programs. Now you can comfortably see and receive digitally transmitted music, news, movie and sports satellite broadcasts in your office or at your home. This PVR is equipped with an internal hard disk drive used to record and playback TV and radio programs. It also has two tuner inputs from your satellite dish, allowing you to view or timeshift one channel while simultaneously recording two more channels. Just push pause or record key and you will be always accessible to your preferred programs. One of the distinctive features of Open Box PVR is multimedia functionalities. You can plug your digital camera directly into the USB connector on the front panel and you can enjoy viewing photos on TV with your family and friends. Not just digital camera, but also MP3 player can be played in the same way. JPG photos and MP3 files can be stored in the PVR very easily without having to use PC. Interesting games are embedded in this PVR and you can enjoy playing them on TV. What’s more, an advanced PC Software is provided, allowing you to play videos or view photos on PC as well. Installation Guide will guide you through installation procedures which otherwise can be cumbersome. If you are a sophisticate user of satellite receiver, you can instead search channels using the manual search mode.You can save up to 3,500 TV and 1,500 Radio channels and you can edit the searched channels using Favorite, Lock, Delete, Move, and Sort functions. All functions can be carried out using the remote control and some of the functions can also be carried out using the keys on the front panel. This PVR will be updated with new software, if necessary, which may change some of the functions of the PVR. If you have any difficulties concerning the operation of your PVR, please refer to the relevant section of this manual, including the Troubleshooting. You can stop recording when channel is recorded. In Play Mode, you can stop the current play and switch back to Live Mode. You can exit from any menu and switch back to the screen. Volume Up /Volume Down (Left Arrow /Right Arrow) You can control audio volume. You can move left and right in menu mode. Play Stop You can see top menu window when watching live TV. You can switch back to the previous menu window in menu mode. Channel Up /Channel Down (Up Arrow /Down Arrow ) You can change channel up and down. You can move up and down in menu mode. You can rewind playback in five steps (x2, x4, x8, x16, x24). You can start up timeshift when automatic timeshift option is enabled. In Live mode, you can see the list of recorded program. TV/SAT Press number 0 button, you can toggle between VCR through and Internal A/V. PIP You can use the Picture in picture to watch different program at the same time.PIP window appears when watching live TV. 9 CHAPTER 3>> CONNECTING PVR To set up PVR, you should connect your PVR to satellite antenna and TV. You can connect to TV using SCART cable or composite cable. Because PVR has two tuners, you can make connection to antenna in various ways. Also you can connect to other devices to use extended features: VTR, Digital Audio Amplifier, PC and USB devices. • CONNECTING TO TV USING THE RF CABLE Plug in RF cable to the RF output port on your PVR; then connect the other end to TV. SCART – TV ✍ Note>>> TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR If you get any problem to connect your PVR,, contact local distributor. CONNECTING TO TV You can connect PVR to TV via SCART cable, Composite cable and RF cable. TV • CONNECTING TO TV USING SCART CABLE Plug the SCART cable in to the SCART input port on your PVR; then connect the other end to TV. TV CONNECTING TO THE SATELLITE ANTENNA SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR Because PVR has two tuners,you can select antenna setup mode:loop through, sameseparated and different-separated. • LOOP THROUGH Only tuner 1 is connected to the antenna. Connect the antenna cable to the tuner 1 input port on your PVR. Connect the appropriate cable to the tuner 1 output port; then connect the other end to tuner 2 input port. • CONNECTING TO TV USING THE COMPOSITE VIDEO AUDIO CABLE Plug the composite video audio cable in to the video audio output port (RCA-type output port) on your PVR; then connect the other end to TV. TV ✍ Note>>> During recording, you can watch only limited channel. When recording goes on, you can watch channels in the same polarity of the channel being recorded. 1 Antenna SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR 10 11 • SAME-SEPARATED CONNECTING TO VCR Tuner 1 and tuner 2 are connected to the antenna each. Even during recording, you can watch all the channel. Connect the antenna cable to the tuner 1 input port, and connect the other antenna cable to the tuner 2 input port. Two tuners share the same broadcasting signal from one antenna. • CONNECTING TO VCR USING SCART CABLE Plug in the SCART cable to SCART output port on your PVR; then connect the other end to VCR. When you set up, you should select "Separated" in connection type. For more information,see ”Easy Installation” on page 17. Each tuner get the different broadcasting signal from different antenna. When you set up, you should select "Separated" in connection type. Plug in the composite video audio cable to video audio output port (RCA-type output port) on your PVR, then connect the other end to VCR. For more information, see “Easy Installation” on page 17. SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR 2 Separated Antennas VCR SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR 12 13 CONNECTING TO AUDIO CONNECTING TO PC • CONNECTING TO THE HI-FI SYSTEM • CONNECTING TO PC USING USB CABLE Connect composite audio cable to the hi-fi audio system and connect the other end to your PVR. You can connect PVR to PC with included USB cable. Plug in the USB cable to the USB 2.0 port on your PVR; then connect the other end to PC USB 2.0 port. After connecting to PC, you can use included PC program to manage multimedia data in your PVR: MP3, JPEG, Recorded Video and so on. Audio system For more information, see "USB ports" on page 71. SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR PC • CONNECTING TO DIGITAL AUDIO EQUIPMENT USING S/PDIF CABLE (SONY/PHILIPS DIGITAL INTERFACE) If you have digital audio equipment, you can connect it to PVR using S/PDIF Plug in the appropriate cable to the S/PDIF port on your PVR, then connect the other end to digital audio equipment. SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR • CONNECTING TO PC USING SERIAL CABLE You can connect PVR to PC using Serial cable (RS-232-C). Connect the appropriate serial cable to the serial port on your PVR; then connect the other end to PC. PVR has 4-pin and 9pin serial port. You can transfer channel data with Satco-DX application. For more information, see page 44. SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR Digital Amp PC 14 15 CHAPTER 4>> GETTING STARTED CONNECTING TO USB DEVICES EASY INSTALLATION You can connect USB storage device and USB camera from various manufacturers: Canon, Sony, Nikon, Olympus, Samsung and so on. Plug in the appropriate USB cable to the USB port in the front of your PVR; then connect the other end to the USB device. You can see the files in the device when you use "MP3 player" or "Photo Album". PVR provides the step-by-step installation feature. If no channel exists, Easy Installation window appears when you first purchase your PVR or when you do Factory Default so that no channels are stored. And you can also choose [Main Menu] >>[3 Installation] >>[1 Easy Installation] later. For more information, see page 65. Easy installation steps are listed as below: CA Slot 1 USB Slot 1 1 Select Language 2 Select Antenna Connection Type 3 Select a Satellite for Tuner 4 Satellite Setup 5 Channel Search 6 Time Setup Press [Green] button to move to the next step and press [Red] button to go back to the previous step. You can quit Easy Installation by pressing [Exit] button. USB Storage device or USB camera 1 SELECT LANGUAGE Select Language by pressing [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. Supported languages are English, Italian, Turkish and Russian. CONNECTING TO OTHER PVR USING SERIAL CABLE You can connect your PVR to other PVR using serial cable. You can update firmware and transfer channel data. You can easily share setup configuration with other PVR. For more information, see page 44. Your PVR has two integrated satellite tuners, so you can make connection to satellite antenna in various ways: Loop-Through, Same-Separated and Different-Separated. For more information, see page 46. SCART – TV TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 OUT TUNER 1 OUT SCART – VCR SCART IN TUNER 1 IN TUNER 2 IN TUNER 1 OUT TUNER 2 OUT SCART OUT Other receiver 2 SELECT ANTENNA CONNECTION TYPE If Tuner 2 input port is connected to Tuner 1 output port, you should select “Loop Through”. And If Tuner 2 input port is separated from Tuner 1, you should select “Separated”. When you choose “Separated”, “Tuner 2 Signal Configuration” is available. If Tuner 2 input is connected to the same antenna with Tuner 1, for example dual LNB antenna; then you should select “Same as Tuner 1”. If Tuner 2 is connected to different antenna from Tuner 1; then you should select “Different from Tuner 1”. ✍ Note>>> If you have any problem, contact local distributor. 