To select the best Eco-cute
Standard model; Heat pump unit and 3,000 liter storage tank unit.
The standard model for the ITOMIC Industrial-use Eco-cute consist of
one heat pump unit, one 3,000 liter storage tank unit, and one remote
control. However, depending on the hot-water supply conditions of the
facility, customization and combinations with other water heater systems are available.
Here are the some tips for selecting the best products.

Standard system

This is a standard system composed of an Eco-cute
heat pump unit and a storage tank unit only. When a
large volume of hot water is required, multiple units of
Eco-cute are connected in parallel or installed in each
hot-water supply area.

When multiple units of Eco-cute are installed, an optional control function for multiple units can be built if
desired.(→ See P.11 "Change in specifications")
Circulated hot water system
To prevent undesirable temperature drop at the supply
outlet. Our electric in-line heater EIL can be added as a
booster to circulation process, or changing the system
to Heat-up circulation specification is another option.

season and/or weekdays, Eco-cute alone may not be
able to supply necessary quantity. If that is the case,
we recommend this system to cover the deficiency,
where Eco-cute as primary supplier and boilers to

Meets your needs
Cost reduction
▶ Eco-cute is a high efficiency water heater using minimum of electric power.
▶ Electricity is energy with little fluctuation in price.
▶ The initial cost will decrease when reusing existing equipment or in combination with storage tanks and combustion type boilers.

Eco-friendly and safe facilities

Kubota Corporation Keiyo Factory
The welfare building of our institute had used LPG as a
water heater fuel for the bathrooms and lavatories for
a long time. However, the Rationalization in Energy Use
Law imposed CO 2 emission reductions, which forced
us to switch to water heater equipment that could effectively and immediately reduce CO2 emissions. During
renovation, we installed ITOMIC Eco-cute, which was reportedly more effective in reducing CO2 emissions than
other water heater equipment. And now, two years after
installation, the remarkable advantage that we obtained

Hosei University Junior and Senior High School
In order to bring out the full energy-saving effect, this
institute selected equipment based on an energy-saving
plan made by an energy service company. The construction was completed recently, and the energy-saving effect has not been concretely measured yet. However, we

Ajigaura Hot Spring NOZOMI
The installation of two ITOMIC Eco-cute was triggered
by a proposal from Tokyo Electric Power Company, Ibaraki Branch, including equipment maintenance and the
reduction in running cost, about five years after opening the facility. The plan and the actual operation are
as follows: on weekdays Eco-cute heats water until the
evening and the boiler starts operation after the hot
water runs out. This system meets our demand and
contributes to the reduction in operating cost. Now we

Our first priority is resident's safe, comfortable life and
that all facilities employ safe, reliable, and eco-friendly
All electrification. On opening in March 2006, we selected earth- and human-friendly ITOMIC Eco-cute as water
heater equipment.“Human-friendly”means safety. Ecocute that does not use fire brings no anxiety so that we

Musashi Institute of Technology
The Yokohama Campus of Musashi Institute of Technology
(Faculty of Environmental and Information Studies) became
the first educational institution in Japan to acquire the international environmental standard ISO14001 certification

Salt resistant and High salt resistant specifications
Heat-up circulation specifications
These specifications include a coating applied to the exterior and
main components according to the Japan Refrigeration and Air
Conditioning Industry Association Standard (JRA9002), which prevents sea salt particles fl owing on salt breezes from adhering to
the equipment and causing corrosion. In high salt resistant specifi cations, the number of coating applications (thickness) is more
than that in the salt resistant specifications.
These specifications ensure that the hot water is circulated to
prevent heat discharge in the plumbing. Select this to build a circulated hot water system with initial cost reductions where the
hot-water supply load is not high. (However, if the hot-water supply
load is high, consider separately provided electric in-line heater EIL
instead of this system.)

