Inconnu Lodge Wilderness Northern Lights Adventures in Canada’s Yukon Territory. The Northern Lights Adventure is a combination of soft adventure, fall colors, deluxe accommodations, zero light pollution and spectacular northern lights. By day, you can canoe, hike some of the trails surrounding the lodge, take one of the many optional side trips offered or just relax. By night, enjoy a gourmet meal, spend time by the bonfire, set up your camera gear and get ready for the light show. Lodge Facts Inconnu Lodge is located one hundred and eighty air miles east of Whitehorse in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Situated on the north shore of McEvoy Lake, the lodge is forty miles west of the Northwest Territories - Yukon border and one hundred twenty five miles north of the British Columbia - Yukon border. Its far away from any lights and on cool crisp evenings, the sky is alive with stars and the Aurora Borealis. Activities Inconnu Lodge offers its clients a vast variety of daily activities, including but not limited to canoeing, hiking in the boreal forest, wildlife photography and optional side trip for fishing and alpine heli-hiking. With a vast amount of land as your playground, each Inconnu Lodge guest has the unique opportunity to explore and experience the majesty of the Yukon by day and view the Aurora Borealis by night. Wildlife is abundant and canoes, paddles and life jackets are included so anyone is able to embark on a wilderness canoe or hiking trip any time. The main focus each night will be the northern lights. There are many locations to chose from so each evening you can set up in a different location depending on where the lights are active. A great addition to your viewing is to watch the northern lights from the lake side hot tub and sauna. Your Journey to Reach Us As this ultimate destination is in the heart of the Yukon Territory, you would begin your adventure by flying into Vancouver, British Columbia or Calgary, Alberta. From there, hop on Air Canada, Air North or WestJet, nonstop to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. Here you will spend a night and then the following morning our expeditor will pick you up for the flight to Inconnu Lodge. We book hotel reservations in Whitehorse at the High Country Inn well in advance for all clients. The hotel also provides a shuttle service to and from the airport. Just one possible week… Day 1 Arrive at Inconnu Lodge around noon. Orientation meeting, unpack and spend the balance of the day exploring the surrounding area. Have a gourmet dinner with wine and then enjoy the games room and relax in the lounge. After dinner, play shuffle board or shoot a game of pool. Prepare your camera gear and set up for your first night of northern lights viewing. Day 2 Have breakfast. Spend the day canoeing on McEvoy Lake paddling and looking for wildlife. Moose, caribou, bald eagles, osprey, falcons, trumpeter swans, loons and ducks can be seen daily. A day pack with lunch and beverages will be prepared for you. Have a gourmet dinner with wine and then enjoy the games room and relax in the lounge. After dinner, play shuffle board or shoot a game of pool. Prepare your camera gear and set up for your second night of northern lights viewing. Day 3 Have breakfast. Schedule a guided day of fishing on McEvoy Lake or fly-out to one of the many remote lakes or rivers. Fish for lake trout, arctic grayling and some of the biggest northern pike in the north. Prepare your camera gear and set up for your third night of northern lights viewing. Day 4 Have breakfast. Schedule an alpine heli-hike and spend the day hiking and exploring above tree line. Return to the lodge and before dinner, grab a paddle and canoe around McEvoy Lake looking for more wildlife. Have a gourmet dinner with wine and then enjoy the games room and relax in the lounge. Prepare your camera gear and set up for your fourth night of Northern Lights viewing. Day 5 Have breakfast. Enjoy a morning hike on the shores of McEvoy Lake. Pack for your departure and enjoy a scenic flight to Whitehorse. A great addition to your Inconnu Lodge northern lights adventure is to take one of our three side trips. There is a lot to see and do without scheduling a side trip but they are available to those guests who would like to experience more of the Yukon Territory. Extra side trip prices: Guided day of fishing on McEvoy Lake. $200.00 per person based on two anglers. Fully guided trips including boats and all fishing gear. Spend the day fishing for lake trout and northern pike on McEvoy Lake and fish for arctic grayling in McEvoy Creek. A full lunch with beverages is supplied. Based on availability. Alpine helicopter hiking. $250.00 per person based on three hikers. Fully guided. Enjoy a helicopter flight up to the alpine and spend the day hiking and viewing wildlife. The fall colors are beautiful and the views are amazing. A full picnic lunch with beverages will be prepared. Be sure to bring your camera because the photography is amazing. Based on availability Virginia Falls on the South Nahanni River. $400 per person based on 6 people sharing flight. Spend the day exploring Virginia Falls which is twice the height of Niagara Falls. Nahanni National Park Reserve removes docks from the Nahanni River sometime in September. The dates may vary from year to year for closing so inquire about the availability of this trip while at the lodge.