16 17 3 SELECT A SATELLITE FOR TUNER • TO ADD A SATELLITE FOR TUNER Scroll the list by pressing [Up Arrow] button or [Down Arrow] button; then select a satellite by pressing [OK] button. Most popular satellites are shown on the top of list. You can select a continent you want by pressing [Blue] button; then you can view the list arranged by the selected continent: Europe, Asia, Atlantic, America and All. • TO REMOVE SATELLITE You can toggle focus between the two lists by pressing [Yellow] button. Move focus to the right side list; then remove a satellite by pressing [OK] button. ✍ Note>>> If you select “Different-Separated” in the previous step, you should add satellite for each tuner 1 and tuner 2: you should do this step twice. 4 SATELLITE SETUP You can configure each satellite you choose: LNB Type, LNB low frequency, LNB high frequency, 22kHz Control and DiSEqC input. • TO SET UP LNB Choose “LNB Type”; then press [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. You can select LNB Type: 5150, 9750, 10750, 11300 and Universal. Your PVR suggests a proper LNB Type and LNB Frequency by analyzing the satellite information. Press [OK] button to set up detailed information: LNB Type, LNB low frequency and LNB high frequency. • TO SET UP 22KHZ SWITCH CONTROL Choose “22kHz Control”; then select “On” or “Off”. • TO SET UP DISEQC INPUT Choose “DiSEqC Input”; then select proper DiSEqC input: 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, Mini A, Mini B and Disable. • TO CHECK SATELLITE SIGNAL You can see the satellite signal quality at the right side in the window. Choose “Transponder”; then select Transponder in the satellite. You can also see the specific transponder signal quality. Channel in the transponder will be shown if it is available to receive broadcasted signal. • TO SET UP MOTORIZED ANTENNA Choose “Motorized Antenna”; then press [OK] button. For more information, see page 51. ✍ Note>>> If you select “Same-Separated” in the previous step, you should choose which tuner is connected to motorized antenna. 18 19 CHAPTER 5 CHANNEL SEARCH After setting up all the satellite you select, channel search dialog appears. You can save satellite configuration and start searching channel by selecting OK and pressing [OK] button. • TO CANCEL SEARCHING CHANNEL Press [Red] button to cancel searching. ✍ Note>>> If you stop searching, only those channels searched before you cancel the process will remain and move to the next procedure: Time Setup. 6 TIME SETUP The correct time setting is critical to many functions in PVR; your PVR provides two ways of time setting: Manual Time Setting and Automatic Time Setting • MANUAL TIME SETTING You can set current time and day manually. PVR keeps the current time until power cable is plugged off. When PVR gets started up again, Time Setup window will appear; then you have to set the current time. 5>> BASIC OPERATION Your PVR has four operation modes. Functions are slightly different according to the current operation mode. Operation modes are listed as below: • LIVE Live mode is when you watch live program: TV or Radio. • TIMESHIFT Timeshift function comes in handy when you have to briefly stop watching TV to answer the door or the phone. If you push the pause key, from then the channel starts to be recorded. When you return and push the pause or play key, you can view the program from the spot you stopped. So, it will be same as viewing a live program. Timeshift mode refers to this mode. • RECORDING Recording mode is when you record channels while watching a live program. • PLAYING Playing mode is when you watch a recorded program. ✍ Note>>> You can see check current mode by pressing [Info] button. • AUTOMATIC TIME SETTING To avoid the troublesome manual setting, your PVR provides automatic time setting. After selecting “Auto” in Time Mode, set your local time in Set Local Time. Select a channel to receive time data; then the current time is synchronized to the time information of the channel that you specified. When PVR gets started up, you don’t need to set up time. ✍ Note>>> If Time Mode is Automatic, your PVR shows the channel defined for automatic time setup when PVR starts up after disconnecting power. If Time Mode is Manual, your PVR show the last watching channel. • TO FINISH EASY INSTALLATION After setting up time, choose “OK”; then press [OK] button. 20 21 • TO START UP Press [Power] button to start up PVR. • TO CONTROL VOLUME Press [VOL–] button or [VOL+] button to control volume. • TO SET UP UHF Press [UHF] button to set up UHF; UHF Setup window appears. • TO SEND SIGNAL THROUGH TO VCR Press [TV/SAT] button to toggle between VCR--through and Internal A/V. CHANNEL INFORMATION BOX • TO MUTE AUDIO Press [Mute] button to toggle between normal audio and muted audio. Channel Information Box show general information about current PVR operation and channel status. FTA or CAS Audio Track And Audio Count EPG : Next program in EPG • TO CHANGE AUDIO OUTPUT • TO SEE CHANNEL INFORMATION Press [OPT] button; then select the audio output: stereo, left mono and right mono. Press [Info] button to see channel information box. Also, you can see detail channel information by pressing [Info] button when channel information box appears. • TO CHANGE SUBTITLE Press [OPT] button; then select the subtitle. • TO ADD CURRENT CHANNEL TO THE FAVORITE Press [OPT] button; then select "Favorite" and press [OK] button. And you can select the favorite group you want. 22 23 CHAPTER 6>> LIVE MODE Live mode is when you watch live program. It is the default operation mode when PVR gets started up. Hot keys are provided for easy access. • TO SEE RECORDED PROGRAM LIST Press [Recording] button to see Recorded Program List Window. For more information, see "Recording List" on page 59. BASIC CHANNEL NAVIGATION • TO SEE FAVORITE LIST • TO NAVIGATE CHANNEL Press [FAV] button to see Favorite Group Window. Select a Favorite Group; then select channel in the favorite group you choose. You can navigate channel by pressing [Up Arrow] button or [Down Arrow] button. ✍ Note>>> Channels can be navigated in a selected channel group. You can change channel group by selecting favorite group. Press [FAV] to change favorite group. • TO CHANGE CHANNEL You can change channel by pressing channel number. You can see EPG information in the channel, and make instant reservation to record or tune TV programs. For more information, see "Program Guide" on page 39. • TO SWITCH BETWEEN TV AND RADIO Press [TV/Radio] button to switch between TV service and Radio Service. • TO JUMP TO PREVIOUS CHANNEL You can jump to the previously watched channel by pressing [PreCH] button. EXTENDED FUNCTION KEYS • TO SEE RECORDED CHANNEL LIST Press [Red] button to see Recorded Channel List; the Recorded Channel Dialog only appears when PVR records channels. You can switch to the channel being recorded by selecting it on the list. • TO SEE CHANNEL GUIDE Press [OK] button to see Channel Guide Window. Channel Guide help you to find the channel you want. For more information, see "Channel Guide" on page 35. • TO SEE SATELLITES AND ITS CHANNELS Press [SAT] button to see Satellite List. You can easily access the channels in the specific satellite. • TO SEE REMINDER LIST Press [Reminder] button to see Reminder List Window. You can make instant reminder to record or tune a TV program. For more information, see "Reminder List" on page 63. 