Concert to feature music from the Civil
War era
The Dillsburg Arts and Revitalization
Council will host a free concert on Sunday,
November 8 featuring the group Susquehanna
Travellers. The event will take place Harmony
Bethel Church, 3 Clear Spring Road, Dillsburg.
The concert will begin at 2 p.m.
Susquehanna Travellers, hailing from York,
PA, plays traditional American folk music with a
focus on the music of the American Civil War,
traditional Irish and Appalachian music as well
as original tunes. They have been performing
throughout the Mid-Atlantic States for more than
a decade, and in that time it has developed a
reputation for excellent musicianship and a
unique acoustic sound. The Travellers has had
the privilege of performing at some of our country’s most prestigious venues, including
Arlington House, the Robert E. Lee Memorial;
Wheatland, the estate of President James
Buchanan; Harpers Ferry, Antietam, and
Gettysburg National Military Parks; The National
Congressional Cemetery; and The National Civil
War Museum.
Northern York County Regional Police
to hold defensive driving class
The Northern York County Regional Police
Department will be sponsoring the National
Safety Council’s “Defensive Driving” program.
The program is open to those drivers who are
age 16 or older and possess a valid
Pennsylvania driver’s license. The program is
also open to drivers who are age 55 or older and
have attended prior “Coaching the Mature
Driver” programs.
The course will be held in one session on
Saturday, December 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Participants are required to bring a bagged
lunch with them. Deadline to register is
November 27.
The program will take place at the Northern
York County Regional Police Department located at 1445 East Canal Road, Dover. The class
is limited to 30 persons and is filled on a first
come/first served basis.
Requirements for successful completion
are: attendee must be age 16 or older and must
possess a valid PA driver’s license
Registration may be secured by calling the
Northern York County Regional Police department at 292-3647 or by filling out a registration
form at the station during normal business hours

Last dinner of the year at Lisburn
Community Fire Company
On Sunday, November 8, the Lisburn
Community Fire Company at 1800 Main Street,
Lisburn will hold their final dinner for 2015.
They will be serving their well-known turkey dinner to enable them to continue to support and
serve the residents of Lisburn, Lower Allen,
Upper Allen, Monaghan and Fairview
Townships. They serve from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
or until sold out. In addition to turkey, they will
be serving mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy,

The Veterans Memorial in Silver Spring
will hold its fifth annual
Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday,
November 8 starting at 1 p.m. in Willow Mill
Park. The public is invited to remember those
who served our country, tour this unique memorial before or after the ceremony, and participate
in a community blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3
p.m. The ceremony will last about 45 minutes
and honor all veterans and currently serving military members, and will include two brief inspirational speeches by local student winners on the
theme of "Why is an unknown soldier such a
powerful symbol for a country?" We will also pay
homage to veterans by dedicating inscribed
bricks and plaques.

Craft show to be held in Hanover
A Christmas Craft Show will be held at the
Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson

40,000 Pounds of Potatoes to “Drop” in
Lemoyne
The Grace United Methodist Church, in
Lemoyne, 309 Herman Avenue, is preparing for
its fourth Potato Drop to take place on Saturday,
November 7. Hunger ministry organizations that
would like to receive a portion of the 40,000
pounds of potatoes should contact the church

Youth Choral festival set for November
The critically acclaimed Susquehanna
Chorale and three of its educational choirs will
present a concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday,
November 22, at the High Center, Messiah
College, in Mechanicsburg.
The Susquehanna Children’s, Youth, and
Young Women’s Chorales will each perform
several pieces, as will the adults of the
Susquehanna Chorale. The Children’s Chorale,
directed by Judith Shepler, is composed of students from the fourth through the eighth grade.
The Youth Chorale, directed by George Diehl, is
composed of students from the ninth grade
through the freshman year of college, and the
Young Women’s Chorale, directed by Elizabeth
Lins-Shoenfelt, and includes women from the
same age group. The individual performances
will be followed by the now-traditional finale for
this annual event, Mack Wilberg’s Anthem of
Peace sung by the massed choirs under the
direction of Linda Tedford, Founder and Artistic
Director of the Susquehanna Chorale.

Prayer Labyrinth to open in Rossville
The Prayer Labyrinth will be dedicated on
Sunday, November 22 at 10:15 a.m. at St.
Michael’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3335
Rosstown Road, Rossville, immediately following the 9 a.m. worship service. The labyrinth is
open to the public and a church member will be
available at the labyrinth on the day of dedication for guidance and prayer if walkers desire
assistance.
The congregation created the labyrinth to
provide an outdoor quiet space for prayer. St.
Michael’s Labyrinth is set in the woods, north of
the church’s parking lot, with the circuits marked
by stones and a mulch path. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Seekers begin at
the entrance and walk the path being sure not to
step over any stones in order to reach the center.

presents “Anatomy of Gray”
The Messiah College Department of
Theatre and Dance presents Jim Leonard’s
“The Anatomy of Gray” at 8 p.m. Nov. 12 to14
and Nov. 19 to 21, as well as 3 p.m. Nov. 15 and
22. General admission tickets cost $10; student
and senior tickets are $7. To purchase a ticket,

Theatre Daniel Inouye, will be staged in Miller

Adult & Child Baking Class coming to
EBACC
A New Baking Class will be held this year
at the East Berlin Area Community Center located at 405 North Avenue in East Berlin, on
Saturday, November 21 at 2 p.m. “C” is for
Cookie, Adult and Child Baking Class will be a
memory making day of bonding while baking
holiday cookies. Students will prepare and bake
several popular holiday cookie recipes. Take
home recipes and lots of extra tips will be offered
to make your cookie experience even more
enjoyable. The course costs $50 for parent and
child with $25 for each additional child. All ages

Healthy Holiday Makeovers Adult
Cooking Class at EBACC
A new adult demonstration cooking class is
being offered at the East Berlin Area Community
Center located at 405 North Avenue in East
Berlin on Sunday, November 22 from 2 p.m. until
4 p.m. Learn makeovers that offers healthy
updates to classic holiday dishes. Learn how to
get high impact flavors using fresh herbs, spices
and seasonal vegetables and minimize the need
for gobs of butter, cream and salt. This demonstration will show how to improve the nutritional
content of your recipes along with tempting your
taste buds. This class will be a cooking demonstration with some hands on and a generous
tasting of each recipe. Cost is $35 per person
and is limited to adults over the age of 18. For

Indoor Yard Sale at EBACC
The East Berlin Area Community Center is
having a huge indoor thrift shop yard sale
November 12 to 14 at the EBACC facility located at 405 North Avenue, East Berlin. On
Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., grab and fill a bag
for $10 each. On Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.,
fill a bag for just $5. On Saturday 8 a.m. to noon,
grab lots of bags and fill them all for just $3 each.
There’s a huge variety of merchandise to do
some early Christmas shopping. Free parking
and admission, food and drinks will be available.
Proceeds benefit our community center. Good,
usable donations and volunteers are always
welcome.
The Christmas Shoppe will open on
November 30 through December 16. The
Christmas Shoppe and Thrift Shoppe will be

Women’s Circle taking pot pie and
apple dumpling orders now
The Women’s Circle of the Lewisberry UM
Church, 309 Market Street, Lewisberry, is taking
orders until November 14 for fresh chicken or
beef pot pies and apple dumplings made by
Zook’s of Lancaster. Pick-up is at the church