These specifi cations include antifreeze band heaters installed in
the main parts of the heat pump unit and the storage tank unit to
prevent plumbing damage due to freezing in midwinter. (The heaters automatically turn on when the outside temperature drops below 5 ℃ .)
When more than one Eco-cute is installed in parallel and operated
at the same time, variations in the hot-water supply condition of
each unit (drift fl ow) will be generated. The multiple units control
specifi cations only need wiring between the Eco-cute units. The
remaining volume of hot water in each unit is monitored, and the
hot-water supply is automatically adjusted to resolve the variation.

Install the units where cold air from the heat pump unit outlet or operation noise do not annoy neighbors and
consider sound insulation measures. The following space is needed for maintenance inspections. If the space
is less than the following, maintenance may be impossible. Be sure to maintain more space than the following
when designing.

Water supply plumbing
1. Feed water pressure is recommended as 0.2 to 0.3 MPa on the primary side.
2. Use stainless steel or copper pipes for plumbing.
3. Conduct heat insulation work to prevent condensation on the plumbing.
4. If water is expected to freeze, implement antifreeze measures.
Hot-water supply plumbing
1. Use heat resistant plumbing material such as stainless steel and copper.
2. Conduct heat insulation to prevent accidents and heat radiation.
3. When hot water is supplied downwards from the storage tank, install atmosphere open pipe or vacuum
breakers to prevent negative pressure generation.
4. When driving a pipe into the storage tank directly, do not to apply force to the neck portion.
Drain plumbing
1. Do not install valves at the drain outlet and the heat pump unit drain port (air heat exchange drain). Be sure
to conduct indirect drainage treatment instead.
2. The storage tank drains high temperature water. Use heat resistant plumbing material.
Remote control installation
1. Only one accessory remote control should be installed for one heat pump unit. In case the remote control
is installed far from the heat pump unit, extrinsic influence such as noise may cause malfunctions. Implement the necessary measures to avoid any influence from the conduit work or route confirmation. (In particular, do not approximate or parallel the master electric cable to the operation cables.) Do not exceed the
maximum cable length of 50 m.
2. Use shielded cables for the remote control line and be sure to ground one end of the shielded cables.

Eco-cute utilize relatively cheap Industrial thermal storage adjustment contract, and hot water equivalent to 4.5 tons
at 60 ℃ * cost 300 yen per day. Moreover, Industrial All electrification contract enables further running cost reductions. (* 3 tons at 90 ℃ conversion)
Basic contract Industrial thermal storage adjustment contract
If the operation time of a thermal storage type water heater system shifts from daytime (8:00 to 22:00) to nighttime
(22:00 to 8:00), this contract results in a 60 % discount on the electricity bill. ITOMIC Industrial-use Eco-cute is usually operated under this contract.
Calculation: Discount of the thermal storage adjustment contract = Electricity consumption for discount x rate in daytime x discount rate (approx 60 % )

After holding the Industrial thermal storage adjustment contract, if your heat source in the kitchen and air-conditioners are All electrification, you can additionally hold the contract and receive a 7 % discount.

Seasonal mode
This is an energy-saving function; operation pattern per
weekday has been monitored for the past one month
(four weeks) and the required volume of hot water and
operation time are calculated, which prevents unnecessary operation and water temperature decreases due to
natural heat radiation. (This function must be set by our
service personnel.)
As contrasted to normal 90 ℃ operation mode, this
mode varies operation temperature according to the
outside temperature. Using this mode in summer, when
not as much high temperature water is required, reduces
unnecessary boiling and warming operations.

Are any hygiene measures against Legionella required?

Legionella is sterilized over 60 ℃ . Because this unit stores water at over 60 ℃ , the bacteria does not develop.

Is water boiled by Eco-cute suitable for drinking?

How long is the distance between the heat pump unit and the storage tank?

When installed at the same level, the recommendation is 5 m in direct distance (max. 30 m).
In case one is installed on the top of the other, it depends on the installation method.
In case the heat pump unit is on top and the storage tank is on the bottom: real height is 3 m (total plumbing length is 5 m or less)
In case the storage tank is on top and the heat pump unit is on the bottom: real height is 7 m (total plumbing length is 10 m or less)
