Beaded Fingerless Gloves Skill Level: Intermediate Sizes: S (M, L) Materials: 200 yards of sock weight yarn Size 1 DPNs or circular needle with 32” or longer cord approximately 70 (80, 90) size 6/0 beads Size 12mm or 14mm crochet hook Scissors Tapestry needle Gauge: 10 sts = 1” in cable pattern Pattern Notes: Cable Pattern is worked over 5 stitches in a K3, P2 repeat. The first 3 stitches, which form the “cable” are the K3. The pattern is worked so that beads are placed on the top of the glove and around the wrist, but not under the palm of the hand. When beads are placed, they go on the first stitch of the Cable Pattern, the slip stitch. Cable Pattern: Round 1: Sl1, K2, PSSO, P2. Repeat to end of round. Round 2: K1, YO, K1, P2. Repeat to end of round. Rows 3 - 6: K3, P2 Beaded Cable Pattern: Round 1: Place Bead on first stitch and slip to left needle, K2, PSSO, P2. Repeat to end of round. Round 2: K1, YO, K1, P2. Repeat to end of round. Rounds 3 - 6: K3, P2 INSTRUCTIONS: LEFT GLOVE Cast on 50 (55, 60) stitches. Join in round being careful not to twist. Mark beginning of round. Wrist: Work Cable Pattern 3 times placing beads on each slip stitch. Lower Hand: Work Cable Pattern 5 times placing beads on cables 3- 9. Make place for thumb: Using a piece of waste yarn, work next 10 stitches. Slip these stitches back to the left hand needle and work them again using working yarn. Continue with hand of glove. Upper Hand: Work Cable Pattern 5 times placing beads on cables 3 -9 Bind off in K3, P2 pattern ending with round 6. Work Thumb Beaded Fingerless Gloves RIGHT GLOVE Cast on 50 (55, 60) stitches. Join in round being careful not to twist. Mark beginning of round. Wrist: Work Cable Pattern 3 times placing beads on each slip stitch. Lower Hand: Work Cable Pattern 5 times placing beads on cables 6- 12. Make place for thumb: Using a piece of waste yarn, work next 10 stitches. Slip these stitches back to the left hand needle and work them again using working yarn. Continue with hand of glove. Upper Hand: Work Cable Pattern 5 times placing beads on cables 6 -12 Bind off in K3, P2 pattern ending with round 6. Work Thumb. Placing Beads Place a bead on end of crochet hook. Use crochet hook to lift stitch from right needle onto the hook. Pull the stitch through the bead. Place stitch on left needle. Working Thumb: Carefully remove waste yarn and pick up live stitches placing upper stitches on one needle and lower stitches on a second needle. Connect working yarn and work stitches in pattern, picking up 3 additional stitches from the sides of the gap on the top of the hand, and 2 stitches on from the side of the gap on the thumb side of the hand (use placement of beads to recognize top and palm of hand. Beads are on top). Work in Cable Pattern for 2 repeats. Bind off loosely. Leave a 12 inch tail to darn any gaps left between thumb and body of the glove. Finishing: Weave in ends.
