She went to the Undertaker’s T o buy him a coffin ; When she came back The dog was laughing. 5 6 MOTHER HUBBARD She took a clean dish, T o g et him some tripe ; When she came back H e was smoaking his pipe AND HER DOG. 7 She went to the Ale-house T o get him some beer When she came back T he dog sat in a chair. ; 8 MOTHER HUBBARD She went to the Tavern, For white wine and red ; When she came back The dog stood on his head. She went to the Fruiterer’s T o buy him some fru it; W hen she came back H e was playing the flute. 11 12 MOTHER HUBBARD She went to the Taylor’s, T o bu y him a c o a t; When she came back He was riding a goat. AND HER DOG. She went to the Cobler’s, T o buy him some shoes ; When she came back, He was reading the news. 13 14 MOTHER HUBBARD She went to the Sempster’s, T o buy him some linen ; When she came back The dog was spinning. AND HER DOG. She went to the Hosier's, T o buy him some hose ; When she came back He was drest in his clothes. 15 16 MOTHER HUBBARD & c. The dame made a courtsey, The dog made a bow ; T he dame said “ your servant, The dog said “ bow, wow.”
