COYOTE CREEK RANCH
Guadalupita, NM
Location
The Coyote Creek Ranch is located in Mora county along the eastern slopes of the beautiful Sangre de
Cristo range. Approximately 14 miles north of the village of Mora and 23 miles south of Angel Fire, the
property is situated in the pristine Lucero Valley, one of the quietest and most undeveloped river valleys
in all of Mora county. While the property offers total privacy and solitude, New Mexico’s premier tourist, art and recreation centers are within very easy reach: under two hours to Santa Fe, a little over an
hour to Taos, under an hour to historic Las Vegas, and still less to the ski resort of Angel Fire.
Terrain
The Coyote Creek Ranch has the unique and invaluable
asset of consisting almost entirely of ‘usable,’ traversable acreage: since the headquarters are in the creek
valley and since the great majority of the ‘back country’
is on the Le Febres Mesa, virtually the entire ranch is
gentle and accessible. Finding its equal in this would be
a near impossibility in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains,
where the more typical ranch property includes high
percentages of steep slope and so seldom-utilized terrain.
While the vast Le Febres Mesa is generally difficult to
access and so remains almost completely undeveloped
and wild, the access road to it on the Coyote Creek
Ranch is almost certainly one of the best in Mora
county: one can be up on the Mesa in little more than
five minutes from the house.
The upper elevations of the Mesa top offer hidden playa
lakes, rugged canyons, and a combination of alpine
meadows and trees. The predominating tree cover is Ponderosa pine and Gambrel oak, though Pinon, fir, spruce
and aspen groves have scattered populations as well.
In the lower elevations of the creek valley where the house and other improvements are located, the beautiful and
pristine Coyote Creek flows from north to south, meandering through irrigated hay meadows, cottonwoods, and
willows, attracting all manner of wildlife and bringing a sense of lushness to the environs that only live water can.
From nearly the entirety of this bottomland, the sight of the majestic rimrock of the Mesa highlights the western
appeal of this ranch.
The variety of terrain makes this property truly a recreational paradise. Elevations range from 7300 +/- feet along
the creek bottom to approximately 7900 +/- feet on the eastern end of the Mesa.

Views
There are unencumbered views up and down the
valley from nearly all of the bottomland area.
From the clifftops of the Mesa the commanding
scene of the valley below is sweeping and utterly
spectacular.
There are a multitude of other
views from various areas on the Mesa looking
out over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the
west, Hermits Peak to the south, and east to the
beginning of the plains.
Water
There is approximately 1/2 mile of the Coyote Creek that
flows through the property.
The hay meadow is irrigated from the Los Cocas Acequia
by an underground pipeline with eleven valves for further
water distribution.
The improvements are served by a domestic well located
near the house.

• Propane
• Mora/San Miquel Electric Co-operative
