Janis Eaglesham is a west coast artist who enjoys a quiet
life on five wooded acres in Maple Ridge, BC. She expresses her love of nature through her landscapes, which
invoke a sense of solitude, purity, and regeneration. Her
acclaimed figurative work is rich, haunting, and nostalgic,
inspired by both her childhood on the prairies and a veneration of feminine beauty.
Janis studied Drawing and Design at the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), Fine Arts at Langara College
(Vancouver), and earned a diploma in Painting and Printmaking at Fraser Valley College (Abbotsford). She has also
attended numerous workshops with Michael Bingham,
Michael Albrechtson, Paul Chizik, Suzanne Northcott,
Ron Hedrick, Thomas Anfield, Carolyn Anderson, Mike
Svob, Brent Heighton, and Kevin Beilfuss.
She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and was presented with an award of excellence by
the Fraser Valley chapter in 2004. In 2014
she was awarded second place by the
FCA for “Reclining Nude” at The Reach
Gallery in Abbotsford and in 2015 an
award of excellence for “Cozy Nook” at
the Leigh Square in Port Coquitlam. She
is a founding member and secretary of
Stave Falls Artist Group.