24 25 INSTANT RECORDING TIMESHIFT You can record program instantly when watching live program. If you press [REC] button; then Recording Dialog appears. Recording options such as starting record time, duration and decryption can be configured. If you want to record immediately, just press [OK] button. Recording starts after 5 seconds if there is no response. When you have to briefly stop watching TV to answer the door or the phone, you can start timeshift recording of the channel you were watching. This way you can continue watching it from the spot that was paused. • TO START TIMESHIFT Press [Pause] button to start timeshift. You can pause a live program and in this state recording of the paused channel starts. And then press [Play] button or [Pause] button again to view the paused live channel. Operation mode is switched from Live mode to Timeshift mode. • TO START TIMESHIFTING PROGRAM AUTOMATICALLY • TO SELECT TIME TO START RECORDING Choose “Start Record”; then select start time by pressing [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. You can start recording within two hours. You can also start recording immediately. When automatic timeshift option turns on, Timeshift function automatically starts whenever you change channel. Press [REW] button or [Jump–] button; then you can rewind the program. Operation mode switches from Live mode to Timeshift mode. For more information about automatic timeshift option, see “Automatic Timeshift” on page 59. • TO SELECT RECORDING DURATION Choose “Duration”; then select Recording Duration, 4 Hours duration is default. You can change duration from every one minute up to 10 Hours. Also you can change the recording duration by pressing color button; _Red button ➝ Decrease the recording duration by 1 hour _Green button ➝ Increase the recording duration by 1 hour _Yellow button ➝ Decrease the recording duration by 10 minutes _Blue button ➝ Increase the recording duration by 10 minutes • TO FORCE DECRYPTION WHILE RECORDING Choose “Force Decryption”; then select “On” to force decryption. By default, your PVR does not decrypt it when recording encrypted channel. STOP RECORDING • TO STOP RECORDING Press [STOP] button to stop recording: when recorded program exists, Stop Recording Dialog appears. It shows Recorded Channel Number, Channel Name and Recording Duration. You can select the channel to stop recording, and press [OK] button. 26 27 TELETEXT PICTURE IN PICTURE Your PVR decodes Teletext information and provides some functions to navigate teletext pages. You can watch two channels simultaneously using PIP. Press [PIP] button to start PIP. Press [PIP] button again to close PIP screen. • TO START TELETEXT Press [TEXT] button to see teletext. • TO GO TO NEXT OR PREVIOUS PAGE Press [Up Arrow] button to go to next page; Press [Down Arrow] button to go to previous page. • TO NAVIGATE LINK ON THE WINDOW Press [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button to navigate links on the teletext window. You can select PIP channel in the list. • TO SWITCH CHANNEL BETWEEN MAIN SCREEN AND PIP SCREEN Press [Yellow] button to switch between Main Screen and PIP Screen. The PIP channel shows on the main screen, and vice versa. • TO SEE RECORDING PIP Press [PIP] button again to watch recordings in PIP window. You can change the recording by pressing [Yellow] or [Blue] button. • TO CLOSE PIP WINDOW Press [PIP] button again to close PIP window. ✍ Note>>> PIP is available only in live mode. Press [Blue] button to switch between screen and teletext. ✍ Note>>> Teletext is available only when service provider sends teletext information. 28 29 CHAPTER 7>> PLAYING MODE Playing mode is when you watch recorded program. Basic playback control features are available: Stop, Pause, Rewind, Fast Forward Playback and Slow Motion Playback. And you can use bookmark to play recordings. PLAYBACK CONTROL • PLAY INDICATOR • TO REWIND Press [REW] button to rewind toward the start of the recording. You can control playback speed by pressing [REW] button repeatedly. Keep pressing button to go faster: x2, x4, x6, x8, x16 and x24. • TO FAST FORWARD Normal Playback Press [FF] button to fast forward toward the end of the recording. You can control playback speed by pressing [FF] button repeatedly. Keep pressing button to go faster: x2, x4, x8, x16 and x24. Rewind Playback • TO PAUSE Fast Forward Playback Press [Pause] button to pause playback. Slow Motion Playback • TO PLAY SLOW-MOTION Pause Press [Slow] button to slow motion playback. You can control playback speed by pressing [Slow] button again. Keep pressing button to go slower: x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6 and x7. Simple Time Line Guide • TO DO NORMAL PLAYBACK • TO SEE TIME SLIDER Press [OK] button to see time slider. The play head indicates which point in the recording currently is played. Start Recording Time is shown on the left side and End Recording Time is shown on the right side. The Bookmark marker appears above timeline if you add bookmark on the recording. Press [OK] button again to hide time slider. Press [Play] button to do normal playback. You can resume normal playback. • TO STOP PLAYBACK Press [Stop] button to stop playback; then leave the Playing mode; then go back to the previous mode before entering Playing mode. • TO JUMP FORWARD AND BACKWARD Press [Jump-] button to jump back 30 seconds from current position. Press [Jump+] button to jump forward 30 seconds at a time. • TO SEE RECORDING IN PROGRESS Press [Red] button to see channels being recorded, and If there is recording in progress, Recording Channel List appears. Select a channel in the list, and press [OK] button; then channel is changed to the selected channel. • TO JUMP FORWARD AND BACKWARD BY 10%OF RECORDED DURATION Press [Yellow] button to jump backward, and Press [Blue] button to play forward. Current position appears in the left side above time slider. ✍ Note>>> When recording duration is short, you can jump to the position at 50% of the recorded duration. 30 31 CHAPTER BOOKMARK 8>> MAIN MENU The Main Menu window appears by pressing [Menu] button when you watch a live program. You can set bookmark when watching recorded program. Using bookmark, you can jump to the position quickly and easily using bookmark function. When time slider appears, you can see bookmark position above the time line. • TO ADD BOOKMARK Press [Bookmark] button to add bookmark while watching recorded program in playing mode. Markers show the bookmark position in the recorded program. • TO SEE BOOKMARK LIST Press [Green] button to call up Bookmark List Window. Thumbnails of scene are arranged by time order; you can navigate bookmark list by pressing [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. Press [Menu] button or [Exit] button to close the window; then go back to the main screen. • CHANNEL GUIDE You can browse channels by sorting and listing in various ways: numeric ordering, alphabetical ordering, ordering by satellite and so on. You can list channels by selecting favorite group and by selecting satellite. You can switch between TV channel list and radio channel list. And also you can get detail information about a channel. For more information, see “Channel Guide” on page 35. • ORGANIZE CHANNELS You can edit TV and Radio channels: renaming, locking, unlocking, rearranging, skipping and deleting channel. And you can edit TV and Radio favorites: creating, renaming and deleting. And you can manage your favorite channels: adding and removing the selected channel to your favorite list. • TO DELETE BOOKMARK IN RECORDED PROGRAM In Bookmark List Window, you can delete the highlighted bookmark thumbnail by pressing [Red] button. You can delete all the bookmarks in the recorded program by pressing [Green] button. • TO START PLAYBACK AT THE BOOKMARK In Bookmark List Window, press [OK] button to start playback at the selected bookmark position. • TO START PLAYBACK AT EACH BOOKMARK Press [SAT] button in the Play mode; then start playback at each bookmark in the recorded program. Also, you can see the program schedule for another day and channel. You can see more detail information about the program. For more information, see “System Setup” on page 41. • INSTALLATION You can use installation features to get signal from satellite: tuner setup and searching channel. You can set up motorized antenna (DiSEqC 1.2/USALS). And you can manage satellite and transponder information. When recording goes on, tuner being used appears in the bottom of the list. 34 35 CHAPTER 10>> ORGANIZE CHANNEL Choose [Main Menu] >>[2 Organize Channel]. ✍ Important>>> By default,this feature is protected. Default password is 0000. Choose [Main Menu] > [6 User Reference] >[3 Appearance Setup]; then you can change this option. For more information, see page 56. ✍ Note>>> During recording, Organize Channel feature is not available. You should stop recording first. USING EDIT CHANNEL Choose [Main Menu] >>[2 Organize Channels] >>[1 Edit TV Channels]. ✍ Note>>> “2 Edit Radio Channel” works same as ”1 Edit TV Channel”. • TO CHANGE CHANNEL NAME Choose [Main Menu]>[2 Organize Channels]>[1 Edit TV Channels] >[2 Rename Channels]. You can change channel name. Select a channel in the list; then press [OK ] button. Navigate screen keyboard with arrow keys; select character you want, and then press [OK] button; then the selected character is typed in text field. After typing new name, select “Save” in screen keyboard and press [OK] button. Press [Red] button to switch input mode: Capital Letters, Small Letters, Number and Special Letters. Press [Green] button to move cursor left. Press [Yellow] button to move cursor right. Press [Blue] to delete a character. • TO REARRANGE CHANNEL Choose [Main Menu]>[2 Organize Channels]>[1 Edit TV Channels]>[3 Rearrange Channels]. You can change the position of channel