LETTERFROMTHEFOUNDER Get More Girls on Bikes
www.littlebellas.com LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER Get More Girls on Bikes Growing up as competitive cyclists, the gender disparity on the start line was always troubling, and when Lea and I started Little Bellas seven years ago, we were determined to grow cycling as both a sport and lifestyle for young women. We personally understood the importance cycling played in our lives. It stemmed beyond the competition, and largely provided us with confidence and leadership in our lives as a whole. In eight years of operation, we have reached more than 2,000 girls and we continue to aspire to create a nationwide girls’ cycling program that allows participation opportunities regardless of economic status. Cycling has also taught us that momentum is best achieved with two wheels, so partnerships outlined in the following pages are crucial to the movement we are creating. Let this serve as a conversation starter. We look forward to talking with you more about how we build a sponsorship agreement tailored to your interests and needs. We’re excited to begin a fun discussion that will hopefully lead to a long, strong and mutually beneficial partnership. Let’s together get more girls on bikes, Sabra Davison, Executive Director 01 B R I E F H I S T O R Y BRIEF HISTORY Though their childhood centered around downhill skiing and cross country running, Lea and Sabra Davison, as young adults, found themselves focusing more seriously on cycling. Lea and Sabra both attended the UCI Junior World Championships and competed in numerous World Cup events as well as the NORBA events across the United States. They attended Middlebury College where they teamed up with Angela Irvine to start the Little Bellas program. Angela, a prominent member of the local cycling community and advocate of women’s cycling, shared a similar objective of expanding the sport to the younger generation. As co-founders, they developed a program structure and recruited mentors to run twelve Sunday sessions in Vermont throughout the summer of 2007. During its first season, the program had more mentors than girls, but more than doubled by 2008 when over 40 girls ages 7-12 enrolled in the program. As Little Bellas has continued to expand to week long camps and establish chapters across the country, Angela and the Davison sisters have worked to build a program that encourages young girls to embrace cycling and fosters empowerment through sport. At camps and during weekly sessions, girls can expect to participate in a wide variety of games aimed at encouraging skill development, both on and off the bike. Little Bellas provides a supportive environment where young girls can be comfortable with themselves and overcome challenges both individually and as a collective group. While maintaining their focus on developing the Little Bellas program, the Davison sisters have continued to participate at an elite level. Lea, a nine time national champion and 2012 Olympian, currently races for the Specialized Factory team, a long time corporate sponsor of the program. As the Executive Director of Little Bellas, Sabra spends her summers facilitating all national programs, but still finds time to compete at the professional level in Cross Country Skiing. MISSION, GOALS, AND VALUES MISSION Little Bellas is a mountain bike organization whose goal is to help young women realize their potential through cycling. We aim to create a community that will empower girls through the sport, emphasize the importance of goal-setting, promote healthy life styles and recognize the positive effects of strong female bonds. While this program is centered around creating camaraderie for girls on bikes, it is most importantly about having fun in a constructive environment. MISSION, GOALS, AND VALUES GOAL We aspire to create a nationwide girls’ cycling program that allows participation opportunities regardless of economic status. VALUES We value strong female role models and promoting women and girls through our work. We value the environment and being good stewards of our trails and our planet. We value exercise and being healthy. We value creating a positive experience for all the girls enrolled in Little Bellas. We aspire to create a nationwide girls’ cycling program that allows participation opportunities regardless of economic status. “I THINK IT’S GOOD CHARACTER-BUILDING; YOU GET TO LEARN HOW TO WORK WITH OTHER PEOPLE. IT’S ALSO JUST REALLY FUN. YOU GET TO BIKE THROUGH THE WOODS AND LEARN COOL TRICKS. YOU’LL NEVER IN YOUR LIFE SEE A CLEAN LITTLE BELLAS JERSEY!” NORA, A 12-YEAR-OLD MEMBER OF THE VERMONT LITTLE BELLAS. 