Shee pfold Christmas Memories
As the staff and volunteers work together in the spirit of our Savior, wrapping and sorting
gifts, receiving and meeting donors, listening to donors’ stories of God’s work in their lives,
we experience some of the most uplifting moments of the year.
Last Christmas was one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.
It was overwhelming to look at all of the presents surrounding the tree.
Words couldn’t express how humble and blessed by God it made me feel.
Volunteers give the greatest gift ...
Everyone received such beautiful, amazing gifts! I was enjoying
watching my one-year-old opening her gifts, and I didn’t notice Drena, the
house manager, coming over to me with my final
gift. It was the hugest present I’ve ever seen! It was
almost as tall as me! I began to open it and when I
saw what it was, tears began to pour down my face.
It was a guitar.
My mind flashed back to the summer at my
garage sale when I sold my guitar. I couldn’t bear to
watch it, so I went inside and let my dad sell it for
me. Too many painful memories of my
abusive relationship were tied to that
guitar—so I let it go. It broke my
heart—but I let it go.
—Romans 6:23
Christ Jesus our Lord.
. . but the gift of God
is eternal life in
I prayed that God would one day
bless me with a guitar again, and as I
opened that gift, it’s like God said to
me, “I hear you and I see you, and I care
about every detail of your life.”

Matching Gift 2011
If you are considering a gift to The Sheepfold in 2011,
now is the ideal time. November and December remain for
our generous $250,000.00 matching funds donation.
As of this writing (October 26th) we are pleased to report
your wonderful response. We have received $111,505.00 in
special donations marked “mortgage payoff”. With the match,
$223,010.00 is paid off. What a Blessing!!
This also means that there is the opportunity
of $138,495.00 matching funds still available to
reduce the mortgage on the Orange County
Second Step facility.
Thank you for responding
to this generous matching gift opportunity.
May God Bless You as you partner
with us for abused mothers and children.
Mentoring at The Sheepfold
I have tutored kids for about two years at The Sheepfold. It’s a small sacrifice compared to
the real work that others do for the moms and kids, but it was my way of helping out.
Looking back on the five boys I have had the utmost privilege to work with, I have to say
that this ministry has had a real impact on my life.
I started out with the very modest goal of helping kids with their homework – what I left
with was a sense of humility and a feeling of hope that will withstand many obstacles. It
wasn’t about teaching multiplication tables or reading comprehension, as much as it was
about being someone who cares about the well-being of another person. That means sharing a laugh or tossing a football was
just as important as any lesson.
Too often, I viewed service as something to relieve my conscience, but it only took a couple of eager smiles when I walked
through the door to remind me that this had very little to do with me – and everything to do with these resilient boys who
have had to grow up all too quickly.
I thank The Sheepfold for the wonderful ministry that it is and even though my schedule will no longer allow me to tutor,
my prayers will always be with you.
