Management trio leads Boca

There are dozens of reasons to make the Boca Woods
Country Club lifestyle your own.
With 645 single-family homes, 36 holes of
championship golf, eight newly resurfaced Har-Tru
tennis courts, delectable daily menus to feast on and
plenty of social events, it’s impossible to resist.
But the secret of Boca Woods’ success begins and
ends with teamwork.
General Manager Sandy McGaughey, Clubhouse
Manager Jon Wilke and POA Manager Mark Ruszczyk
bring nearly 100 years of club management experience
to this luxurious mandatory membership community.
“Jon, Mark and I represent the administrative or
management team,” McGaughey said. “We met about
10 years ago. We were all on a charitable committee
together, and that’s where we first established our
friendships. When I came here, I had my eye on both
Jon and Mark in the hopes they could join me.
“We’ve got one of the strongest triumvirates
right now of any club in Florida in terms of club
management. Mark and I hold CAM [Community
Association Manager] licenses. All three of us are
certified club managers, and I’m a Master Club
Manager.”
The Master Club Manager honor distinguishes
McGaughey as one of only 18 managers at that level in
the world.
“This is my sixth club and fifth club for Jon and
Mark,” McGaughey said. “We are always focused on
hiring the best staff so our members receive top-notch
service.”
McGaughey has overseen a range of improvements
to the amenities at Boca Woods Country Club, which
most recently include improvements to the pool area,
the addition of the Sunset Terrace, renovations to the
lobby and landscaping the entire back side of the club.
“You have a membership here that’s top-notch in
the sense that they’re supporting and embracing these
improvements,” Ruszczyk said. “That’s very important.
And the volunteer leadership and people who give their
time are just as important. I do notice that they’re
willing to take in and accept new people. The sense of
community here is essential.”
A big part of the community is and always will be the
golf program.
“We think we have one of the biggest and best golf
practice facilities in Florida,” McGaughey said.
“Since we’re a golfing community with two great
golf courses, it’s very important our golf courses are
supported with amazing practice facilities. We recently
brought in Bill Levy, our director of golf, and he makes
a great team with Catherine Pyrpiris.

organizations surviving without that.”
In addition, Ruszczyk emphasized two
key factors setting Boca Woods apart in the
competitive marketplace right now among
residential buyers.
“One asset is we have fiber optics in the
home for cable, Internet and phone,” he said.
“When you’re talking about technology going
forward, adding fiber optics to your home is a
critical component of the demographic we’re
looking toward to move in here. In addition,
we just had our first tear-down and a new
home is being built. That’s a huge jump in the
type of community perception we have in the
marketplace. People are demonstrating it’s
a community they want to live in for a long
time.”
Another asset that makes Boca Woods
Country Club so attractive to potential
homeowners is mutual respect between
members and staff. “As the clubhouse
manager, one thing we work is to make the
clubhouse an extension of the members’
home, and I believe that they see it like that,”
Wilke said. “That’s very important to us. We
provide such service and quality that our
events fill up. The members here are a very
savvy group and see the value in what they’re
getting here. The personal recognition they
get here is also essential. It’s very important
that you call the members by their names.
When a member is here at the club, they are
the star. Members love to entertain here and
bring friends and family in.”
Wilke also mentioned how appreciative
he and other staff members are to receive so
much support from club members.
“Sandy and the board are also very
supportive of our continuing education,”
Wilke said. “We keep our certifications, and

“We’ve also got a very strong team in the
kitchen. We’re very focused on upgrading all
our facilities and upgrading our food and
customer service to the level that buying a
house here is a no-brainer.”
Booming home sales in Boca Woods are a
strong indication of the club’s future.
“We believe we’ve sold more homes on
a percentage basis than any other club
community in Palm Beach County in the
last year,” McGaughey said. “We’re going to
sell 60 homes this year out of 600 homes. I
think you’d be hard-pressed to find another
club community in Palm Beach County that’s
sold 10 percent of their inventory.
“The reasons for that are we have great
value for what we do, we have a highly
confident and caring staff, we have a great
variety of facilities, and we believe that the
costs here are as competitive as any other
club community in Boca.”
Not only are the homes at Boca Woods a
great value, but McGaughey points out that
they’re all single-family homes with real
yards and landscaping, and the community
has no condominiums.
The community is also attracting more
families to add to the longevity of the club
lifestyle.
In addition, contemporary touches have
been added to the dining options at Boca
Woods to accommodate members.
The Sunset Terrace offers lunch and casual
dining at dinner for members who would
like to come in with jeans or golf clothes
and have a meal after 6 p.m. “Now we have
a designated area to eat where they won’t be
turned away,” McGaughey said.
“I think any organization going forward
now … has to have diversity, and we have
that here,” Ruszczyk said. “I don’t see

