#HYPEPresents: The PoetryCafé. Readings and musical
performances by area youth with topics including living
with purpose, the power of faith, and the importance of
knowledge. 1pm-2:30pm
Join us as we celebrate the official opening of the
30+ mile Arabia Mountain PATH (AMP). Events are
lined up all along the trail so get ready for a day of
exploration and family fun! Check the map below to
make sure you don’t miss a thing. As you explore,
you can play our “Trail Treasures” game and earn
stickers for a one-of-a-kind souvenir.
Davidson Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve:
3787 Klondike Road, Lithonia, GA 30038. Free bike rentals,
bouncy house, bubble station, kids crafts, face painting,
guided hikes. 10am – 2pm
Panola Shoals Trailhead: 4432 Panola Road, Lithonia. See
live fish and river cane displays with the South River
Watershed Alliance. You can also register to win a South
River canoe outing! 9am - Noon
History Happenings: Lyon Farm 4506 Lyons Road,
Lithonia, GA, 30038 (only reachable by the trail) Ever
wondered about this historic farmhouse on the trail? Learn
about it from Johnny Waits, a direct descendent of the
slaves who worked the land. 10am - 2pm
Panola Mountain State Park: Alexander Lakes Trailhead
4835 Flat Bridge Road, Stockbridge Free activities:
kayaking, archery, educational hikes, and prizes. Cost: $5
Parking fee. 10am – 2pm
History Happenings: Parker House Along the trail by the
Alexander Lakes parking lot for Panola Mountain State
Park. Come discover the fascinating history of the oldest
home in Rockdale County. 10am - Noon
DeCastro Trailhead Celebration: Intersection of Union
Church and Daniels Bridge Road. Learn about the County
Extension Services, the top 10 trees on the trail, insects,
and gardening and enjoy a fun scavenger hunt. 8am- Noon
South Rockdale Community Park Celebration: 3909 East
Fairview Road Stockbridge, GA 30281. Arts and crafts,
games for children, and a special visit from Sparky the Fire
Dog and Pluggie the Fire Hydrant. 8am- Noon
Lorraine Trailhead Celebration: 3465 GA Highway 138,
Conyers, 30013. Learn more about county parks and
animal adoptions. Enjoy giveaways, fire truck displays, and
a Zumba class at 9am. 8am- Noon
Monastery of the Holy Spirit: 2625 Georgia 212, Conyers,
GA 30094. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Inaugural Bike
Ride. Events start at 8am and the MOHS is open until
4:30pm