in the list. Select a channel in the list;then press [OK] button. If small arrow icon appears beside item; then change position by pressing [Up Arrow] button or [Down Arrow] button. Set the position by pressing [OK] button again. Press [Menu] button or [Exit] button to save the result. • TO HIDE CHANNEL Choose [Main Menu] >[2 Organize Channels]>[1 Edit TV Channels] >[4 Skip Channels]. You can hide channels; make invisible in the list. Select a channel in the list; then press [OK] button. The channel name is dimmed. To make it visible, select dimmed channel, and press [OK] button again. Press [Menu] button or [Exit] button to save. • TO LOCK AND UNLOCK CHANNEL Choose [Main Menu]>[2 Organize Channels]>[1 Edit TV Channels] >[1 Lock Channels]. Select channel to protect; then press [OK] button. If you lock the channel, password is needed when you try to watch it; you prevent children from watching it. If you press [OK] button again, protection is canceled. For more information about password management, see page 56. • TO DELETE CHANNEL Choose [Main Menu]>[2 Organize Channels]>[1 Edit TV Channels] >[5 Delete Channels]. Select a channel in the list; then press [OK] button. The channel is marked by red line. Press [Red] button to select all the channels in the list. To cancel, press [Red] button again. Press [Menu] button or [Exit] button to save. ✍ Note>>> You can sort and list channels: by satellite, by favorite and by alphabetical order. • TO ORDER LIST BY SATELLITE Press [Green] button; then select a satellite in popup window. • TO ORDER LIST BY FAVORITE Press [Yellow] button; then select a favorite in popup window. • TO SORT LIST Press [Blue] button; then select a sorting method; numeric order, alphabetical order (From A to Z) and reverse alphabetical order (From Z to A). 36 37 CHAPTER USING EDIT FAVORITE GROUP Choose [Main Menu] >>[2 Organize Channels] >>[3 Edit TV Favorites]. ✍ Note>>> “4 Edit Radio Favorites” works same as “3 Edit Radio Favorites”. 11>> PROGRAM GUIDE Choose [Main Menu] >>[3 Program Guide]. Press [EPG] button in live mode. You can see program guide for the channel you watch. And you can record program or make recording reservation. The EPG provides detail information about programs. ✍ Note>>> EPG can be different depending on the satellite service provider. ✍ Important>>> It is not available to group TV and Radio channels together in the same favorite group. You should separate TV favorite group and Radio favorite group. • TO CREATE FAVORITE GROUP Choose [Main Menu]>[2 Organize Channels]>[3 Edit TV Favorites]>[1 Create Favorite List]; then screen keyboard appears. ✍ Note>>> You can create favorite groups up to 8. • TO CHANGE FAVORITE GROUP NAME Choose [Main Menu] >>[2 Organize Channels] >>[3 Edit TV Favorites] >>[2 Rename Favorite List]. Select a favorite group in the list, and press [OK] button; then screen keyboard appears. You can change favorite group name using screen keyboard. • TO DELETE FAVORITE GROUP • TO SEE PROGRAM GUIDE OF OTHER CHANNEL Press [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. • TO RESERVE RECORDING OR WATCHING PROGRAM Select a program in the list; then press [OK] button to make reservation to record the program. You can just reserve to watch the program by pressing [OK] button again. ✍ Note>>> If PVR detects conflict with other existing reservations or recordings, Conflict Management Dialog helps you to resolve the problem. Choose [Main Menu] >>[2 Organize Channels] >>[3 Edit TV Favorites] >>[3 Delete Favorite List]. Select a favorite group in the list; then press [OK] button. • TO ADD A CHANNEL TO FAVORITE GROUP Choose [Main Menu]>[2 Organize Channels]>[3 Edit TV Favorites]>[4 Add/Remove Favorite List]; then select Favorite group. If no favorite group exists, you should create new group first. Select a channel in the list; then press [OK ].The channel is added to the rightside list titled “Channels In Favorite”. You can switch focus between the lists by pressing [Red] button. • TO SEE PROGRAM GUIDE OF OTHER DAY • TO REMOVE A CHANNEL FROM FAVORITE GROUP • TO FIND PROGRAM Choose [Main Menu]>[2 Organize Channels]>[3 Edit TV Favorites]>[4 Add/Remove Favorite List]; then select Favorite group. Press [Red] button to switch focus to the list on the right side. You can find a program by program finder. EPG is cached at the PVR and you can find the program very fast from the huge amount of EPG data. Press [Green] button to see program finder window. Press [Yellow] button to see the programs of a day after. The available number of date depends on the service provider. You can keep changing the day by pressing [Yellow] button. Select a channel in the list; press [OK ] button. The channel is removed from the list on the right side. Press [Menu] button or [Exit] button to save. 38 39 CHAPTER • TO CHANGE CATEGORY IN PROGRAM FINDER WINDOW In program finder, you can search by composition of three categories: Date, Provider and Genre. _Press [Red] button to select category. _Press [Green] button to go back. _Press [Yellow] button to go forward. 12>> SYSTEM SETUP Choose [Main Menu]>[4 System Setup]. You can set up general PVR system features: TV Screen, Time, CI, Firmware, Hard Drive Format and USB Device. SETTING UP TV Choose [Main Menu] >[4 System Setup] >[1 TV Setting]. The PVR has many A/V Outputs. Control this menu properly according to external components connected to the PVR. _Press [Blue] button to jump to the next program by one hour. You can book recording and tune program by pressing [OK] button. The operation is same as in the previous EPG list window. • TO SEE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PROGRAM Select a program in the list; then press [Info] button. • TO SET UP AUDIO VIDEO OUTPUT Choose [1 AV Settings] >>[1 Video Output]. Select the video mode for the video output; CVBS, SVideo, RGB and YPbPr. • TO SET UP AUDIO OUTPUT • TO SEE PROGRAM GUIDE IN TABLE STRUCTURE Choose [1 AV Settings] >>[2 Audio Output]. Press [Red] button to see Program Guide in Grid. You can browse channel with more ease. Press [OPT] button in live mode. Select a program in the table; then press [OK] button to record instantly or to make recording reservation. Select the audio mode for audio output; Stereo, Left Mono and Right Mono. • TO CHANGE ASPECT RATIO Choose [1 AV Settings] >[3 Aspect Ratio]. Select an aspect ratio of video output: “4:3“ and “16:9”. TV standard is “4:3” and HDTV standard is “16:9”. • TO CHANGE DISPLAY FORMAT Choose [1 AV Settings] >>[4 Display Format]. It is only available when aspect ratio is “4:3”: Select the display format: Pan-and-Scan and Letterbox. • TO CHANGE SCREEN POSITION Choose [3 OSD Position Setup]. Set screen position by pressing [arrow] keys. • TO CHANGE TV STANDARD Choose [4 TV Settings]. Select TV standard: PAL and NTSC. 40 41 SETTING UP UHF MODULATOR Choose [Main Menu] >>[4 System Setup] >>[2 UHF Setting]. Press [UHF] button in live mode. • TO SET CURRENT TIME IN MANUAL MODE Choose [1 Time Mode]; then select Manual. Choose [2 Set Local Time]; then select a time zone; GMT offset of the local area. Set year, month and day with [Right Arrow] and [Left Arrow] button. Choose [4 Year]; then select year. Choose [5 Month]; then select month. Choose [6 Day]; then select day. Choose [7 Current Time]; then enter current time by pressing numerical buttons. • TO CHANGE CHANNEL Choose [2 UHF Setting] >[1 UHF Channel]. Set UHF Channel: From 21 to 69, Default channel is 36. • TO CHANGE UHF STANDARD Choose [2 UHF Setting] >>[2 UHF Standard]. Select UHF Standard; PAL G, PAL I and PAL K. • TO SET CURRENT TIME IN AUTOMATIC MODE Choose [1 Time Mode]; then select Manual. Choose [2 Set Local Time]; then select a time zone; GMT offset of the local area. Choose [4 Time Setup Channel]; then select the channel you want to receive time information. Choose [7 Setup Time Now]; then PVR try to get time information from the selected channel. The current time appears in [5 Current Date] and [6 Current Time]. • TO SET SUMMER TIME SETTING UP TIME Choose [Main Menu] >>[4 System Setup] >>[2 Time Setting]. ✍ Note>>> During recording, this feature is unavailable. You should stop the recording first. Choose [3 Summer Time]; then select Enable. CI (COMMON INTERFACE) MODULES Choose [Main Menu] >>[4 System Setup] >>[3 Common Interface]. Select a CAM (Conditional Access Module) in the list ; then press [OK] button to see detail information of installed CI module. • ABOUT TIME SETTING MODE You can set current time in two ways: manual and automatic. In manual mode, you should set up time manually. While power cord is plugged, PVR keeps the current time. But after unplugging it, you should set the current time again. In automatic mode, you can resolve this by automatically getting time information from a channel. You should select the channel for automatic time setting. ✍ Note>>> In manual mode, “Time Setup” window will appear when you turn on PVR. In automatic mode, the timereceiving channel will be tuned first when you turn on PVR. 42 PVR MANAGEMENT Choose [Main Menu] >>[4 System Setup] >>[4 STB Management]. You can protect this feature by password. For more information, see “User preference” on page 56. ✍ Note>>> It is not available when recording is in progress. You should stop recording first before using this feature. 