Boca Woods President Bob Roman
relishes his club’s success
By Joanie Cox-Henry

Mr. President: Bob Roman continues to ensure Boca Woods
Country Club is exceeding expectations. Todd Roller
Bob Roman has proudly served as president of Boca Woods Country
Club for three terms.
Now in his final term, which ends in March 2014, Roman is excited to
see the club flourishing.
“We’ve been able to achieve a lot of upgrading to the facilities,
including the golf courses, Cabana Grill, pool area and Sunset Terrace,”
Roman said. “We still want to update our fitness center, build a larger
bar area, and we’ve got other work to do, including possibly updating the
driveway at the entrance of the club and adding new restrooms to the
lobby area. We have a project list and excellent long-term planning group.
We’re constantly trying to keep the facilities as updated as possible.”
With restaurant and bar sales way up and golf and tennis participation
increasing, Boca Woods Country Club has become a 12-month facility
with year-round activities.
“One of the most important things we’ve built over the past six years
is our staff. Our staff is incredible,” Roman said. “The general manager
has put together a staff that has to be the best staff I’ve ever seen in a
private club. I’ve been a member of private clubs for more than 50 years,
and everybody from the restaurant to golf staff to tennis pro, golf course
maintenance group — they’re all top-notch. We’ve built a staff that’s
second to none. People come here, get treated wonderfully and love the
facilities. This is why we’re successful.”
As president, Roman said one of his favorite aspects of his role has
been getting to know Boca Woods’ members.
“Working with the staff has been great, and when you’re president, you
get to meet all members. You meet members you might’ve never gotten to
know if you weren’t president, so I think the interaction is a really great
part of the job,” he said.
“When you have 645 homes, it’s hard to get to meet everybody, but
through my position, I’ve gotten to meet many of them.”
Roman also acknowledged his own team. “For the past three years, I’ve
been blessed with an incredibly hard-working board of directors,” he said.
“No club can be successful without a devoted group of members willing to
work for the benefit of their club.”
When he’s not overseeing meetings and tending to needs of the
community and club, Roman’s other passion is out on the golf course.
“I’m a golfer, and that was a big motivating factor in moving to Boca
Woods,” Roman said. “I have two golf courses to enjoy, my own golf cart
and the ability to play golf pretty much whenever I want to.
“My wife and I are very active socially. We eat at the club on a regular
basis and attend most of the social functions. My wife and I both work
out at the fitness center on a regular basis. We generally use every aspect
of the club.”
Outside of the golfing and social amenities at Boca Woods, Roman is
especially appreciative of something the club has that money can’t buy –
a caring community of members.
“I’ve been living here for eight years, and I find the membership is
extremely friendly, and the most important thing is interacting like
family,” Roman said. “Whenever somebody has an illness, tragedy or
problem, the community really bands together to help them out and make
sure they’re OK. It’s a very friendly place to live.
“When we first came here, people immediately asked us if we were new
and if we wanted to join them. It was a great feeling.”

Bill Levy joins Boca Woods
as Director of Golf
By Joanie Cox-Henry
Boca Woods Country Club has scored
a hole in one with the latest addition to
its all-star team: new Director of Golf
Bill Levy.
Working at the club for just a few
months, Levy has improved the
already solid golf program at Boca
Woods by adding walking paths to the
driving ranges for aesthetics and for
functionality, installing range finders
to show distances to targets, hiring
more rangers and staff and putting in a
new speaker system for the starter.
“My job is to give our members and
their guests a superior golf experience
while making sure everything runs
smoothly,” he said.
Levy encourages his staff to get out
and play with the members and their
guests, which is always a “win-win.”
In addition to growing the
junior program with Catherine Pyrpiris,
technological advancements have also
been on-par at Boca Woods.
“We’re trying to give the members
in the swing of things: Bill Levy is leading Boca Woods in
more options,” Levy said.

