With multiple rotors and more than twenty blocks to choose from, the Savant Explorer SpeedVac concentrator supports sample formats ranging from tubes, vials and microplates to large-volume flasks. Rapid, Efficient Solvent Evaporation With the Savant Explorer SpeedVac concentrator, solvent removal is fast and efficient. The unit’s 5-liter, -55°C cold trap is positioned just inches from the chamber. In addition, an expanded vacuum port and short More than twenty blocks are available to support a wide variety of sample formats. vapor path allow rapid removal of vapors for improved drying and effective handling of difficult-toremove solvents like dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). The Savant Explorer SpeedVac concentrator further accelerates the evaporation rate by maintaining accurate chamber temperatures. This provides the added advantage of reducing vapor condensation in the sample chamber, which minimizes contamination and cleaning down time. Dual-format Cold Trap Another unique and time-saving feature is the dual-format cold trap. The two-position high-capacity H-rotor fits eight aluminum blocks of tubes up to 100 mm in height, providing a total capacity of up to: • (96) 20 ml scintillation vials or • (192) 16 x 100 mm tubes or (192) 1 dram vials or • (280) 13 x 100 mm tubes The direct-drain configuration ensures convenience and safety by allowing you to drain solvents directly into a waste container at the end of the run. The unit’s hot gas defrost feature and convenient side drain saves time so you can start the next run immediately. For certain acids such as HCl, the trap can be used with a glass flask inserted into the trap, allowing the solvent to collect and freeze directly in the flask. The flask can be removed for defrosting, and a clean flask can be inserted to begin another run. The two-position Gilson rack rotor fits two Gilson racks of tubes up to 100 mm in height. Advanced Controls Ensure High Sample Integrity When you are working with small amounts of fragile samples, overheating can be a serious concern. The Savant Explorer Speed Vac concentrator incorporates numerous features to eliminate this worry. Intellitemp Temperature Monitoring The Savant Explorer SpeedVac concentrator maintains accurate sample temperatures through its Intellitemp monitoring and control system. This system uses one rotor block probe and up to three sample probes to monitor run conditions. When used with the “Auto-Dry” function, the Intellitemp system automatically ends the run when a pre-set temperature is reached, thereby avoiding overheating. TM Anti-bumping design Pre-programmed vacuum ramps and pressure controls minimize sample bumping and cross-contamination with volatile solvents or mixtures. In addition, the rotor G-force is optimized to handle a wide variety of tubes and protect them against potentially harmful effects such as tube breakage. Two microplate samples: one evaporated with vacuum ramping (left), and one without. 3 39145_Thermo_A.qxd 3/21/07 7:51 PM Page 5 Advanced Software Streamlines Your Protocols The Savant Explorer SpeedVac concentrator incorporates advanced software that accelerates your productivity in the lab: • Create, edit and save programs on your PC or via the console • Store and recall pre-set programs for simple, rapid operation • Link up to five programs sequentially with Timed and Time Plus programs– ideal for mixed solvent applications Advanced Linking Software The Savant Explorer SpeedVac concentrator‘s advanced software allows you to link up to five individual programs and run them sequentially.