02 T H E P R O G R A M S THE PROGRAM Little Bellas brings together girls ages 7 to 16 with female mentors by using mountain biking as a vehicle to teach the importance of teamwork, goal-setting, and fostering a healthy lifestyle. In weekly summer sessions or multi-day camps, mentors and girls ride together at local trail networks, focusing on improving skills as well as participating in team-building activities. The program is organized around a curriculum that builds upon previous skills, and girls are broken up into groups based on age and ability. After the group ride, the groups participate in games that incorporate that day’s skill focus. Each session or camp includes the ever important snack. We are introducing new programs in Woodbury MN, Philadelphia PA, Marin County CA, Berkshires MA, Craftsbury VT, Park City UT, Rutland VT and Fountain Hills AZ. Getting more girls on bikes with expanded offerings, we plan to serve more than 550 Little Bellas and their families and 150 mentors and 30 junior mentors in 2016. 03 S P O N S O R S H I P L E V E L S TITLE SPONSORSHIP Title Sponsor...................................$25,000 Exclusive Benefits: • Branded event at all event camps • Option for venue visit during any event camp • Partnership at title sponsorship events • Professional athlete involvement in the program • Prominent logo placement on waterbottle Additional Benefits: •Prominent sponsor recognition at ALL event camps, weeklong camps, and weekly sessions •Family/Business connections at regional programs •Gift cards/discount codes distribution for all events (provided by sponsor) •Option for special promotion to Little Bella families •Product placement in goodie bags •Access to photos and videos when permitted •Brand recognition in all pre and post camp emails •Logo on Little Bella landing page and sponsor page •Blog feature •Prominent, frequent, and most visible social media recognition •Prominent logo placement on all printed materials •Prominent logo placement on program jersey •Incorporation media coverage and press releases when possible •Inclusion in Annual Report LEAD SPONSORSHIP Lead Sponsor...................................$10,000 Benefits: •Prominent sponsor recognition at ALL event camps, weeklong camps, and weekly sessions •Family/Business connections at regional programs •Gift cards/discount codes distribution for all events (provided by sponsor) •Option for special promotion to Little Bella families •Product placement in goodie bags •Access to photos and videos when permitted •Brand recognition in all pre and post camp emails •Logo on Little Bella landing page and sponsor page •Blog feature •Prominent, frequent, and visible social media recognition •Prominent logo placement on all printed materials •Prominent logo placement on program jersey •Incorporation media coverage and press releases when possible •Inclusion in Annual Report SUPPORTING SPONSORSHIP Supporting Sponsor...................................$5,000 Benefits: •Prominent sponsor recognition at ALL event camps, weeklong camps, and weekly sessions •Gift cards/discount codes distribution for all events (provided by sponsor) •Option for special promotion to Little Bella families •Product placement in goodie bags •Access to photos when permitted •Brand recognition in all pre and post camp emails •Logo on Little Bella landing page and sponsor page •Blog feature •Prominent, frequent, and visible social media recognition •Prominent logo placement on all printed materials •Prominent logo placement on program jersey •Incorporation media coverage and press releases when possible •Inclusion in Annual Report REGIONAL SPONSORSHIP Regional Sponsor...................................$2,500 Benefits: •Prominent sponsor recognition at REGIONAL event camps, weeklong camps, and weekly sessions •Product placement in goodie bags •Access to photos when permitted •Recognition on webpage acknowledging sponsors •On occasion social media recognition •Inclusion in Annual Report INDIVIDUAL CAMP SPONSORSHIP Individual Camp Sponsor...................................$1,000 Benefits: •Prominent sponsor recognition at ONE event camps, weeklong camps, and weekly sessions •Product placement in goodie bags •Recognition on program specific webpage •Infrequent social media recognition •Inclusion in Annual Report EXCLUSIVE SHOP SPONSORSHIP Exclusive Shop Sponsor...................................$1,000 Benefits: •Prominent sponsor recognition at CITY SPECIFIC event camps, weeklong camps, and weekly sessions •Gift cards/discount code distribution for all CITY SPECIFIC events •Promotion as Official Local Bike Shop of Little Bellas •Bike Shop involvement in programming •Product placement in goodie bags •Recognition on program specific webpage •Infrequent social media recognition •Inclusion in Annual Report Have you heard of them?