Levy’s philosophy is not to take away,
but to add options.

entry to GHIN handicapping system,”
he said. “It is touchscreen technology
and is more widely used in the industry.
We updated our starting time request
system to Fore-tees, where they can set
times on iPhones, iPads as well as their
home computers.”
Golfing for 35 years, Levy went pro
in 1990 and instantly found the value
in dedicating his life to the sport.
“I love people and the challenge of the
game itself,” he said. “Playing different
golf courses brings out a lot of your
personality.”
Levy is formally trained as an artist
and has several sketches of his work
lining the walls of his office along with
photos of his other passion — fishing.
But his goal at Boca Woods is to keep
the members hooked on a well-run golf
game at a top-notch facility.
“Amenities here are great,” Levy said.
“We have a fantastic workout facility.
Our tennis program is top quality. The
golf department is excellent. This club
really took me by surprise, and I am
excited to be a part of this great team.”

Thinking about making the Boca Woods
lifestyle your very own?
You should get to know Membership and
Marketing Director Marley Knowles.
Shining in her role at Boca Woods since
2009, Knowles works closely with members,
staff and area Realtors to assist with home
sales and membership enrollments —
personally showing the club and introducing
prospective members to the benefits of
membership at Boca Woods.
“When a Realtor has a country club buyer,
we want them to remember Boca Woods. We
are here to facilitate in any way we can —
and we appreciate the hard-working Realtors
who understand the value at Boca Woods
and continue to bring their clients here,” said
Knowles, who proudly adds a personal touch
and pays careful attention to detail in her daily
tasks.
“Boca Woods is the best private-club value
in Boca Raton. We have all single-family
homes, no condo or duplexes. The community
is beautifully manicured, gated and secure. We
have two renovated golf courses, endless social
offerings and all the amenities that private
club living has to offer. On top of that, we have
a supportive membership and hard working
resident Realtors. Boca Woods is pretty much
selling itself.”
Another part of what Knowles said makes
the club so strong is mandatory membership.
“It’s the winning formula for private, gated club
communities like ours,” Knowles said. “We are
looking for that special buyer that perceives
and understands the value of a private club.”
With top-notch staff and luxurious
amenities, the heart of Boca Woods Country
Club remains its members.
“No doubt, it is the people that make our
club so special. This is my fifth club, and I’ve
never seen such a supportive membership,”
Knowles said. “Our members dine at the club,
sell out events, participate in activities and
voluntarily serve on committees. They truly
support their club.
“Most importantly, we have a friendly
membership. When prospective buyers are
looking at the club, our members go out of
their way to say hello and introduce themselves.
That does not go unnoticed.”
While the idea of working at a club with two
championship 18-hole golf courses is what
initially attracted Knowles to Boca Woods,
after landing the job, she was quickly impressed
with how well the membership treats staff.
“Our members take care of their employees,”
she said. “They offer good insurance benefits
and a 401K-match program. They obviously
care about us on a professional and personal
level.”

professional Catherine Pyrpiris

Boca Woods now includes members of all ages. TODD ROLLER
In addition to hosting weekly golf clinics for men and women, she also
partners with the fitness center to organize clinics geared toward golfers
and fitness techniques to strengthen one’s golf game.
“Work on your posture and your core balance and extension. If you
take a lesson with me, we’ll be focusing on that,” she said.
Playing on Boca Woods Country Club’s pristine golf courses is another
perk to her job.
“Our golf courses here are fantastic,” Pyrpiris said. “They’re in
immaculate condition. We have an excellent greenskeeper here.”
The Deerfield Beach resident and avid sailor and mountain
biker also counts on her team indoors to keep the golf program in perfect
shape.
“Laura Ferrara is our golf shop assistant, and she’s a super asset to this
club and the golf program,” Pyrpiris said.
“I’ve worked with 4-year-olds, and the oldest member I worked with
was 99. He was a week from turning 100. There’s never a bad age to
learn. You can always improve your golf game. The golf ball and golf club

