Training & Assessment Services
Developed with the American Driver and Traffic
Safety Education Association, this program provides
up to 20 hours of simulated driving. Each of the 12
lessons contain an introduction, practice, and evaluation of a targeted driving skill. During each drive,
verbal remediation is provided to correct negative
driving skill execution.
Developed with the American Driver and Traffic
Safety Education Association, this curriculum
concentrates on the drivers’ ability to follow
direction and perform within their particular skill
level. Remediation is non-verbal and at the end of
each lesson, the driver and facilitator are given the
results of the drive.
Developed for a leading pharmaceutical company,
this program is a quick strike course for those needing a reintegration to stateside driving program.
Developed in partnership with the National Safety
Council, this program contains the same courseware
as NSC’s DDC 6/8 hour course but in an engaging
and interactive environment that only simulation
can provide.
Developed with leading researchers at the Boston
VA Healthcare Center, this program focuses on the
assessment and treatment for individuals with a
sustained or suspected Traumatic Brain Injury.
** All of our programs have the ability to simulate various driving environments to
include: day, dusk, night, clear weather, rain, fog, and snow.

Why
According to a recent RAND study*, nearly 20 percent of military service
members who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, report symptoms
of post traumatic stress disorder or major depression, yet only slightly more
than half have sought treatment. In addition, researchers found about 19
percent of returning service members report that they experienced a possible traumatic brain injury while deployed, with 7 percent reporting both a
probable brain injury and current PTSD or major depression.
Researchers estimate that PTSD and depression among returning service members will cost the nation as much as $6.2
billion in the two years following deployment; an amount that includes both direct medical care and costs for lost productivity
and suicide. Investing in more high-quality treatment could save close to $2 billion within two years by substantially reducing
those indirect costs.
Virtual Rx® can preform pre-combat cognitive screening to evaluate service members’ readiness for duty and identify any
areas that may need improvement or accommodation. Through the use of Virtual Rx® systems, service members can be
exposed and trained to become more resilient, both in body and mind.
Raydon has put well over 20 years of experience in the virtual reality training solutions for our service members. Our Virtual
reality systems provide effective tools for cognitive assessment, resiliency training, exposure therapy, reintegration, and
rehabilitation that is safe, efficient, and affordable.
Raydon’s goal It is not just to bring the soldier home, but to bring them all the way home.

M2 .50 CAL machine gun with simulated recoil. HMD
provides 360 degree views and the turret provides
unrestricted rotation of the traverse ring.
• Instructor Operator Station: Where clinicians can
control and add to the scenarios while assessing
and evaluating. They can communicate through the
simulated radios and act as other units or a higher
headquarters.
• Content: The library consists of combat content
scenarios, providing a range of exercises in various
databases. This variety of situations and environments
allow for the application if inoculation therapy, expo

Developed with the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association, this program adheres to ADTSEA standards
for in-car performance and concentrates on the drivers ability to follow direction and perform within their particular skill
level. The 12 lessons include an introduction, practice and evaluation session where the driver is evaluated on performing the targeted driving skills.
Lessons capability:
• Getting ready to drive
• Developing visual processes
• Developing searching skills
• Searching for signs, signals,
markings
• Evaluating to minimize risk
• Executing effective speed and
position adjustments
• Managing intersections
• Managing turns at intersections
• Managing curves and hills
• Managing time and space intervals
• Responding to vehicle failures
• Assessing driver performance and
awareness

Tune Up consists of 5 interactive driving scenarios:
• Introduction to safe driving
• Adverse driving conditions
• Collision avoidance
• Hazard recognition
• Safe following distance
• Driving environments include day, dusk, night, rain, fog and snow.

Virtual Defensive Driving CourseTM (VDDCTM) was developed in partnership with the National Safety Council (NSC) and
is designed to be easily operated. VDDC provides the same course content as NSC’s DDC 6/8 but in an engaging and
interactive environment only simulation technology can offer. This curriculum reflects essential aspects of safe vehicle
operation and allows drivers to gain knowledge and experience in dealing with driving situations.
Lessons include:
• Introduction to Virtual DDC
• What is defensive driving
• Making choices you can live with
• Be the defensive driving expert
• Driving environments include day, dusk, night, rain, fog
and snow.
• Virtual DDC has a virtual instructor that will guide
drivers through multimedia and simulation portion of
each session.
• Each lesson contains a subset of scenarios for education, practice, and evaluation.
• The Performance Assessment Scoring System tracks the driver’s progress.
is designed for driver improvement, reintegration and return to duty competency.
TM
COURSEWARE
• Lesson 1: Introduction to Virtual DDC: This introductory session will go over the various aspects of operating the
simulator. Drivers’ will complete two practice drives for familiarization of the system
• Lesson 2: What is Defensive Driving: This session will expose drivers about the basic defensive driving concepts to
include NSC’s Collision Prevention Formula. The driver must complete two drives that will reinforce how to properly
adjust mirrors and hazard recognition.
• Lesson 3: Making Choices you Can Live With: Multiple sessions within this lesson allow drivers to focus on driving
responsibility and choices showing how their physical and emotional conditions affect their driving ability. Drivers will
have three simulation drives to complete in this session.
• Lesson 4 and 5: What you do is What you Get Part 1&2: These are two sessions where drivers will be exposed to
uncontrollable driving conditions that include the top six unsafe driving behaviors. In these sessions, the multimedia
will provide techniques for dealing with the driving hazards and risks. The two sessions have a total of nine drives for
the driver to practice the techniques such as rule of thirds, following distance, and avoiding head- on collisions.
• Lesson 6: Be the Defensive Driving Expert: This is the final session which will challenge the driver to apply the
knowledge and skills learned throughout the course with a quiz and simulation drive.

Software content developed with leading researchers at the Boston VA Healthcare Center. The content focuses in the
assessment and treatment for individuals with sustained mTBI.
Lessons include:
• Practice Drive
• Four training drives (drive time for is approximately
10 minutes each):
- Residential with no obstacles
- Residential with obstacles
- Commercial/Downtown with obstacles
- Highway with obstacles
• Two Assessment Drives (drive time for is approximately
30 minutes each):
- Each scenario includes highway, urban and
residential drives
Data is collected throughout each drive to provide a clinician a detailed report after the drive for assessing ones’ ability.
During each drive, verbal commands are provided for navigation direction which requires a topographical orientation to their surroundings,
short term memory skills, and following directions challenging ones auditory process in receiving the information.
Complex tasks are introduced in the scenarios to include: divided attention and distractions. These tasks that include jaywalking and vehicles
pulling into the drivers’ path will require the driver to scan the road which will require the drivers’ visual attention.
is designed for baseline, assessment and reassessment.
TM
DATA COLLECTION CAPABILITIES
The data collected during each of these drives allows a clinician a tool for better assessing one’s cognitive state.
Categories assessed throughout each drive are:
• speed control
• lane control
• starting and stopping
• following distance
• turning and lane change
• intersections
• vehicle operation
• collisions
All data is collected 60 times per second allowing for a detailed analysis. A printable report is provided at the end of
each drive. This highly detailed report shows when an infraction occurred, type of violation, level of severity and the
description of the violation the driver committed.
