Ringgenberg 240 Behind the Panels Creator Biographies 245 The Ups and Downs of EC Comics History by Ted White Al Williamson engaged a fluid group of talented sidemen to assist him in various ways over the years. For the art credits for this book, we have relied on Williamson’s own statements and the judgment of those familiar with his art and career. Note: “(s)” indicates instances where an assistant signed or initialed the story. Editor/writer Al Feldstein wrote more scripts for EC than anyone else, virtually all in collaboration with publisher William M. Gaines. Gaines’s creative involvement reflected the pride he took in his comics and was another way in which EC Comics distinguished itself. Almost daily, Gaines and Feldstein co-plotted a new story based on Gaines’s “springboards,” from which Feldstein produced a script. It was, by all accounts, a creatively symbiotic and satisfying partnership. Feldstein did not write every script and EC did not publish writer credits. EC’s master records no longer exist. Based on the best information available, we believe the creative credits above to be accurate. We welcome any corrections. 50 girls 50 113 50 girls 50 114 50 girls 50 115 50 girls 50 116 50 girls 50 117 50 girls 50 118 50 girls 50 119 i, rocket 120 i, rocket 121 i, rocket 122 i, rocket 123 i, rocket 124 i, rocket 125 i, rocket 126 t w o ’ s c o m p a n y. . . 127 t w o ’ s c o m p a n y. . . 128 t w o ’ s c o m p a n y. . . 129 t w o ’ s c o m p a n y. . . 130 t w o ’ s c o m p a n y. . . 131 t w o ’ s c o m p a n y. . . 132