Boca Woods Country Club golf professional Catherine Pyrpiris
has been golfing since age 9 and has dedicated more than three
decades of her life to the sport.
After teaching golf in Canada, she moved to America in 1999 to
continue her passion of sharing her extensive knowledge of the game
with others.
Now she teaches golf at Boca Woods and manages the club’s wellstocked golf shop.
“We started juniors clinics last summer,” Pyrpiris said. “The
community is changing, so it’s nice to see a younger generation of
golfers becoming strong players.”
Some of those juniors could be on their way to becoming the next
Morgan Pressel.
“We have some very talented junior golfers here at Boca Woods,”
Pyrpiris said. “Chloe Kovelesky and Kayla Bryant are both doing
really well and show great work ethics, and 14-year-old Jane
Goldman is very focused. She’s the top player on her high school golf
team.”
Heavily utilizing hands-on techniques, Pyrpiris assists Boca
Woods Country Club members to play their best game at all levels.
“The social lifestyle here is really busy,” Pyrpiris said. “From golf
and tennis to book clubs and lunch, our members always have fun
activities to do.”
Pyrpiris will also match members to a game so everyone gets a
chance to play. “Interacting with members, seeing them get excited
about a birdie or a good round is one of my favorite parts of the job.
It’s nice to see them come back with good feedback,” she said.

Give me Moore! Tennis at Boca Woods is a grand
slam with experienced director of tennis
match man: Geoff Moore is always enthusiastic to get new members out on the court. TODD ROLLER
By Joanie Cox-Henry
Boca Piquant

Tennis at Boca Woods has plenty of net worth
thanks to Geoff Moore, director of tennis at
Boca Woods Country Club.
The Australian tennis pro toured in the ’70s
as a star on the circuit and continues to actively
compete in senior tennis at local, state and
national tournaments.
Now in his fifth year teaching and directing
tennis at Boca Woods, Moore has given
members even more reasons to love the game.
“The program is growing year to year as we’re
selling a larger amount of houses and attracting
younger members,” Moore said. “We’re on track
to sell a record number of homes here this year,
which is great for the tennis program.
“Our junior program is also on the rise, from
5-year-olds to 17-year-olds. That’s exciting
for me because when I first arrived here, there
weren’t many junior players. I really enjoy
working with young tennis players, and I see a
bright future for the club in that area.”
As membership continues to soar, the
increase in tennis players is helping the club’s
leagues and programs.
“It’s exciting for me to be here while the
club is on the move again,” Moore said. “Our
Boca Woods ladies team came in first place.
The league won the 2013 Summer Claymates
Tennis League and Championship.”
The energetic Aussie has a love for the game
that inspires his students.
“We can guarantee everyone a game here,”
he said. “The ladies typically play Monday,
Wednesday and Friday, and men play Tuesday,
Thursday and weekends. We also have some
night programs. We have a variety of clinics,
and I teach all levels of play.”
In addition to standard league play, Boca
Woods offers members a variety of tennis
mixers.
“We have a lot of social as well as competitive
events throughout the tennis season,” Moore
said. “We have at least three professional tennis
exhibitions, and this year we will have a pickle
ball demonstration and exhibition.”
With eight newly resurfaced championship
Har-Tru clay tennis courts, and two courts
available for night play, Boca Woods has many
opportunities for tennis enthusiasts to indulge
in the game.
“Seeing the courts being used on a daily basis
is very rewarding. People who play tennis tend
to have a smile on their face.
“The U.S.T.A.’s theme is ‘Tennis for the
health of it.’ We have some members here who
are elderly and still competing,” Moore said.
“It’s been proven that if you play tennis a couple
times a week, it’s very healthy for your body.
It’s never too late to start playing. I’ve started
teaching many players here at age 65. If you’ve
got the time, tennis is such a great sport it
doesn’t matter when you start.”

