Community Calendar of Events Calendar of Events Concert to feature music from the Civil War era The Dillsburg Arts and Revitalization Council will host a free concert on Sunday, November 8 featuring the group Susquehanna Travellers. The event will take place Harmony Bethel Church, 3 Clear Spring Road, Dillsburg. The concert will begin at 2 p.m. Susquehanna Travellers, hailing from York, PA, plays traditional American folk music with a focus on the music of the American Civil War, traditional Irish and Appalachian music as well as original tunes. They have been performing throughout the Mid-Atlantic States for more than a decade, and in that time it has developed a reputation for excellent musicianship and a unique acoustic sound. The Travellers has had the privilege of performing at some of our country’s most prestigious venues, including Arlington House, the Robert E. Northern York County Regional Police to hold defensive driving class The Northern York County Regional Police Department will be sponsoring the National Safety Council’s “Defensive Driving” program. Adult & Child Baking Class coming to EBACC A New Baking Class will be held this year at the East Berlin Area Community Center located at 405 North Avenue in East Berlin, on Saturday, November 21 at 2 p.m. “C” is for Cookie, Adult and Child Baking Class will be a memory making day of bonding while baking holiday cookies. Students will prepare and bake several popular holiday cookie recipes. Take home recipes and lots of extra tips will be offered to make your cookie experience even more enjoyable. The course costs $50 for parent and child with $25 for each additional child. All ages welcome. Please bring step-stool for smaller children. Healthy Holiday Makeovers Adult Cooking Class at EBACC A new adult demonstration cooking class is being offered at the East Berlin Area Community Center located at 405 North Avenue in East Berlin on Sunday, November 22 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Learn makeovers that offers healthy updates to classic holiday dishes. Learn how to get high impact flavors using fresh herbs, spices and seasonal vegetables and minimize the need for gobs of butter, cream and salt. This demonstration will show how to improve the nutritional content of your recipes along with tempting your taste buds. This class will be a cooking demonstration with some hands on and a generous tasting of each recipe. Cost is $35 per person and is limited to adults over the age of 18. Indoor Yard Sale at EBACC The East Berlin Area Community Center is having a huge indoor thrift shop yard sale November 12 to 14 at the EBACC facility located at 405 North Avenue, East Berlin. On Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., grab and fill a bag for $10 each. On Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., fill a bag for just $5. On Saturday 8 a.m. to noon, grab lots of bags and fill them all for just $3 each. There’s a huge variety of merchandise to do some early Christmas shopping. Free parking and admission, food and drinks will be available. Proceeds benefit our community center. Good, usable donations and volunteers are always welcome. The Christmas Shoppe will open on November 30 through December 16. The Christmas Shoppe and Thrift Shoppe will be open the same hours.
