Mina Al-Ahmadi GasPort® Kuwait Bringing Continents of Energy Together Market Access Mina Al-Ahmadi GasPort Kuwait B r i n g i n g C o n t i n e n t s o f E n e r g y To g e t h e r kuwait The Mina Al-Ahmadi GasPort (MAAGP), located approximately 40 kilometers south of Kuwait City, will be Kuwait’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal. Intended as an interim solution to bridge the gap between Kuwait’s current natural gas needs and the future development of domestic gas reserves, the MAAGP will deliver much needed natural gas to meet industrial and commercial demands. Of the many compelling features of the MAAGP, the short time span between inception and in-service coupled with the relatively low capital investment were the primary motivating factors behind the final investment decision. Using Excelerate Energy’s GasPort technology, an Energy Bridge Regasification Vessel (EBRV™) will be stationed at the existing Mina Al-Ahmadi South Jetty facility and will deliver regasified LNG at a baseload rate of up to 500 million cubic feet per day (mmcf/d). In addition, the MAAGP will incorporate an innovative shuttle tanker berth that will provide for ship-toship LNG transfer and boil off gas management capabilities between a conventional LNG carrier and the EBRV™. This will allow Excelerate Energy to keep the EBRV™ on station while receiving cargo deliveries of LNG from conventional carriers dockside, resulting in a flexible terminal that can provide seasonal baseload service to Kuwait. Construction of the facility commenced in January of 2008 and Excelerate Energy anticipates being in service by the summer of 2009. The capital cost for the project, even with extensive refurbishments and enhancements planned for the existing jetty facilities, is anticipated to be significantly less than that of a land based facility of similar capacity. With the added benefit of seasonal flexibility and the resultant cost savings, Excelerate Energy’s partnership with Kuwait Petroleum Company on this project is a natural fit. Key Information ++ Kuwait’s first LNG receiving facility ++ GasPort dockside configuration ++ Base load throughput capacity 500 mmcf/d with peak capacity of 600 mmcf/d ++ Seasonal facility planned for operations in April through October ++ Direct access to processing facilities and other industrial consumers ++ Direct access to the Kuwait gas grid Market Access Excelerate Energy, L.L.C., based in The Woodlands, Texas, is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) importer and marketer that’s redefining the way LNG moves around the globe.
