NIBCA September 2016 News to Know!
Message from the E.O.
I hope you have enjoyed your summer and have had time to relax and
make memories with your families and loved ones! If not, it's not too late.
Let's make it our mission for the 3-day weekend ahead!
I want to take a moment and thank the 15 NIBCA member builders that
participated this year: Affordable Custom Builders, Architerra Homes,
Aspen Homes & Development, Axiom Homes, Bane Built Construction,
Blue Ribbon Builders, Glacier Homes, Greenstone, Hayden Homes,
Shelly Donovan

Ridge Homes. We wouldn't have a show without you and the NIBCA and
Coeur d'Alene community would truly miss out. Thank you for your hard work and I hope you
found it as beneficial to your company as NIBCA did!
The Show would also not happen if it wasn't for the Parade of Homes Committee and
volunteers. These associate members put in countless volunteer hours to make sure that all the
details were in place to ensure a successful show. It showed in the well attended 'Night of
Awards Hoedown' at the Hayden Lake Country Club and also throughout the 5 show days.
Please thank them and show your appreciation by choosing a member to do business
with.
I want to thank the 2016 NIBCA Parade of Homes Sponsors who invested in time and money

NIBCA 2016 Golf Tournament Scramble
The NIBCA Associate's Council is having its annual golf
tournament at the Avondale Golf Course next
Thursday, September 8th. Registration begins at 12:00
pm; shotgun start at 1:00 pm.
It's not too late to sign up! The cost is $100 per person,
$400 per team, and includes cart rental, greens fees,
meal, handicap pack, drink ticket, and more! There are
only 2 sponsorship opportunities left: Hole #5 & 17.
The most patriotic team and hole sponsor will win
prizes. Prizes will be given for the closet to the pin and
the longest drive.

held at the NIBCA October General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, October
19th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Best Western Plus, Coeur d'Alene Inn.
Fall Maintenance Tips
Plants are still blooming and temps are still well
above freezing, but don't be fooled - the seasons
will soon be changing. Before fall and winter are
officially upon us, now is the time to focus on some
simple home maintenance projects to prepare for
the chilly weather ahead. The best part is that
many of these projects can be done at little or no
cost, and they can help you save money on your
energy bills. More importantly, they help enhance and protect one of your biggest
investments: your home.

Registration for the IBCA Fall Boards is now taking place.
The meetings and events take place at Shore Lodge
starting October 12th to the 14th in McCall, Idaho.

The International Builders Show or IBS is the largest
light construction show in the world, attracting
more than 60,000 visitors from over 100 countries.
It takes place in Orlando, Florida starting on
January 10th to the 12th, 2017. New NIBCA members within the past 12 months can

If You're Not Lead-Safe Certified,
Lead Paint Could Cost You Big Time
Think lead paint doesn't affect your business? Think
again.
An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rule to
protect children from lead
exposure mandates that all renovation and repair
contractors working in pre-1978
homes, schools, and day care centers who disrupt
more than six square feet of
lead paint are required to become EPA Certified in lead-safe work practices.
Renovation contractors are required to take a one-day training course and firms
must send a short application to the EPA. If not, they could face thousands of
dollars in fines, and - even worst - be responsible for harming their customers.
Also, plan to attend the NIBCA Sept. Joint Government Issues Meeting on Tuesday,
September 20th from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at NIBCA as our guest speakers are Laurie
Fay and Jennifer Sulcer of the US Environmental Protection Agency. Click here to
