The world is yours.
Dear Partners,
What can a daring, strategic, passionately imagined institution like the YWCA
Greater Los Angeles do for the community you live in? It can gather our communities
around a common goal: to provide a voice for the voiceless. It can also expand our
ability to deliver workforce development and educational opportunities to a society that
couldn’t access it otherwise. It can jump-start our initiatives to build a better tomorrow.
In support of all these progressive programs, YWCA Greater Los Angeles is beyond
thrilled and proud to present the 2015 Rhapsody Gala on November 13th.
We hope you, your family and fellow colleagues join the YWCA Greater Los
Angeles for an evening of elegance, illusion and imagination. There are many ways
to show appreciation for those individuals in your life that have made your life
more valuable. This year at the Rhapsody Gala you can express the honor and the
appreciation, to all those special people in your life.
We would like to thank you for your support and celebrate our collaborative
efforts by dedicating an evening to you. We feel honored to have the ability to extend
special thanks to our donors and partners who generously give of their resources and
support to the community we serve. As our partnerships grow, so does our ability to
tackle 21st-century challenges.
The Rhapsody Gala will include a gourmet dinner, live music, spectacles, live auction,
and much more. We will present several prestigious awards to those that have given a
voice to the voiceless and truly distinguished themselves in the community, through
philanthropic and business initiatives that impact the advancement of
the disadvantaged.
Page 2 | 2015 rhapsody gala
Furthermore, the Rhapsody Gala is one of the premier events in the Los Angeles area,
hosted at the Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills. Our event attracts approximately 750 of the
most powerful and influential business and community leaders, celebrities, and legislators,
who are also passionate about solving the significant issues of the public.
For over 120 years, the YWCA GLA has been striving for excellence and forging
through the barriers of racism and injustice to educate and empower the community.
We continue to serve our community and we shed light on issues long-ignored. We
are committed to invest in career and college readiness skills for at-risk youth through
our workforce development and Job Corps programs, nurture the healthy growth and
development of youth and family, to heal survivors of sexual assault, and to connect senior
adults with learning experiences and social activities. Along the journey, we have reached
incredible milestones by directly responding to those that need help the most.
All of us in your YWCA Greater Los Angeles family are exceedingly appreciative for
your philanthropy. Let’s have a spectacular evening together filled with people like YOU
that are actively making changes in the community we live in.
IMAGINE. The World is YOURS.

About YWCA Greater Los Angeles:
Who We Are
We invest in career and college readiness skills for at‐risk youth; heal
survivors of sexual violence; nurture the healthy growth and development
of infants and children; and connect older adults with learning
experiences and social activities. As a YWCA, we advocate for justice
and dignity for all people with the goal of transforming lives, building
individual and family self‐reliance, and ultimately, strengthening our Los
Angeles community.
What We Do
Workforce Development: YWCA GLA Job Corps Urban Campus
houses and trains at‐risk youth ages 16 to 24. Our young people prepare
to meet the needs of today’s employers as they study to earn a degree,
learn a career, and join the workforce. The Digital Learning Academy is
a workforce development initiative created to address the digital skills
gap in today’s labor force.
Sexual Assault Crisis Services: For more than 25 years, YWCA GLA
has provided safe, non‐judgmental support and services to individuals
who experience any form of sexual violence. From providing a 24 hour
Page 4 | 2015 rhapsody gala
hotline, to compassionate and effective follow-up and counseling, we
provide the path to healing.
Child Development: We focus on the intellectual development
of our infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to ensure they are ready
to succeed in school. Today, low‐income parents participate in our
education programs which are an important component of our
mission as we aim to fully support the child and family unit.
Youth Programs: The program is designed to give youth the
educational tools and information they need to build their confidence,
achieve their dreams, and enrich their community.
Senior Engagement Services: We offer a variety of programs for
older adults including nutrition, social engagement, education, and
health/fitness activities.
With You, YWCA Greater Los Angeles creates
