Beautiful Brides 2016 2 Beautiful Brides 2016 Matt Gould and Breean Rusen Married August 30, 2015 Music & Procession Music: The Danny Kramer Event Band Invitations: Sendsational Cards Bridal Registry: Five Small Rooms Danny Kramer Dance Band voted “Best Entertainment Act Manitoba Saskatchewan” at Canadian Wedding Industry Awards The Danny Kramer Dance Band is Winnipeg’s best party band, dance band and wedding band. It’s the gold standard for events in and around Winnipeg. This incredibly talented group has performed together for years, packing dance floors and creating memories to last a lifetime for its wonderful Brides and Grooms and corporate clients. This is the band to book if you would like your guests to talk about your wedding or event for years to come. Offering band sizes from 6-14 pieces, this band can fit most budgets. Not in Winnipeg? Don’t worry: The Danny Kramer Dance Band loves to travel and can travel to your city or town. “It Was By Far the Most Fun Evening I Have Ever Had in My Life” “My fiancé and I were interested in the idea of a live band for our wedding, but didn’t know where to begin in finding one. Fortunately, we soon attended a wedding that the Danny Kramer Band played at, and we knew they were our band! Danny was professional and easy to work with right from the beginning. We gave him the names of a few of our absolute favourite songs, our favourite styles of music, and as well the general goal of our reception - a multi-generational dance party. I am truly not exaggerating when I say that there was not one square inch of available dance floor for the entire four hours that the band played. We were so happy that the band played a mix of songs that every age of guest enjoyed from my 6-year-old cousin to my husband’s 90-year-old grandmother; nobody could bring themselves to sit down for a break. It was by far the most fun evening I have ever had in my life. We heard over and over again that our guests had never seen so many people on a wedding dance floor, or heard a band as amazing as Danny’s, or enjoyed every single song selection the way they did at our wedding. The Danny Kramer Dance Band exceeded our wildest expectations and delivered the most amazing party for our family and friends - we can’t stop reliving it! “ Laurel and Douglas You can see videos of this group on the web site or go to: http://vimeo.com/115938154 ***Meet Danny at The Wonderful Wedding Show: Booth 741 Recommended by the top event planners and hotels in Manitoba, this band is in extremely high demand. Let Club Regent Arrange An Unforgettable Wedding By BERNIE BELLAN Since the opening of Club Regent’s new Event Centre just over a little more than a year ago, it has become one of Winnipeg’s most popular venues for events of all sorts. While many readers may have had occasion to experience the Event Centre when it was configured for theatre seating, would you be surprised to learn that those tiers of seats can all be removed and the floor made perfectly flat? Thus, a venue that may have been used for a concert one day can quickly become the perfect setting for a wedding or banquet in any number of configurations. The Event Centre can hold up to 550 guests comfortably. State-of-the-art Acoustics For Dancing When you’re ready to hit the dance floor, the Event Centre’s state-of-the-art acoustics will ensure that the money you’ve invested in arranging top flight music will be well spent. The pre-event centre can be used to hold the actual wedding ceremony and/or to host guests prior to the reception in the adjoining room. Remember: Club Regent plays host to some of the biggest entertainment acts to hit Winnipeg, so when it comes to ensuring a thoroughly enjoyable musical experience, no one can beat the quality of its sound. Weddings Built Around You Let Us Transform Your Big Day Anything you can imagine, Club Regent can do. Its Event Centre allows you to customize the floor plan, seating arrangement, and lighting to create your wedding the way you always envisioned. The event planners at Club Regent aim beyond expectations, from the culinary expertise of their executive chef and culinary team, through to the finest detail of settings and décor. Let Club Regent transform your big day into an extraordinary day. The pre-function area of the Event Centre provides a perfect set in which to hold the wedding ceremony itself. With a 4,090 square foot room boasting a 24 foot ceiling height, guests will be seated in a modern and spacious setting prior to entering the reception in the adjoining room. After the ceremony, but prior to the reception, the pre-event area can also serve as a spacious and comfortable venue in which guests can enjoy a cocktail and some hors d’ouevres prepared by the Club Regent’s excellent culinary team. And, once they’re inside the reception area itself, up to 550 guests can be seated comfortably at either round or rectangular tables. If you’re looking for quite a different configuration than one where the members of the head table sit facing your guests, why not try something that was done recently at one wedding held at the Event Centre: Have the head table in the middle of the room, with guests’ rectangular tables branching out from all around the head table? Entrust your culinary desires to Club Regent’s executive chef and culinary team of experts. The culinary professionals at Club Regent aim to deliver culinary delights that will surpass your guests’ expectations. Call the events team today 204.957.2578 or email banquets@mbll.ca Beautiful Brides 2016 5 6 Beautiful Brides 2016 Plan a wonderful wedding reception with perfect table centerpieces Planning your wedding reception is an important part of your wedding preparations. When the actual ceremony is over, that is the time when guests actually sit, relax and notice the arrangements. So it is important that the reception venue should look stunning. While