“I concentrate on fish here since we’re in Florida surrounded by water,
and fish is really the freshest thing we can have here. That’s the main
reason I stop by my vendors so frequently. I try to keep nothing three
days old out of the water. Everything is either caught yesterday or the
day before.
“I think freshness is the most important thing. I also don’t use any
foods with any additives in it. I try to do everything natural.”
Keeping the menu as fresh as the ingredients is also a welcome
challenge for Yurdatap and his crew. “We change the menu quite often
to keep a variety. Members eat here quite often, and we have to keep
changing the menu to give them a great variety. We always have four or
five different local fish choices.”
Yurdatap also works very closely with Boca Woods Clubhouse
Manager Jon Wilke and Oz Aktas on the wine list.
“For our wine dinners, we do more of an interactive event for
members where we set up stations, and each station has a wine that
matches the food,” Yurdatap said. “It’s more of a mingling atmosphere
for members rather than formal seating. The future of this industry
is getting younger and more casual, and that definitely adds another

Dining at Boca Woods is an exquisite escape for the taste buds.
Chef Levent Yurdatap has been at the helm of Boca Woods’ kitchen
since April 1, and freshness is one of his main ingredients for success.
Yurdatap, who studied culinary arts at Art Institute of Fort
Lauderdale in 1992 and worked with Mark Militello of Mark’s Las
Olas as well as other country clubs before joining the Boca Woods team,
only serves premium produce, fish and meats.
“I wanted to implement the freshness of everything,” Yurdatap said.
“I go by my fish purveyor a couple times a week to check out the fish. I
also frequently stop by my produce purveyors to see what they have, and
I’m trying to go healthier on the menu. It’s one of our duties to give our
members heart-healthy and vegetarian items. I’m also working on some
vegan items, too.”
While he’s working on several ways to revamp Boca Woods Country
Club’s menu, Yurdatap’s focus is on the lunch menu. “We’re going to
have a Carnegie Deli-style station on our lunch buffet to do hot and
cold sandwiches, and we’ve expanded the salad bar. I’m trying to take the
focus off kitchen-plated food and make the buffet more colorful and
healthy.”
With five chefs under him, including sous-chef Neil Sorkin, Yurdatap
doesn’t get much of an off-season. The club enjoys year-round
membership and typically serves 250 members for lunch.
“I like to give our members the best dining experience they can have.
They have a lot of fine dining options, and I want this to be their
favorite restaurant,” Yurdatap said.

dimension to the club.”
Yurdatap’s sous-chef of three years, Neil Sorkin,
is another key player in the magic behind Boca
Woods’ menu.
“I’m Chef Levent’s right-hand man. I look
over all the soups and sauces and make sure
everything’s in line,” Sorkin said. “We oversee all
the food day and night and constantly develop
new menu items. The quality of our food is
unbelievable. We use only prime beef, and
everything is done from scratch. It all starts in a
sauté pan or a pot. We don’t buy any sauces.”
From Asian buffets to lobster-and-stone-crab
nights, Sorkin is proud to provide Boca Woods
members with food they’ll want to share with their
friends and families.
“If a member asks for a New York strip and
it’s not on the menu but we have it on hand, we’ll
prepare that for them,” said Sorkin, who trained at
Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I.,
and has been in the food industry for 25 years.
“It’s amazing knowing our name is on the food
we produce every day. Having a member say they
enjoyed it means everything to us.”
At the end of the day, Yurdatap and the kitchen
staff attribute their success to being team players.
“Team work is very important here, and it’s a
family in the front of the house and back of the
house,” Sorkin said. “We all work together here.
Nothing leaves the kitchen without us tasting it
first. Our members know about food and to meet
their expectations is hard work, but we’re happy to
take that challenge every day.”