43 • TO SEE SOFTWARE VERSION Choose [1 System Information]; then press [OK] button. ERASING DATA Choose [Main Menu] >>[4 System Setup] >>[5 HDD Management]. • TO RETURN PVR TO FACTORY DEFAULT Choose [2 Factory Default]; then press [OK] button. You can return your PVR to factory default state. ✍ Warning>>> All the data and configurations will be lost: channel and satellite configuration including favorite group. And Easy Installation will appear to help installation. Data in HDD such as recording, MP3 and Jpeg will not be lost until you format it. • TO SEND FIRMWARE TO OTHER PVR Connect your PVR and the target PVR via serial cable (RS-232 ). Turn on the target PVR. • TO ERASE ALL RECORDINGS Choose [1 Format Recording]; then press [OK] button. Choose [3 Transfer Firmware]; then press [OK] button. For more Information, see “Connecting to other PVR using Serial Cable” on page 16. ✍ Warning>>> You shouldn’t disconnect while data is being transferred. • TO SEND CHANNEL DATA TO OTHER PVR Connect your PVR to target PVR via serial cable (RS–232). You can back up data to PC using USB connection. CONNECTED USB DEVICES Choose [Main Menu] >>[4 System Setup] >>[6 USB Devices]. You can see the list of USB devices connected to your PVR. • TO RECEIVE SATCO-DX CHANNEL DATA FROM PC Connect your PVR and PC via serial cable (RS-232 ). Open Satco-DX software in PC. You can search channel with Satco-DX software. Choose [5 Satco-DX]; then press [OK] button. Open Programming Wizard in Satco-DX software, and click program receiver button. For more Information, see “Connecting to PC using Serial Cable” on page 15. ✍ Note>>> You should set Satco-DX File Format to “Satco-DX Industry Standard Protocol”, and set transfer baud rate of COM port to 115,200. ✍ Warning>>> You shouldn’t disconnect while data is being transferred. 44 45 CHAPTER 13>> INSTALLATION Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation]. Select antenna number; one tuner supports up to 32 satellites. ✍ Note>>> The antenna number doesn’t have a practical meaning. 2 SELECT SATELLITE NAME Choose [2 Satellite Name]. USING EASY INSTALLATION Select a satellite by pressing [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. Press [OK] button; then satellite list appears. The list is put in alphabetical order. Scroll the list and select a satellite. Easy Installation is a step-by-step procedure for user convenience. At the first time your PVR gets powered on after purchasing, easy installation starts automatically. You can use easy installation later to manage your PVR. For more information about easy installation, see “Getting Started“ on page 17. ✍ Note>>> SETTING UP ANTENNA MODE 3 SET UP LNB Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[2 Antenna Setup] >>[1 Connection Type]. If you cannot find the satellite you want, you should create new satellite information. For more information, see “To Create New Satellite Information” on page 53. Choose [3 LNB Frequency]. Your PVR has two tuners; two LNB input ports. You can connect both tuners to antennas independently: Separated Connection. Press [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button to select LNB type and LNB Frequency: 5150, 9750, 10750,11300 and Universal. Press [OK]button; then LNB setup window appears. You can set up detail LNB options: LNB type, LNB low frequency and LNB high frequency. • SINGLE MODE ✍ Important>>> • DUAL MODE In single mode, tuner 1 is connected antenna, and tuner 2 input port is connected to tuner 1 output port: Loop-through connection. For more information about antenna connection, see “Connecting to the satellite antenna” on page 11. • TO SELECT TUNER 1 TO SET UP Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[2 Antenna Setup] >>[2 Tuner 1 Setup]. • TO SELECT TUNER 2 TO SET UP Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[2 Antenna Setup] >>[2 Tuner 2 Setup]. Your PVR suggests a proper LNB frequency by analyzing the satellite you choose. 4 22KHZ CONTROL Choose [4 22 kHz Control]. Select “On” or “Off”. 5 SELECT DISEQC INPUT SWITCH Choose [5 DiSEqC Switch Control]. Select a DiSEqC Switch options; Disable, 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4, 4 of 4, mini A and mini B. Your PVR is DiSEqC compatible, so you can connect more antennas using DiSEqC switching device. If PVR receives signal from satellite, Signal Strength and Signal Quality will show below. ✍ Note>>> “Tuner 2 Setup” works exactly the same as “Tuner 1 Setup”. 46 47 6 SELECT TRANSPONDER Choose [6 Transponder]. Select a transponder in the satellite by pressing [Right Arrow] or [Left Arrow] button. If PVR receives signal from satellite, you can watch the channel provided in the transponder. ✍ Note>>> If you cannot find the transponder you want, you should create new transponder information. For more information, see “To Create New Transponder Information” on page 54. • TO SAVE CURRENT ANTENNA SETUP Choose [7 Save]; then press [OK] button. • TO DELETE SATELLITE Choose [1 Antenna Number] and select satellite you want to delete. Press [Yellow] button to delete. USING CHANNEL SEARCH Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[2 Channel Search]. There are three searching modes: Auto, Manual and Advanced. By default, channel searching mode is “Auto”. PVR scan all the transponders in the satellite in Auto mode. In Manual mode, you can select a transponder to scan. In Advanced mode, you can scan only one channel by specifying the satellite information: Transponder frequency, Polarization, Symbol Rate, Video PID, Audio PID and PCR PID. • TO SELECT SATELLITE TO SEARCH CHANNEL Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[2 Channel Search] >>[1 Select Satellite]. Select satellite by pressing [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. • AUTOMATIC CHANNEL SEARCH Choose [2 Automatic Search]; then press [OK] button. You can set up channel searching options. ✍ Note>>> If you Don’t save, the deleted satellite will be recovered. • NETWORK SEARCH Your PVR scan transponder information in signal when searching channels. If new transponder is found, PVR adds it automatically. ✍ Note>>> If you disable “Network Search”, channel searching will be little bit faster. • FTA OR CA SEARCH Only FTA channels or CA Channels are searched. • TO START SEARCH Choose [3 Start Search]; then press [OK] button. You can see searched channels; TV and Radio, a summary of the founded channels will be displayed when the scanning is completed. • TO CANCEL CHANNEL SEARCHING If you want to cancel searching in progress, press [Menu] button or [Exit]button. Select [OK] in confirm dialog;then press [OK] button. 48 49 MANUAL CHANNEL SEARCH Choose [3 Manual Search]; then press [OK ] button. USING MOTORIZED ANTENNA CONTROL Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[3 Motorized Antenna]. • TO SET UP MOTORIZED ANTENNA WITH DISEQC 1.2 a Select a tuner that is connected to the motorized antenna you want to set up. b Choose [Select Tuner 1]; then press [OK] button. Or Choose [Select Tuner 2]; then press [OK] button. c Choose [1 Satellite Select] and select the satellite in the tuner.. d Choose [2 Select Transponder] and select the TP in the satellite. • TO SEARCH CHANNELS IN THE TRANSPONDER (TP) e Choose [3 Motorized Antenna Control] and select [ DiSEqC 1.2]. Choose [1 Select Transponder]. Select a TP in the satellite by pressing [Right Arrow] button or [Left Arrow] button. TP information will show below; TP frequency, polarization and symbol rate. You can also see the signal quality of selected TP. f Choose [4 DiSEqC 1.2 Mode] and select the mode: “User”and “Installer”. ✍ Note>>> If you can find TP you want, you should create new TP. For more information, see page 54. ADVANCED CHANNEL SEARCH Choose [4 Advanced Search]; then press [OK] button. • USER MODE a Select “User” in [4 DiSEqC 1.2 Mode]. b Choose [5 Motor Control] and select actions: “GoTo” and “Store”. c Select a “GoTo” to control motorized antenna. d Choose [6 Movement] to find the antenna position with the best signal quality. e Select the number of step between 1 and 60, and direction; East (E)and West (W). Select 0 is to stop the motor. f Choose [7 Action] and press [OK] button to move the antenna. If you find the position, choose [5 Motor Control]; then select “Store”. To search specific channel, you should know detail information about channel and transponder; Video PID, Audio PID, PCR PID, Transponder Frequency, Transponder Polarization and Symbol Rate. You should