preparing for a reception, stress is put on selecting great food and entertainment, but décor also plays an important role in creating a memorable occasion. The right type of linens, cutlery, table settings and flower arrangements, all help add to the party atmosphere. And one thing that really reflects your taste and personality in décor are centerpieces. Be WOWed at Your Next Event. All the guests spend a majority of their time at the reception sitting around their table. They eat, drink and chat with friends at the dining table, so it is vital that a pleasant atmosphere is created. Table centerpieces generate that ambiance and give guests an insight into the couple’s personality and taste in décor. This is why a wide number of factors need to be considered while selecting centerpieces: • Budget: Ascertain the number of tables at your reception and the number of centerpieces required. This will determine the budget you should allocate for each centerpiece. • Space: Visualize the space available on each table and establish the appropriate size of the centerpiece. You should think about the comfort of your friends and family and stay clear of bulky designs that will block their view and will not allow them to see the couple or the dance floor. • Lighting: Depending on whether you are holding the reception outdoors or indoors and whether it is a day or night event, you can even incorporate candles and tea lights in your centerpiece. • Theme: Make sure that you do not pick flowers for their own splendor. Visualize the entire venue and see the bigger picture of how the centerpieces will look on the tables as a whole. • Color: You should avoid picking the color of bride’s wedding gown as the color of centerpieces as this may spoil the wedding photographs. A peach bride may not look striking amongst peach flowers; so choose contrasting and bright colors for more lively photographs. From the rehearsal dinner to the reception… the New Millennium Centre has the food, service and atmosphere to WOW you and your guests. Call WOW Catering at 204-226-2018 www.wowhospitality.com Table centerpieces can be arranged in many ways and are a perfect way for the bride and groom to express themselves. Traditional flowers are always a classic choice but nowadays couples are experimenting with various looks created with decorative stones, chocolates, candies, cupcakes and fruits. No matter which design you go with, make sure it reflects your personality and makes your reception setting look dazzling and spectacular! Sousa Photography Make It Last Forever – Appelt’s Diamonds will guarantee that! Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Take, for instance, Heather Smith snagging her Tacori designer engagement ring on the car door. The mishap caused the ring’s ½ carat diamond to wiggle free and fall out. Sadly, Heather’s diamond was lost. A gut-wrenching experience, for sure. But what most shocked Heather was the decision by Appelt’s Diamonds to repair her ring and replace her $3,000 diamond free of charge. Yes, just about any jeweller will warranty your diamond engagement ring. But the industry standard is to charge extra for protection plans. Even then, most warranties are riddled with loopholes and cover only “normal” wear and tear. The Rock Solid Diamond Warranty from Appelt’s Diamonds is anything but standard. When you buy your diamond from Appelt’s, the company includes a full lifetime warranty at no extra charge. If you should ever chip, crack or lose your diamond - Appelt’s Diamonds will give you a free replacement - just as it did for Heather Smith. Appelt’s Diamonds owner, Jeff Appelt says, “All of my friends and family thought I had lost my mind. Even my own staff told me I was crazy to include our Rock Solid Diamond Warranty for free. It’s just so unusual. But my thoughts have never been more clear: Your diamond engagement ring should forever remain a symbol of the love you share.” Appelt tells of another customer who damaged her diamond while cage diving with great white sharks off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa. “It’s a story I don’t often tell,” Appelt says laughingly. “I worry people wouldn’t believe me if I did. The story sounds completely fabricated. But it really did happen, and we replaced the customer’s diamond free of charge.” And so now, when you buy your engagement ring from Appelt’s Diamonds, your ring and diamond is guaranteed to last forever - no matter if you find your ring chewed up by the neighbor’s pesky dog or even that temperamental garburator. But guaranteeing everlasting love? That, my friend, is solely up to you and the one you love. Beautiful Brides 2016 17 Pick appropriate wedding flowers for every season If you are getting married soon, you have a lot of big decisions to make, not the least of which are your wedding flowers. You want the flowers to be perfect but maybe you are not sure what blooms are in season or which to use to achieve the theme that you want for your special day. Here is a guide to some of the different flowers that would be great picks, depending on what time of year you are tying the knot. Spring If you are one of the lucky brides getting married in the spring, the bouquet options are limitless. Spring is representative of new beginnings, life, and rebirth, which happens to be a beautiful symbol for weddings as well. Some of the flowers that represent spring and new beginnings include irises, orchids, tulips, and lilacs, which are all beautiful flowers that would wow in any bouquet. A single orchid adorning the lapel of your groom and his groomsmen looks amazing without appearing too complicated. Spring has many different colors associated with it since flowers and plants are just beginning to come up after the winter thaws out. Some of the colors that you might consider choosing for spring wedding flowers include purple, yellow, mint, and