ZION PARK DISTRICT
Zion Park District was founded in 1946. The Illinois Legislature has
given Zion Park District the particular responsibility of providing and
maintaining open space, and or offering recreational facilities and programs for your enjoyment and use. Approximately eight percent of your
tax bill represents the park district portion.
OUR PURPOSE
Whether it’s by offering wholesome programs, activities and special
events, by providing enjoyable facilities or by preserving the aesthetic
beauty of our community, the sole purpose of Zion Park District is the
enrichment of lives.
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Your Park District Board consists of five elected commissioners. Each
commissioner is elected for a six year term. Once every two years, you
choose the person to represent you on the Park Board. The next election
will be held in April, 2015. Board meetings are held at the Zion Park District
Leisure Center on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm.

Splash your way into shape with an invigorating low-impact aquatic
exercise. Known as the Zumba® “pool party,” the Aqua Zumba program
gives new meaning to the idea of a refreshing workout. Integrating the
Zumba philosophy with traditional aquatic fitness disciplines, Aqua
Zumba® blends it all together into workout that’s cardio-conditioning,
body-toning, and most of all, exhilarating beyond belief. One of the things
that makes Aqua Zumba super appealing is the fact that no one can see
your dance moves. You’re busting out body toning moves but people
can only see your head, neck and shoulders! Bring a water bottle to this

LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM
The American Red Cross has structured the Learn to Swim program to enable
your child to obtain a smoother progression throughout the levels. Learn-to-Swim
teaches aquatic and safety skills in a logical progression. The objective is to teach
people to swim and to be safe in, on and around the water.
Skills are categorized in the following way:
• Water Entry and Exit
• Breath Control and Underwater Swimming
• Buoyancy
• Changing Direction and Position
• Treading
• Swimming on Front, Back and Side
• General and Personal Water Safety
• Helping Others
Policies of Zion Park District Swimming Lesson Programs:
Please read and understand.
1. Double lessons and make up lessons have been eliminated. If your child
misses a class due to illness, vacation, etc., your child will not receive a makeup lesson. Our sessions do include 2 rain dates, in case we cancel lessons
due to weather conditions or mechanical difficulties.
*Shared Rental means that you agree to have 1-2 other groups at the same time
as your rental. This gives some flexibility on price for smaller groups. Shared
Rental dates are restricted so register early to get a spot.
2. Register your child early to reserve a spot in class. We strive to keep a 1 to
8 ratio in our classes and when you register early, this enables us to plan
accordingly, and in turn serve you better. Before test day, talk with your child’s
swimming instructor and find out the progress your child has made.
BIRTHDAY PARTY PACKAGES
3. Our swimming instructors enjoy teaching children, but all of us have different
teaching styles. Please keep this in mind when observing lessons.
A birthday party at Port Shiloh Pool will be a party your child will never forget!
Party includes:
• Daily admission for up to 10 people (1-6 pm swim)
• 1 to 1½ hours in a reserved party area to eat and open presents
• Meal including pizza and small soda
• Tons of waterpark fun and entertainment
Fees: Resident $80
Non-Resident $100 (10 people)
Extra guests: Resident $7 per person Non-Resident $10 per person
Call 847-746-5500 to reserve your party now!
4. There will be parents’ meetings to inform you on policies and procedures
for swimming lessons. The dates for these meetings will be announced at
registration.
5. If an earlier class is cancelled due to weather, all following classes will be
cancelled to keep consistency, even if weather clears up.
6. If the weather looks threatening, please call 847-746-5500 after 8:00 am or
check Facebook to confirm if lessons will be held.

as likely to hear music from Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Paul
Simon, Dick Dale, Jerry Jeff Walker, and many others. They
offer variety and entertainment for everyone who enjoys warm
weather.
Chicago’s favorite swing, jazz, Frank Sinatra and jumpblues band. With heart-stopping authenticity, they re-create
reminiscence. The bold and brassy sound of the 1930’s, the
Lindy Hop dancing, foot-tapping jump-blues of the 1940’s and
the cool jazz of the 1950’s come to life.

NON-RESIDENT INFORMATION
OUR FRIENDLY OFFICE STAFF
Non-residents are welcome to participate in Zion Park District programs and
activities. Many of these programs require that a non-resident pay an additional
out-of-district fee. The non-resident fee options are listed below.
1. Single program fee – This is an additional fee paid per program. The amount
varies with each program. Check individual program listings.
2. Pass fee – This is an additional fee paid when a season pass is purchased.
The amount varies according to the type of pass purchased. These fees are
listed next to the pass prices.
3. League Fee - $15.00 – This is an additional fee paid per sport. For example:
A non-resident summer softball player would pay $15.00 at the beginning of
the season. This would cover her for all summer softball programs. Another
fee would have to be paid for another type of sport, or the same sport in a
different season (i.e. volleyball, fall softball). This fee is not refundable.

Often times a question arises as to who is a resident of the Park District. A
resident must live within the boundaries of Zion Park District. It’s sometimes
easy to confuse residency with a Zion mailing address. Many people in the area
surrounding Zion have a five-digit Zion mailing address. These five-digit addresses
are located in the county and are not within the boundaries of Zion Park District. A
tax bill, voter registration card, or vehicle sticker receipt will help to establish your
residency. The park district staff will be glad to answer any questions you may
have regarding these fees.

ZION PARK DISTRICT WAIVER & RELEASE
The Zion Park District is committed to conducting its recreation programs and activities in a safe manner and holds the safety of participants in high regard. The Zion Park District continually

minors registering for the below listed programs/activities must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational activities/programs.
You are solely responsible for determining if you or your minor child/ward are physically fit and or skilled for the activities contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable, especially if

medical advice, conditioning and equipment, there is still a risk of serious injury when participating in any recreational activity/program. Understandably, not all hazards and dangers can be
foreseen. Depending on the particular activity, participants must understand that certain risks, dangers and injuries due to inclement weather, slipping, falling, poor skill level or conditioning,
carelessness, horseplay, unsportsmanlike conduct, premises defects, inadequate or defective equipment, inadequate supervision, instruction or officiating, and all other circumstances inherent to
indoor and outdoor recreational activities/programs exist. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the Zion Park District to guarantee absolute safety.
WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Please read this form carefully and be aware that in signing up and participating in the below identified programs/activities, you will be expressly assuming the risk and legal liability and waiving
and releasing all claims for injuries, damages or loss which you or your minor child/ward might sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with and associated with said

without consideration of any kind.