enter each value correctly by pressing numerical buttons. ✍ Note>>> You should enter each value without exception. g And choose [7 Action] and press [OK] button to store current antenna position. • INSTALLER MODE a Select “Installer” in [4 DiSEqC 1.2 Mode]. b Choose [5 Motor Control] and select actions; “Go To East”, “Go To West”, “Stop”, “Reset”, “Set Limit East”, “Set Limit West”, “Limits Off”and “Store”. c Choose [6 Action] and press [OK] button. The actions are listed below: a “Go To East” and “Go To West”- Keep driving the antenna until you press [OK ] button 50 51 again. b “Reset “-Reset the antenna position. c “Set Limit East(E)” and “Set Limit West(W)”- Set current position to the maximum step of the direction. USING EDIT SATELLITE Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[4 Edit Satellite]. d “Limit Off”-Reset the limits. If you find the position, choose [5 Motor Control] and select “Store”; then choose [7 Action] and press [OK] button to store the current antenna position. • TO SET UP MOTORIZED ANTENNA WITH DISEQC 1.3 (USALS ) a Select a tuner that is connected to the motorized antenna you want to set up. b Choose [1 Satellite Select] and select the satellite in the tuner. • TO CREATE NEW SATELLITE INFORMATION c Choose [2 Select Transponder] and select the transponder in the satellite. d Choose [3 Motorized Antenna Control] and select [DiSEqC 1.3 (USALS)]. Choose [6 New Satellite]; then press [OK] button. Enter new satellite name in screen keyboard. e Enter your local latitude and longitude in [4 My Latitude] and [5 My Longitude]. ✍ Note>>> f Choose [7 Go To the Position] and press [OK] button to drive the motorized antenna. You can create satellite up to 200 satellites. Newly created satellite has no transponder. You should add new transponder for the satellite. • TO SET UP LONGITUDE OF SATELLITE Choose [5 Edit Satellite Longitude]. Enter longitude number by pressing numerical buttons; then select East (E) or West (W). • TO DELETE SATELLITE INFORMATION Choose [7 Delete Satellite]; then press [OK] button. ✍ Warning>>> If you delete satellite, all the transponders and channels in the satellite will be deleted too. 52 53 CHAPTER USING EDIT TRANSPONDER Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 Installation] >>[5 Edit Transponder]. 14>> USER PREFERENCE Choose [Main Menu] >>[5 User Preferences]. You can set up general PVR preferences: Language, Timer, Parental Lock, Screen Appearance and PVR recording options like Timeshift. LANGUAGE • TO SET UP LANGUAGE Choose [1 Language Setup]>[1 OSD Language]; then select language: English, German, Turkish and Russian. By default, menu language is English. • TO CREATE NEW TRANSPONDER INFORMATION Choose [1 Satellite Name] to select satellite you want to add new transponder to. Choose [5 New Transponder]; then press [OK] button. Enter new transponder information: Transponder Frequency, Polarization and Symbol Rate. ✍ Note>>> You can create new transponder up to 3,000. • TO DELETE TP INFORMATION Choose [6 Delete Transponder]; then press [OK] button. ✍ Note>>> • TO SET UP SUBTITLE LANGUAGE Choose [1 Language Setup]>[2 Subtitle Language]; then select language for default subtitle language: English, French, Deutsch, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Greek, Turkish, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Dutch, Russian and Korean. • TO SET UP AUDIO LANGUAGE Choose [1 Language Setup]>>[3 Audio Language]; then select language for default audio language. • TO SET UP SI (EVENT)LANGUAGE Choose [1 Language Setup]>[4 SI(Event)Language]; then select language for default event language. If you delete a transponder, channels in the transponder will be deleted too. TIMER • TO SET UP SLEEP TIMER Choose [2 Timer Setup] >>[1 Sleep Timer Control]. You can set timer to make PVR sleep: every 15 minutes for 6 hours later. When you set timer, “Sleep Time” appears below. ✍ Note>>> It does not affect any recording reservations. PVR can start recording in sleep mode. 54 55 PARENTAL LOCK PVR SETUP • TO PROTECT ITEMS BY PASSWORD • TO ENABLE AND DISABLE AUTOMATIC TIMESHIFT OPTION Choose [3 Parental Control]. You can protect features by password: Receiver, Age Rating, Installation and STB Management. Choose [4 PVR Setup] >[1 Automatic Timeshift]; then select “On” to turn on Automatic Timeshift. If you enable Automatic Timeshift, you can do trick play whenever you watch a live program. If you turn off Automatic Timeshift, you should press [Pause] button to enter timeshift mode when watching live program. But you can reduce the power consumption. When “Receiver Lock” is turned on, you should enter password to start up your PVR. When “Installation Lock” is turned on, you should enter password to start “Installation” in menu: when you choose “Main Menu” >> “5 Installation”. When “STB Management Lock” is turned on, you should enter password to start “STB Management” in menu: when you choose [Main Menu] >>[4 System setup] >>[4 STB Management]. • TO CHANGE PASSWORD Choose [3 Parental Control] >>[5 Change PIN]; then press [OK] button. Enter new password by pressing numerical buttons and select OK in confirm dialog. • TO SET UP HARD DRIVE SIZE FOR TIMESHIFT Choose [4 PVR Setup] >[2 Timeshift Buffer Size]; then select hard drive size from 1 to 8 GB. One GB hard drive can handle the recording for a half hour. ✍ Note>>> If Timeshift Recording buffer grows over the limit, PVR overwrites the previous Timeshifted Recording. • TO SET UP HARD DRIVE MANAGEMENT OPTION Choose [4 PVR Setup] >>[3 DISK Management]; then select “Manual” and “Automatic”. APPEARANCE If you select “Automatic”, when hard disk drive becomes full, PVR erases old recordings with the least priority. • TO SET DURATION FOR SHOWING CHANNEL INFORMATION If you select “Manual”, when the space of hard disk gets full, PVR shows a warning message, and stops recording. Choose [4 Appearance Setup] >[1 InfoBox Duration]; then select how long channel Information will appear: 5 sec, 8 sec, 10 sec, 12 sec, 15 sec and Don’t show. • TO SHOW OR HIDE RECORDING DIALOG WHEN STARTING RECORDING For more information about Channel Information, see “Channel Information Box” on page 23. If you select “Enable”, recording dialog appears when you start recording in live mode. You can set up current recording options:starting time, duration and decryption. • TO SET DURATION FOR SHOWING PLAY INDICATOR Choose [4 Appearance Setup] >[2 Play Indicator Duration]; then select how long Play Indicator will appears: 5 sec, 8 sec, 10 sec, 12 sec, 15 sec and Don’t show. Play indicator is time slider that shows you current playing position in Play mode. For more Information, see “Play mode” on page 30. Choose [4 PVR Setup] >>[4 Prompt On Recording] and select “Enable” and “Disable”. For more information, see “Instant Recording” on page 26. If you select “Disable”, you can record a program instantly. By default, PVR keeps recording program until you stop recording by pressing [Stop] button or hard drive get full. • TO SAVE OPTIONS Choose [5 Save]; and press [OK] button. • TO SET VOLUME BAR Choose [4 Appearance Setup]>[3 Volume Bar]; then select “On” to show volume control bar, or otherwise select “Off”. 56 57 CHAPTER EPG SETUP • TO ENABLE EPG CACHING 15>> RECORDING LIST Choose [Main Menu] >>[7 Recording List]. Press [Recording] button when you are watching a live TV program. You can browse and find recorded programs. Choose [1 EPG Caching]; then select “On” to enable EPG caching. EPG data from service provider will be automatically cached into the PVR hard disc. So, you do not need to wait for EPG next time. • TO GRABBING EPG Choose [2 EPG Grabbing]; then select “On” to enable EPG Grabbing. You can set up time and channel for grabbing EPG. PVR will get EPG data everyday at a defined time automatically. • TO GRABBING EPG INSTANTLY Choose [5 Grab EPG Now]; then press [OK] button. If you don’t select channel to grab, Current channel’s EPG will be updated. ✍ Note>>> Grabbing EPG for many channels is a heavy process taking long time. We suggest you to set up EPG grabbing time at a time when you are not using PVR, as 12:00 PM. • TO WATCH RECORDED PROGRAM Select the program in the list by pressing [Right Arrow] and [Left Arrow] key. Press [OK] button to watch the recording. • TO WATCH RECORDED PROGRAM IN PREVIEW WINDOW Select the program in the list by pressing [Right Arrow] and [Left Arrow] key. Press [PLAY] button to watch the recording in preview window. • TO DO BASIC PLAYBACK IN PREVIEW WINDOW When you watch a program in preview, playback control is available. Press [REW] to rewind, Press [FF] to fast forward playback. Press [SLOW] to slow motion playback and press [PAUSE] to pause. • TO SORT RECORDING LIST Press [Green] button to change sorting method; sorting by channel name, recorded date and recorded duration. Press [Yellow] button to switch direction between UP and DOWN: in order and in reverse order. • TO SEE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PROGRAM Press [Info] button to see more information about program. To close, press [Info] button again. • TO SWITCH BETWEEN TV AND RADIO RECORDINGS. Press [TV/Radio] button to switch from TV Recording to Radio Recording or vice versa. • TO MANAGE RECORDINGS Press [Red] button to manage recordings; Delete, Rename, Copy, Cut, Merge and Lock. 58 59 EDIT RECORDING Press [Red] to manage recordings. You can manage recorded video; deleting, renaming, copying, cutting, merging and protecting. You can change the type of recorded program: Erasable and permanent. Sorting methods are provided as same as “Recording List”: by channel number, channel name, recorded time and duration. First, you should select action to use by pressing [Red] button. Selected action is highlighted on top of the window. 