the club invests in us the way we invest in the club.
It’s a give-and-give thing, and we’re very fortunate to
have such a nice membership.”
In addition to hiring only the best people for the
job, McGaughey also strives to stay in tune with his
employees’ lives outside the club.
“One of the secrets is that I make it a point to try
to know what everybody’s outside interests are and
how their families are doing,” McGaughey said, “The
longer you work together, the more important what
you do outside the job becomes. The essence of really
being in tune with your employees is endorsing their
having fun outside the club. You’ve got to have a good
balance. I want to make sure everyone who works here
is enjoying themselves when they’re not here. I think
that makes for a better environment here.”
Keeping a fully stocked social calendar for
members has also been an important recipe for
success at Boca Woods. As an active club year-round
with a whole summer social program, this year the
club plans to add a member talent show called “Boca
Woods Got Talent.”
“We do a golf tournament every month which is
very well-attended summer or winter. Our holidays
here such as Fourth of July, Labor Day and Memorial
Day are all very well-attended. They include events
throughout the holiday weekend, such as a Friday a la
carte dinner, a Saturday theme night, Sunday brunch
and Monday golf tournament,” Wilke said.
“There’s always something going on. We’ve
added lobster nights and wine dinners. We have a
recognized wine program here as well. Sandy and Oz
Aktas, assistant food and beverage manager, select
the wines. Our wine value is as good as any of our
other values here. We’ve also won a national wine
award three years in a row, so we’re going for four this
year.”
When it comes down to summing up the Boca
Woods experience, McGaughey says it best.
“We’re in a good niche. We’re affordable to a
much larger demographic than many other clubs,”
McGaughey said. “You can get on the golf course
whenever you want. We’re a friendly community, and
we have one of the best staffs in the county. We’re
building our membership much more quickly than
others because of our affordability. Value is a big
deal.”

Pastry chefs Gina Nocera and Janette Gaspar know how
to make la dolce vita at Boca Woods Country Club even
sweeter.
Nocera has been at Boca Woods for three years, with
Gaspar working beside her for the past two years.
Together, they’ve crafted delectable desserts, such as
Almond Joy popcorn, Bailey’s white chocolate pistachio
fudge and pineapple coconut cheesecake.
They also create seasonal desserts such as rum balls
and pumpkin popcorn balls after getting inspiration from
internet site Pinterest for fresh ideas.
“We try to keep up with the trends and keep members
happy,” Nocera said. “Flan and anything chocolate are our
most popular desserts. When members approach us and
compliment something we created, that is the best feeling
in the world. Also seeing what we can do is amazing.
There are days where we’ll have three parties in a row to
prepare desserts for, and it’s very rewarding to see how
much we can accomplish.”
Gaspar also welcomes the challenge. “Working
with Gina has been great. I’ve learned so much,” she

everything. In the beginning, I was into culinary dishes,
but I always enjoyed baking. This has become a big
passion of mine.”
Coming up with concepts for the desserts is also
collaborative.
“We’re friends as well as co-workers, so that’s a big
thing,” Nocera said. “We can bounce ideas off one another
and come up with new things. We are each there for one
another. Being on the same page and knowing we’re doing
the best job possible – our name is on it. Our members
also offer ideas on desserts they’d like to see us prepare.”
The dynamic duo, who both graduated from Florida
Culinary Institute, also whip up sugar-free desserts and
dessert cups for members looking for a lighter end-ofmeal option.
Boca Woods Bark, a decadent chocolate creation
that’s chock full of almonds, is another sweet staple that
members can look forward to at social gatherings.
“What l love most about the job is making people
happy,” Nocera said.
“When I came into this industry, that’s what I wanted to
do. I wanted to do the art aspect of creating desserts, and
I truly love dessert,” she said.
“Creative presentation is also an important part of what
we do because you’re eating with your eyes. We always
want to bring that ‘wow’ factor at Boca Woods when you