other pastels. Summer Summer is a great time for weddings, as evidenced by the fact that June, July, and August are the 3 most popular months during which to get married. Summer weddings are typically lighter and fun, and what better way to reflect that kind of atmosphere at your own special day than through the flowers that you choose? Gerbera daisies, poppies, and zinnias are a few examples of fun summer flowers that feel and look carefree and light. Summer is a great time to incorporate bright, vibrant colors into your wedding such as aqua, purple, green, and yellow. Perhaps the best element to allow the bright colors of your big day to shine through are in your flowers. Autumn Fall weddings are some of the most gorgeous weddings because it is such a stunning time of year. For weddings during this crisp time of year, choose those flowers that are reminiscent of a harvest or have a more rustic appeal to them such as peonies, carnations, and/or dahlias. Some people choosing to get married in the fall take advantage of the beautiful changing leaves and incorporate gorgeous red, orange, and gold leaves into their bouquets. Autumn is not often considered a very colorful time of year, especially when compared to spring and summer. However, autumn weddings are beautiful even if they don’t use the traditional fall colors like brown, red, gold, and orange. Choose jewel tones such as deep blue, purple and mauve to create a beautiful fall bouquet. Winter Planning a winter wonderland wedding? White is a great color choice, but other elements that you can pull into your bouquet that actually look beautiful and make a statement include pinecones, holly, and pine boughs. During the holiday season, poinsettias abound everywhere you go. A bouquet of poinsettias pays homage to the winter holiday season, and especially when combined with other flowers as part of a bouquet, can be an excellent choice for your wedding bouquet. As a bonus, red is always a great color to choose for a winter wedding. Winter weddings are beautiful and decadent, and choosing rich colors such as deep, dark blues, reds, and browns can create a dramatic effect that gives your wedding a classy look. 18 Beautiful Brides 2016 Danny Dewar and Carrie Kielly Married February 26, 2015 Honeymoon: Christine - Ixtapa Travel Beautiful Brides 2016 19 Dmytro Yamchuk and Susan Shilshtut Married: September 6, 2015 Music & Entertainment: The Danny Kramer Event Band & Barry Kay - Cherry Tree Productions Procession Music: Barry Kay - Cherry Tree Productions Gown & Veil: 7th Avenue Fashions Rings: City Jewellers /-""(0/+)*%#)$/&&()") /$(,$/*$"%!&() ,$&(%,1%+)""2)(,%( ($*("%!)-* %+((&(-(($*0 **0-""()-")%*+( -((0%3'+)* -""(0 $%(%+)*#&) ($*0"" %( %(*""" **"$*( %( ---*0 -""() Thank you for your patronage in 2015. Sousa Photography 22 Beautiful Brides 2016 Veils or alternatives? A guide to wedding headwear Your wedding is a time for you to stand out from the crowd. You are going to be surrounded by family and friends, and you’ll want to make sure you look like you’ve always dreamed. Unlike times past, weddings are now hybrid affairs. People often marry between cultures, so there are many weddings that combine religious traditions. Dress is one of the areas where you see lots of variation according to tradition and personal taste. To Veil or Not to Veil? The veil has gone in and out of fashion over the past couple of centuries. The traditional long, flowing veil is often seen as stogy. It has connotations of a marriage tradition where men gave away a woman. For some modern women, veils are remnants of when marriage was much less of a choice and more of an obligation. But veils can also be frilly and fun, with none of the associations that come from the Middle Ages or even the Victorian Period. When deciding on whether or not you want to wear a veil, remember that it will have to coordinate with the hairstyle you choose. One reason brides sometimes forgo a veil is that it covers up the fantastic, ornate hairstyles that complete a bride’s look. Try on veils and brainstorm the hair styles that would work best well in advance of your big day. Hats and Retro Headwear The 20s and 40s have been making a comeback in many different aspects of the fashion industry. In both of these decades, different types of hats were all the rage. In the 20s, roundcloches were more common. These went over the back of the head and were often accented with bows or other types of decorations on the side. Some fabrics that these types of hats were made of are velvet and felt. In the 40s, hats with nets were also popular. Nets can be a nice visual substitute for veils. They go over part of the face and can include pearls or be made of lace. A small hat with netting will cover less of your head and face than a traditional diaphonous veil. There are many retailers that make new, retro-style hats, but you can also get old hats that are in good condition from vintage shops. If you want to get really inventive, you can create your own hat using materials that will coordinate perfectly with your wedding dress and shoes. Tiaras and Jeweled Head Coverings Some wedding accessories that are all the rage are tiaras or wedding crowns. These can be worn by themselves as part of your overall hairstyle, or they can be combined with a veil. Some hair dressers will weave the hair and tiara together to create a single masterpiece of style. There are simple and ornate. You can find one that will suit the level of decoration you want and can coordinate the material of the crown or tiara, frequently silver or gold, with the type of wedding band you will receive during the ceremony. Whether you prefer pearls, rubies, or crystals, many brides select a small tiara with accents or precious stones. You can shop around to find the perfect accessories for your big day that will set off your dress and dazzle everyone at your wedding.