2 Select the spot to end copying Press [Red] button to copy to the arrow in timeline. Press [Green] to copy to end of recorded video. The position is marked with red, and the area to be copied is determined. 3 Copy or Cancel Press [Red] button to do copy. Copy progress dialog appears, and copied recording gets new name with prefix "C:" Press [Green] button to cancel copying; then you should start again. ✍ Note>>> You can do trick play: Fast-forward, Rewind, Pause and Slow Motion playback by pressing video control buttons. To Quit Copying Area Selection Press [Stop] to leave. • TO CUT RECORDED VIDEO • TO DELETE RECORDED VIDEO Select action [Cut] by pressing [Red]button. Select a program in the list; then press [OK] button. Select a program in the list; then press [OK] button. The selected program is marked red. The recorded video starts to play with timeline indicator. You should set the area to cut away by pressing [Red] or [Green] button. To delete, press [Red] button; then select [OK] in confirm dialog. 1 Select the Position to Begin Erasing Select action “Delete” by pressing [Red] button. • TO RENAME RECORDED PROGRAM Select action “Rename” by pressing [Red] button. Press [Red] button to erase from the arrow in timeline. Press [Green] button to erase from the beginning of recorded video. The position is marked green, and the area to be copied turns into blue. Select a program in the list; then press [OK] button. You can enter new name using screen keyboard window, or you can change recorded video name to the name of show. By default, channel name is set to recording name. 2 Select the Position to End Cutting ✍ Note>>> 3 Cut or Cancel The maximum length of name character is 32. By default, program name shows in text field in screen keyboard. When the name is long, you should delete character first to enter new name. Press [Red] button to do erase. Press [Green] button to cancel cutting, you should start again. • TO COPY RECORDED VIDEO ✍ Note>>> Select action [Copy] by pressing [Red] button. Select a program in the list; then press [OK] button. The recorded video starts to play with timeline indicator. You should set copying area by pressing [Red] or [Green] button. Press [Red] to erase to the current arrow in timeline. Press [Green] button to erase to end of recorded video. The position is marked red, and the area to be erased is determined. You can do trick play: Fast-forward, Rewind, Pause and Slow playback by pressing video control buttons. To Quit Cutting Area Selection Press [Stop] to leave. 1 Select the Position to Begin Copying Press [Red] button to copy from the small arrow in timeline. Arrow indicates current playing position in the recording. Press [Green] button to copy form the beginning of recorded video. The position is marked with green, and the area to be copied turn into blue. 60 61 CHAPTER • TO MERGE RECORDED VIDEO Select action "Merge" by pressing [Red] button and select a program to merge. If you select a program in the list, number appears at the left side of the selected program. Press [Red] button to merge selected program. 16>> REMINDER LIST Choose [Main Menu] >>[8 Reminder List]. Press [Reminder] button when you are watching a live program. ✍ Note>>> Only recordings in the same channel can be merged. • TO CHANGE RECORDING TYPE Select action "Change Type" by pressing [Red] button and select a program to change recording type: Permanent and Erasable. By default, recorded video is erasable. You can see recording type by small icon on the left side; is Erasable and is Permanent. • TO CREATE REMINDER Press [Red] button to create new reminder; then reminder window appears. • TO LOCK RECORDED VIDEO Select action "Lock" by pressing [Red] button. You should enter password to use this feature; then you select a recording to lock in the list, and press [OK] button. If the program is protected, small appears on the left. To unlock, press [OK] button again. Choose [1 Create Name] and select a channel you want to reserve. ✍ Note>>> Choose [2 Event Type] and select a reminder type: Record and Tune. If a recorded video is protected, you should enter password to watch, delete and merge. If you choose “Record”, you can make a reminder for recording the selected channel. If you choose “Tune”, you make a reminder for watching the selected channel. • TO SET DATA AND TIME Choose [4 Start Date]; then select date by pressing [Right Arrow] and [Left Arrow] key. Choose [5 Start Time]; then enter time by pressing [numerical] buttons. • TO SET DURATION Choose [6 Duration]; then select recording duration: every 5 minutes for 50 hour. By default, the duration is 4 hour. • TO RECORD TV SERIES PROGRAM Choose [3 Frequency]; then select options: Daily,Weekly and Weekday. If you choose “Daily”, PVR starts recording at the set time for everyday. If you choose “Weekly”, PVR starts recording at the set time for every week. If you choose “Weekday”, PVR starts recording at the set time for weekdays. • REMINDER TYPE You can see reminder type by checking small icon in the right side. Green means recording reservation. Green means tuning reservation. Red “T” means that recording is in progress: You can stop recording by pressing [Green] button. 62 63 CHAPTER • TO DELETE REMINDER Select a reminder in the list and press [Yellow] to delete the reminder. 17>> MULTIMEDIA/GAMES USING MP3 PLAYER Choose [Main Menu] >>[9 Multimedia/Games] >>[1 MP3 Player]. • TO STOP RECORDING Select a reminder in the list and press [Green] to delete the reminder. RECORDING RESERVATION CONFLICT • TO RESOLVE RESERVATION CONFLICT If PVR detects reservation conflict, “Conflict Dialog” appears. If you select “OK”, you can see the list of reminders that conflict with each other. • TO BROWSE MP3 FILES IN PVR Press [OK] button to enter a folder, and browse mp3 files by pressing [Right Arrow] button and [Left Arrow] button. You can scroll up and down the list; then MP3 information appears on the right side: song title, artist, genre, encoding bit rate and so on. • TO CONTROL VOLUME Press [Green] button to increase volume and press [Red] button to decrease volume. • TO EDIT CONFLICT ✍ Note>>> Press [OK] button to edit conflict. You can change the recording start time or recording duration. If conflict is resolved, the red bar turns into white; then “Conflict Resolved” message appears. [VOL+] button and [VOL-] button are unavailable, because they are used to scroll the list as [Right Arrow] button and [Left Arrow] button. Select [OK] and press [OK] button. • TO PLAY MUSIC INSTANTLY Select a MP3 in the list; then press [Play] button. You can fast forward, rewind and pause during playing MP3 file. • TO SELECT MP3 TO ADD PLAY LIST • USING AUTOMATIC CORRECTION Press [Green] button to resolve conflict automatically. • TO DELETE CONFLICT REMINDER Select the conflict reminder in the list. Press [Red] button to delete it. If conflict is resolved, the red bar turns into white; then “Conflict Resolved” message appears. Select a MP3 in the list; then press [Blue] button to select MP3 to play. If you select a MP3 file, “+” icon appears at the right side of item. In MP3 player mode, you can listen only selected MP3 files. To cancel selection, press [Blue] button again. ✍ Note>>> If you do not select any MP3 file, you can listen all the MP3 files in the current directory. Select [OK] and press [OK] button. 