Junior program at Boca Woods is in full swing
By Joanie Cox-Henry
The junior golf program at Boca Woods
Country Club is hitting a hole in one with
some of the club’s youngest members.
Kayla Bryant, 5, Chloe Kovelesky, 6, and
Jane Goldman,14, frequently utilize Boca
Woods Country Club’s golf courses and attend
clinics to perfect their already impressive golf
games.
Kayla, who moved to the club with her family
in May, started playing golf at age 4. “I love
playing golf, especially at Boca Woods,” Kayla
said. She was selected as Player of The Year for
girls ages 7 and under on the Miami tour for
the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation.
Golfing with her mother and father, Kayla
hits the greens at Boca Woods three to four
times a week.
Chloe is also making incredible strides on
the golf courses at Boca Woods. Chloe shot a
2-over 110 for 27 holes to finish second in
Girls 7 and under at the U.S. Kids Golf World
Championships in Pinehurst, N.C.
“I’ve been playing golf all my life,” said
Chloe, who picked up her first golf club at just
9 months old. “I love putting and my strength
is my short game.”
Her father, Rich Kovelesky, is her coach. “I
want to be a professional golfer someday, like
Paula Creamer or Lexi Thompson,” Chloe said.
“Practicing is really important. I practice every
day.”
Jane Goldman is another shining star in
the junior golf program at Boca Woods. She
routinely plays golf there with her mother and
father, Jennifer and Michael Goldman.
“Jane just started high school and she’s on
the golf team at West Boca High School,”
Michael Goldman said. “She came in first in
the high school district championships and
also attended the International Junior Golf
Academy in Hilton Head.”
Jane started playing golf at age 5.
“Her mother and I are both strong golfers,”
Michael Goldman said. “She’s a really
wonderful kid, and we’re excited to see her
continue her success in this sport.”

Woodfield Tennis Director aces 15th “Player of
the Year” award
Focus and discipline are two
key components that take a
tennis professional from great
to award-winning. Jeff Cohen,
Tennis Director at Woodfield
Country Club, attributes these
two factors to his numerous
wins during the 2012 season.
Those wins earned him the
2013 USPTA Men’s 45 Doubles
Player of the Year and Men’s
45 Singles Player of the Year
awards. These distinctions were
awarded by the United States
Professional Tennis Association
(USPTA), the world’s oldest and
largest association of tennisteaching professionals.
True American heroes honored at Woodfield’s Labor Day
Golf Tournament
The Labor Day Golf Tournament at Woodfield Country
Club was filled with an exciting round of golf, food and
awards, but the highlight of the
event was the honored guests
from Fairways for Warriors, a
non-profit foundation that supports disabled servicemen and
women. Sixteen veterans traveled from Tampa and Orlando
to participate in the event, and
they joined 76 members on
the greens for this exceptional
tournament. Members and
guests enjoyed sharing stories
and their appreciation for the
game of golf.

Boca Woods just keeps getting better, members say
Eddie and Sharon Jampol
have been living at Boca Woods
Country Club for five years.
“The golf courses are superb
and the amenities are top notch,”
Eddie Jampol said. “The staff
can’t do enough for you. Their
primary goal is to satisfy the
members. The facilities are
impeccably maintained and the
entire ambiance of the club is
truly exceptional.”
His wife, Sharon Jampol,
also appreciates the beauty
and friendliness found at Boca
Woods. “I always feel like part
of a big family here,” she said.
“It is basically a gregarious and
unpretentious community. If I am
exercising in the gym or taking
Zumba, I always find people to to
talk with and have fun. I guess we
think it’s a fabulous place to live
seeing my mother-in-law has has
resided here since 1982 and now
her two sons and their families
live here.”

Roshan and Claude Moraes
have resided in the Boca Woods
Country Club community for 27
years, and much like a fine wine,
they said, the club just gets better
every year.
“This club has everything
one could ever need for a happy
retirement,” Claude Moraes said.
“It’s a super-friendly place with a
casual atmosphere. Our staff is
outstanding and so is our general
manager. You don’t have to wait
for a golf game, and after noon,
you can play round after round.”
His wife, Roshan Moraes, is
also impressed with the familyfriendly aspect of the club.
“It’s a very family-oriented
community and many families
are moving in with young kids,”
she said. “The people here are
very friendly and embrace you
immediately.”
In a typical day here, Claude
Moraes said, “you can get up and
have breakfast, play tennis, go to
lunch, play cards all afternoon
and then go for a wonderful
dinner,” he said. “The mandatory
membership here makes it very
attractive and guarantees to keep
the standard.”
