AUGUST INTERNTAL BULLETIN A U G U S T 2 1 , 2 0 1 4 INS IDE THIS ISSUE: WE DID IT AGAIN! TEAM, once again this year, we have made it into the top fastest-growing companies. We could it done it without your dedication, support and hard-work. As you know, Inc. 5000 is a magazine that ranks the US top fastest-growing companies according to a four year period revenue and once a year they publish a list of the top 5000 companies in the US. CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE! Our CEO shares the enthusiasm with us: “Congratulations team! Fourth year in a row to make the Inc. 5000 fastest growing private companies list. Not many companies make it once, let alone four times. Awesome Accomplishments!” Take a Smile How often do you smile a day? Did you know that smiling triggers activity in your brain? Your face has 44 muscles in it that allow you to make more than 5,000 different types of expressions, many of which are smiles. Your left frontal cortex is the area of your brain that registers happiness. Smiling happens without much thought. When you watch a friend do something silly or embarrassing, you smirk. When a police officer lets you off without a ticket, you grin. And when you are recognized for your performance in academics or work, you beam. Smiling is a very natural response that shares our happiness with others. (Continue in page 7…) Copyright © 2014 Tiempo Development. All Rights Reserved. And we all have the goal to improve things. Within the workplace, there is always change. Paradoxically, change is perhaps the one constant. Feedback – seeking it, giving it and receiving it – is one of the most effective tools we have for harnessing and promoting change, so that it is to our benefit. Feedback helps us understand things like: What we can change to get better results The rate of progress towards a goal What needs to happen to improve relationships Whether something is worth doing How well we are doing This September we will be performing a 360-degree feedback . . . Stay tuned for more information. On August 6th, our coworkers were surprised by the opening of our new Rec Room in Guadalajara. Cliff, our CEO, was happy to share this accomplishment for everybody. Let’s start playing and enjoy this relaxing space as part of our work environment! As you know, your behavior around others is effected by your environment, whether it is positive or negative. If you're around people with a positive attitude and sense of humor, unconsciously you'll start having positive thoughts and behaviors. On the other hand, if you're in a negative environment, your mind will take all of that and you'll start behaving just like the people around you. Take a smile and take what you need were the themes of the activities for our core value of Delighting the Customer. The purpose of these activities were to spread smiles and a positive environment. Also, a list of psychological needs were posted so you can take “What You Need” in order to continue with your daily activities. You could choose from inspiration, friendship, patience, understanding, etc., anything that motivates you to help build a positive environment that will spread to others. Not everything in life is material or money. Sometimes we just need a little bit of understanding or inspiration in order to keep our feet on the ground and keep working to achieve our goals. This next month we will be having our first Tiempo Culture Week! We will be participating in activities to reinforce our company values and have fun while doing it! Get ready to learn, share, and give the best. And there’s no better way to end the week with a picnic on Saturday. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IT! PAGE 7 TQS Artifacts– Definitions Done The Scrum Guide™ describes the Definition of Done (DoD) as a tool for bringing transparency to the work a Scrum Team is performing. It is related more to the quality of a product, rather than its functionality. As Scrum Teams work together using the Scrum framework to develop a product, it is important for stakeholders and Scrum Teams to understand when a product Increment can be called "Done." This means that before a piece of functionality is in a potentially releasable state, it must adhere to a common understanding of completion by those working on the Increment. Having a clear Definition of Done helps Scrum Teams work together more collaboratively, increases transparency, and ultimately results in the development of consistently higher quality software. The DoD is usually a clear and concise list of requirements that a software Increment must adhere to for the team to call it complete. Until this list is satisfied, a product Increment is not done. During the Sprint Planning meeting, the Scrum Team develops or reconfirms its DoD, which enables the Development Team to know how much work to select for a given Sprint. Further, a common DoD helps to: Baseline progress on work items Enable transparency within the Scrum Team Expose work items that need attention Determine when an Increment is ready for release The Definition of Done is not changed during a Sprint, but should change periodically between Sprints to reflect improvements the Development Team has made in its processes and capabilities to deliver software.