64 65 MP3 PLAYER MODE USING MP3 FILE OPERATION • TO PLAY MUSIC WHILE WATCHING LIVE PROGRAM Select a folder or a file in the list; then press [Yellow] button. In File Operation, you can manage MP3 files as deleting, copying, moving and creating a new folder. Select a MP3 in the list; then press [OK] button to enter MP3 player mode. You can hear MP3 while watching a live broadcast. In this mode the audio of the selected channel is deactivated. Once you enter into File Operation mode by pressing [Yellow] button, you can navigate only in the selected folder. To access other folders you need to get out of File Operation by pressing Menu button. ✍ Note>>> It is not available to use File Operation in root folder. • TO SHUFFLE PLAY Press [Blue] button; and choose “Shuffle”, and select “On”. • TO CREATE NEW FOLDER Press [Red] button; then enter new folder name by using screen keyboard window. • TO REPEAT PLAY ✍ Note>>> In MP3 Player mode, press [Blue] button; and choose “Repeat”, and select options: On, Current and Off. Select “On” to repeat all MP3 in the folder. Select “Current” to repeat only current MP3. • TO DELETE FOLDER OR FILE • TO CONTROL VOLUME Select a folder or file to delete in the list; then press [Green] button. In Confirm window, select OK and press [OK] button. Press [VOL+] button and [VOL-] button to control volume. • TO SELECT MP3 Press [Up Arrow] button and [Down Arrow] button to select MP3 to listen. Press [Jump Up] button and [Jump Down] button to select MP3 to listen. • TO LEAVE MP3 PLAYER MODE Press [Exit] button or [Menu] button to close MP3 Player and go back to the MP3 file list. The maximum length of folder name character is 32. • TO COPY FOLDER AND FILE TO DESTINATION PATH Select a folder and file to copy; then press [Yellow] button. Focus is switched to the target list in the right side. Select destination folder to copy to in the target list. You can choose slide effect: Normal, Scroll Up, Scroll Down, Scroll Right, Scroll Left and Swelling. • TO BROWSE JPEG FILES IN PVR Press [OK] button to enter a folder, and browse JPEG files by pressing [Right Arrow] button and [Left Arrow] button. You can scroll up and down the list; then press [OK] button to enter the slide show mode. You can see photo in preview, when you select a JPG file in the list. • TO VIEW IN THUMBNAILS You can see thumbnail list of photos by pressing [Green] button. You can browse the list by pressing [arrow] keys. Press [OK] button to enter the slide show mode. • TO ROTATE PHOTO IMAGE Press [Red] button to rotate image. Image rotates 90 degree to clockwise direction when you press [Red] button repeatedly. You can check the result instantly when you change the option. You can select the duration for photo transition: 3 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec and 9 sec. You can determine whether indicator on the top-right side will show or not. • TO WATCH A LIVE BROADCAST IN SLIDE SHOW MODE Press [Blue] button to watch a live broadcast in PIP. You can select channel by pressing [Up Arrow] button and [Down Arrow] button. ✍ Note>>> If it is unavailable to watch current channel, PIP window remains as blank. • TO CONTROL VOLUME In slide show mode, you can listen audio from a live broadcast. You can control volume by pressing [VOL+] and [VOL-] button. • TO CHANGE THE POSITION OF PIP WINDOW • TO SEE PHOTOS IN SLIDE SHOW MODE Select a photo in the list; then press [OK] button to enter slide show mode. ✍ Note>>> To see the help panel, press [OK] button in slide show mode. Press [Yellow] button to change PIP screen position: Up-Right, Down-Right, Down-Left and Up-Left. • TO LEAVE SLIDE SHOW MODE Press [Menu] button or [Exit] Button. CHAPTER >> MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION WITH PC SOFTWARE • USB PORTS There are two USB ports in PVR: one on the front panel and one on the rear panel. Front USB port: USB 1.1 host controller is used for devices as digital camera and MP3 player. Rear USB port: USB 2.0 high-speed is used for connection with PC. ✍ Note>>> • TO START GAME Select a game in the list; then press [OK] button to start game. When you select a game, Game Screen Image and Information are shown on the right side. To use PC Software, you should connect PC via USB 2.0 port on rear panel. For more information, see “Connecting to PC” on page 15. • INSTALL PC SOFTWARE In order to install PC Software for PVR, please follow the below instructions: • TO INSTALL GAME 1 Insert the included CD-ROM to your CD ROM Drive. In PC Software, select “Game” menu and transfer downloaded game binary image. Games are on the CD-ROM. And games will be released on the web. 2 Select "Setup.exe"; then click. • TO UNINSTALL GAME 3 When installation is completed, reboot your PC. DirectX 9 runtime library is needed. Select a game in the list; then press [Red] button to uninstall game. • TO CONTROL GAME Use Arrow Keys to control movement and use [OK] button to do action. Press [Right Arrow] button to move right. Press [Left Arrow] button to move left. Press [OK] button to do action in the specific game. • TO QUIT GAME Press [Exit] button or [Menu] button to quit game. The following window will appear. • USING RECORD MANAGER You can exchange recorded videos, MP3, JPG files between PC and PVR. Also, you can choose to play each file on PC. Press [Record] button in the PC program. Then “Record Manager” program appears as follows. • MENU AND OPERATION As in the above window, there are independent icons for the following purposes: Record, MP3, JPEG, Games and Upgrade. • BASIC OPERATION DOWNLOAD : To transfer selected files or directories from PC to PVR. UPLOAD : To transfer selected files or directories from PVR to PC. You can transfer recorded files between PVR and PC if PVR is connected to your PC. If PVR is not connected, [Record Manager] program works in stand-alone mode, and you can playback previously downloaded recordings from your PC hard disk. REFRESH : To refresh the contents of current directory. DELETE : To delete selected files. NEW FOLDER : To create new folder. BACK &FORWARD : Path History MULTI-VIEW in Record Manager and JPEG Manager : To show contents in thumbnailmode. RADIO in Record Manager only : Toggle TV/Radio Recordings. When PVR is connected to your PC, you can transfer MP3 files between PVR and PC. Also, you can play MP3 files in PVR using this program in addition to files in your PC. If PVR is not connected, “MP3 manager” program works in stand-alone mode. You can search and playback MP3 files from your PC hard disk. “SatcoDX Import” in Channel Manager: Managing Satco-DX channel information • MOUSE OPERATION Drag-and-drop to transfer selected files between PVR and PC. Double click to play selected files. 72 73 • USING JPEG MANAGER Press [JPEG] button in the PVR MANAGER program. Then [JPEG MANAGER] program appears as follows. USING CHANNEL MANAGER You can edit channels from your PC via USB connection. • EDIT CHANNEL DATA You can transfer JPG files between PVR and PC, if PVR is connected to your PC. Slide-show functionality is also provided regardless of location of the files. JPEG Manager has thumbnail view option: Multi-view. If PVR is not connected, JPEG Manager works in stand-alone mode. You can search and playback JPG files from your PC hard disk. You can edit your PVR channel data in a specified file format: User Favorite File (uff file). This file contains all the channel information including favorite group list. If you once create it, then you can use it for other PVR as well. • COMMUNICATING WITH PVR You can load channel data from PVR and edit it in the way you want. After editing it, you can send it back to the PVR. Then, the channels will be displayed as in the way you edited in PC. • FAVORITE GROUP MANAGEMENT • USING GAME/PLUGIN MANAGER You can install games on PVR. Click “Game” Icon; then dialog appears to load game image file. Select a game image file, and click “...” button. If selected game image file has the correct format, the game is transferred and installed automatically in your PVR. You can edit PVR favorite group in your PC Program: creating favorite, adding channel to the group, removing from it, renaming and deleting favorite group. • SATCODX IMPORT SatcoDX is a widely known satellite channel information protocol. You can import SatcoDX data to your PVR. • UPGRADE You can upgrade firmware of PVR easily using this program. First please select files to be updated using [...] button and press [Start] button. If the receiver does not work normally after completing the following trouble shooting, please contact your local receiver distributor. RF (Radio Frequency) 1. NO MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED ON THE FRONT PANEL OR RECEIVER HAS NO POWER. Frequencies occupied by radio waves of the total frequency range of electromagnetic waves. √ Check the power cord and check if it is plugged into a suitable power socket. SCART 2. The receiving level can be influenced by weather. √ Replace LNB with the one with low noise factor if the noise factor is high. √ Replace LNB with a new one if it is damaged or out of order. 4. NO OR POOR SOUND √ Check the volume level of the TV and Receiver. √ Check the mute status of the TV and Receiver. √ Press the Audio button to change the Sound Track type. 5. REMOTE CONTROLLER DOES NOT OPERATE. √ To control the equipment with the remote controller, the remote controller's top end should directly point towards the receiving part of receiver's remote controller. √ Check the battery of Remote controller. 6.
