(s12-1) Mediterranean Couscous Salad Isn’t this salad bright and beautiful? Cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, and eggplant combine with couscous, olives, feta, and basil for a zesty and refreshing Mediterranean salad. It’s a great way to get the whole family to eat their veggies – even the eggplant! Not familiar with cooking eggplant? No worries, we’ve got you covered. Eggplant is an excellent source of fiber and antioxidants, and has been shown to lower cholesterol, plus it tastes delicious, so it’s a great ingredient to use in different dishes. If you have time, the best way to prepare an eggplant is to salt it. Do this simply by cubing the eggplant (leaving the skin on), sprinkling with salt, and leaving it to sit in a colander for 1-2 hours. 24 Hours MARK SUNDERMAN 655.8993 315.374.3625 cell 315. mark55@twcny.rr.com www.littlejonsplumbing.com Over 40+ Years Experience Master Plumber License #198 Plumbing & Heating Repair & Replacement Service This process draws out the juices and firms the flesh, so the eggplant will be less likely to soak up all the oil. Remember to rinse off the salt and pat the eggplant dry before cooking! Salting the eggplant isn’t necessary, it’s just how we do it in our house. This salad is filled with feta, tomatoes, and olives, which makes for a wonderfully Mediterranean flavor. Go ahead and give this colorful dish a try! The first Thursday meetup will be held September 15th at 3:00 pm in the Community Room. Since its release in 2009, Minecraft has become a global sensation. Minecraft is described as a “sandbox game,” in which players create their own gaming experience by exploring, interacting with, and modifying a virtual landscape. There are no stated objectives nor is there a set path that players must follow. Thus, the game allows for an unprecedented level of freedom, permitting players to explore, discover, and create without the constraints of rules or the pressure of competition. Minecraft has two major game modes. In creative mode, players are given access to an unlimited supply of blocks to create anything and everything they can imagine. In survival mode, users are responsible for procuring resources themselves and for keeping their characters alive, using problem-solving and decision-making skills to deal with hunger, enemies, and other threats. Tune their ears to the truth – to the knowledge of God, for from You flows all true knowledge. Increase the capacities of their intellects, Lord. Teach them to reign in and silence all rogue, negative thoughts. Give them faith in You, faith in your promises, hope for their destinies, and a desire to run the race and never give up. They can be atomically smooth or rough, hydrophilic or hydrophobic, insulating or conductive, electrically charged or neutral; the list goes on. The voids can be made as cavities (to confine various substances) or open-ended tunnels (to transport different gases and liquids), which is of huge interest for fundamental research and many applications. It is limited only by imagination what such narrow tunnels with designer properties can potentially do for us. Properties of materials at this truly atomic scale are expected to be quite different from those we are familiar with in our macroscopic world. To demonstrate that this is the case of their atomic-scale voids, the Manchester group tested how water runs through those ultra-narrow pipes. To everyone’s surprise, they found water to flow with little friction and at high speed, as if the channels were many thousands times wider than they actually are. Such capillaries were never imagined, even in theory. No one thought that this degree of accuracy in design could be possible. New filtration, desalination, gas separation technologies are kind of obvious directions but there are so many others to explore’. Sir Andre added ‘Making something useful out of an empty space is certainly cute. Finding that this space offers so much of new science is flabbergasting. Even with hindsight, I did not expect the idea to work so well. There are myriads of possibilities for research and development, which now need to be looked at. We are stunned by the choice.’ JANCZUK REPAIR BOWDEN PLUMBING & HEATING - Auto & Truck Repair - PO Box 51, DeRuyter, NY 13052 Monday-Friday 8-5 - All Major Credit Cards Accepted 27 Years Experience SERVING CAZENOVIA AREA Atomic Scale Pipes Available On Demand And By Design Date: September 7, 2016 Source: University of Manchester Now a Manchester group led by postdoctoral researcher Radha Boya and Nobel laureate Andre Geim show how to make the impossible possible, as reported in Nature. The new technology is elegant, adaptable and strikingly simple. In fact, it is a kind of antipode of the famous material graphene. When making graphene, people often take a piece of graphite and use Scotch tape to extract a single atomic plane of carbon atoms, graphene. The remaining graphite is discarded. In this new research, Manchester scientists similarly extracted a strip of graphene from graphite, but discarded the graphene and focused on what was left: an ultra-thin cavity within the graphite crystal. As the royal audience was now over, they began to leave the Throne Room and soon there were none remaining except Ojo and his friends and Ozma and her favorites. The girl Ruler now asked Ojo to sit down and tell her all his story, which he did, beginning at the time he had left his home in the forest and ending with his arrival at the Emerald City and his arrest. Ozma listened attentively and was thoughtful for some moments after the boy had finished speaking. Then she said: MORSE CONSTRUCTION 655-4745 All Phases of Home Remodeling & Maintenance “The Crooked Magician was wrong to make the Glass Cat and the Patchwork Girl, for it was against the Law. And if he had not unlawfully kept the bottle of Liquid of Petrifaction standing on his shelf, the accident to his wife Margolotte and to Unc Nunkie could not have occurred. I can understand, however, that Ojo, who loves his uncle, will be unhappy unless he can save him. Also I feel it is wrong to leave those two victims standing as marble statues, when they ought to be alive. So I propose we allow Dr. Pipt to make the magic charm which will save them, and that we assist Ojo to find the things he is seeking. Dorothy bad been listening with interest to this conversation. Now she turned to Ozma and asked: “May I go with Ojo, to help him?” “Would you like to?” returned Ozma. “Yes. I know Oz pretty well, but Ojo doesn’t know it at all. I’m sorry for his uncle and poor Margolotte and I’d like to help save them. May I go?” “If you wish to,” replied Ozma. “If Dorothy goes, then I must go to take care of her,” said the Scarecrow, decidedly. “A dark well can only be discovered in some out-of-the-way place, and there may be dangers there.” “You have my permission to accompany Dorothy,” said Ozma. “And while you are gone I will take care of the Patchwork Girl.” 363-8660 “I’ll take care of myself,” announced Scraps, “for I’m going with the Scarecrow and Dorothy. I promised Ojo to help him find the things he wants and I’ll stick to my promise.” “Very well,” replied Ozma. “But I see no need for Ojo to take the Glass Cat and the Woozy.” “I prefer to remain here,” said the cat. “I’ve nearly been nicked half a dozen times, already, and if they’re going into dangers it’s best for me to keep away from them.” “Let Jellia Jamb keep her till Ojo returns,” suggested Dorothy. “We won’t need to take the Woozy, either, but he ought to be saved because of the three hairs in his tail.” “Better take me along,” said the Woozy.
