For Immediate Release Contact: Cari Shane cari@sasseagency.com 202.378.8047 NeurExpand Brain Center brings memory improvement to the Bethesda-‐Chevy Chase region Dr. Majid Fotuhi brings brain fitness research to the region to help residents fight off Alzheimer’s Bethesda, MD, August 12, 2014 – “The opening of NeurExpand, a first of its kind neurology practice in Chevy Chase, means an expansion for the company as well as an expansion of the Bethesda-‐Chevy Chase region’s brainpower,” said Ginanne Italiano, President of The Greater Bethesda-‐Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce, upon announcing the upcoming ribbon cutting event for the Columbia, Maryland-‐based company. NeurExpand, which operates two other offices in Baltimore and Columbia, provides a comprehensive medical program to strengthen the brain against cognitive decline and memory loss. “We are thrilled to welcome to the Chamber and to Montgomery County a company that can and will change lives,” said Italiano who has scheduled an August 12th ceremony that will be attended by some of the region’s most influential business and legislative leaders. Prior to opening its doors at 5550 Friendship Boulevard in June, NeurExpand became a member of The Greater Bethesda-‐Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce. “Being new to Montgomery County, our goal was to work closely with an organization that would provide a platform for networking with business heads in the Chevy Chase-‐Bethesda region,” said Christopher Lindsay COO and CCO of NeurExpand. “Bethesda-‐ Chevy Chase is an ideal location for our third facility. We have found that individuals with higher education levels and wealth are more likely to pro-‐actively address their memory concerns. While most aging adults worry about memory, not all act on these concerns.” In fact, with 5.5 million cases of Alzheimer’s in the United States, studies have shown that concerns about memory are on the top four-‐list for aging Americans along with dying, vision loss and losing money. st Led by Majid Fotuhi, M.D., Ph.D., the neurology practice is founded on the 21 century research that proves humans can regrow brain cells. Prior scientific evidence had held that humans begin losing brain cells at the average age of 25 and cannot regrow cells and/or regain memory. Fotuhi’s published research shows that after three months of a program that includes diet, physical and mental exercises, the Hippocampus (the thumb-‐sized part of our brain involved in the formation of new memories) will physically grow larger and stronger. NeurExpand does not claim to cure Alzheimer’s; rather, the centers offers treatment to improve brain performance for those suffering from mild cognitive impairment, age-‐ related memory loss and cognitive decline. Dr. Fotuhi’s clinical team develops a customized multifaceted treatment regimen, including components such as memory training, cognitive skills development, neuro-‐ feedback, and lifestyle modifications related to sleep, diet and fitness. “Despite the many advances in neuroscience over the past decade, treatments for memory loss and cognitive decline have been fragmented and minimally effective,” said Fotuhi, who penned the top selling book, Boost Your Brain: the New Art + Science Behind Enhanced Brain Performance with a foreward by the Cleveland Clinic’s preeminent, Dr. Michael Roizen. “Our Brain Fitness Program takes a multidisciplinary approach that looks at all the key reversible causes of memory loss and treats the patient based on their individual needs.” “The Chamber is impressed by the research and work conducted at NeurExpand,” said Italiano. “Their research has been supported and recognized by Dr. Roizen, one of our nation’s top wellness doctors as well as the country’s favorite doctor, Dr. Oz. We are lucky to have a facility of this kind open in our region. Even luckier to have the business as a member of the Chamber.” The Chamber’s ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the NeurExpand Friendship Height’s facility on 5550 Friendship Boulevard, Suite 450, Chevy Chase, Maryland on August 12 at 4 p.m. Along with members of the Chamber Board and federal, state and local officials, the doors of the medical facility will officially open to help our community’s members improve their memory today and reduce their risk of cognitive decline tomorrow. The media is invited to attend the ribbon-‐cutting event. Members of the media interested in a complimentary memory screening as well as an interview with Dr. Fotuhi should call (202) 378-‐8047.
