IKEA doesn’t offer ideas for how to
design and use their cabinets out
of the kitchen.
This is unfortunate because there
are so many great designs and
areas where IKEA cabinets can be
used - and at a much lower price
than hiring a custom carpenter.
Here are a few of our favorites:
1.
LAUNDRY ROOM
Four kitchen wall cabinets are designed to sit directly
on the countertop (over the washer and dryer) for
laundry products storage. Several EKBY floating
shelves are designed as a space to place things while
folding clothes or ironing.
At roughly 8’ x 11’, it’s a larger area than you may
have, but it could easily be reduced to a 5’ x 7’ area
to work with your smaller space. There’s enough room
for your washer and dryer, sink, storage, as well as an
area to fold clothes and perform other tasks.
These STAT white cabinets cost $2,578.
2.
MUDROOM
Two 24” deep, over- the-refrigerator, wall cabinets
were designed as benches and several wall cabinets
were customized with vertical dividers for open
storage.
This approximately 10’ long area has enough space
for you to sit and remove your boots, store gloves,
hang coats and hide gym bags. There is a space for
everything in this carefully designed area.

HOME OFFICE
We customized PERFEKT wall cabinet cover panels to
make petite alcoves for receipts, envelopes, and other
small paperwork on the desktop. Also, a door-less
base cabinet with a custom divider is conveniently
designed to the left of the chair.
In an approximately 7’ x 7’ corner, there’s open
shelving and a small area to sit and work on your
laptop, pay bills, organize paperwork, or do any other
tasks that require your attention.

CRAFT ROOM
Small, shelf-less and door-less wall cabinets are
grouped together for large item storage. Optimal
drawers with internal storage accessories provide
organized space for smaller pieces.
A small 12’ x 12’ room offers the hobbyist abundant
storage space, ample open surfaces and an efficient,
professional-looking working space.

HUTCH/LARGE STORAGE UNIT
Two door-less wall cabinets are customized with
PERFEKT cover panels to make a potential plate rack,
three niches/alcoves and a large open area on top.
6’ of wall space is enough to display decorative plates,
cookware or anything else you care to store in this
innovative space.

ENTERTAINMENT AREA
Two 24” high wall cabinets next to 30” high wall
cabinets provide a narrow recess for remote controls.
Three stacked 15” high cabinets offer wide open
spaces.
12’ of ample wall space permits personal
customization for a complete, professionally-finished
home entertainment system.

HOME BAR
PERFEKT 3’ x 8’ cover panels cover the back of the
seating area and integrate it with the bar.
Connecting both sides of the wall cabinets encloses
the flat-screen TV.
A 12’ x 12’ area easily gives you a full bar and
comfortable seating for up to seven people.

MAKEUP VANITY AREA
A 24” diagonal wall cabinet designed higher than the
adjoining countertops is convenient. We turned
the additional space between the two counters into a
sit-down make-up area with a mirror.
There’s plenty of unique design in this 7’ x 4’ corner
for a sink, lots of storage and a makeup area.
