Our Mission Statement
Downtown Frederick Partnership works to enhance, promote
and preserve the vitality and economic viability of Downtown
Frederick by implementing the national Main Street Program for
the benefit of Frederick businesses, residents and visitors.
Organization Committee
The Organization Committee raises funds and recruits volunteers to
support the work of the Partnership
• A
warded $20,000 in Community
Investment Tax Credits which
were quickly sold to downtown
stakeholders in return for an
investment in the Partnership
• D
eveloped the City Club Social Series to
provide a new, interactive element to
the Partnership’s fundraising efforts
• E
ducated the community on the
work of the Partnership through
speaking engagements with
professional and civic organizations
throughout Frederick County,
including the Rotary Club of Southern
Frederick and the Frederick County
Bar Association
• S
uccessfully sold the most
sponsorships in the organization’s
history for the 2015 Alive @ Five
season, surpassing the goal by 45%
• I ncreased the number of volunteer
hours contributed to the organization
by 11%, for a total of 5,000 hours
Business Development
The Business Development Committee supports and helps grow our
downtown business community
• Launched Shop Frederick, a new
loyalty app to encourage and reward
shopping and dining in Downtown
Frederick. The app is available for
both iPhone and Droid
• Organized the 8th annual
Competitive Edge series designed
to help small business owners
by offering expertise on how to
maximize social media, provide
wonderful hospitality, host events
and more
• L
aunched PNC Bank Mission: Interior,
a one-on-one design assistance and
grant program to help businesses
improve their interior spaces.
Two businesses were selected for
implementation out of 11 applicants
• W
elcomed more than 300 new
Hood College students to Frederick
with a special Taste of Downtown
Frederick orientation event
• A
dvocated for changes to City policies
for restaurants with entertainment,
with a goal of increasing the amount
of entertainment in Downtown
Frederick

reated Launch It Downtown, a
business marketing package to help
downtown businesses get off to a
great start and celebrate milestones
Design Committee
The Design Committee addresses the physical appearance of Downtown
Frederick and advocates for policy changes to make it easier to grow downtown
Promotion Committee
• Actively supported efforts to make
a downtown hotel a reality
The Promotion Committee tirelessly brands and promotes Downtown Frederick,
as a vibrant destination that attracts more than 1.4 million visitors each year
• Installed three dual-flow cans
introducing the first recycling service
to the public streetscape
• C
ontinued to attract huge crowds to
Downtown Frederick through First
Saturdays. A new study revealed that
an average of 14,000 people attend
the event each month and spend more
than $502,000 on each First Saturday,
reflecting an annual infusion to the
local economy of more than $6
million and 168,000 people
• Advocated for City regulation
changes to increase the number
of sidewalk cafes
• H
eld nearly 70 events in Downtown
Frederick ranging from cooking classes
to First Saturday to boot camps on
Carroll Creek

osted three Movie Nights on Carroll
Creek which averaged 400 attendees
per event

eceived a $25,000 matching grant
to present the Levitt AMP Frederick
Music Series, new, free concerts
on Tuesday evenings at the Carroll
Creek Amphitheater

ompleted the design concept
for the potential improvement of
the Seventh Street Fountain with
significant community input

eld the 3rd annual Bring a Broom
Saturday event during which more
than 250 volunteers cleaned up
a total of more than 40 blocks in
Downtown Frederick

rovided nine cigarette receptacles
and distributed 500 portable
ashtrays to restaurants to help keep
Downtown Frederick sidewalks free
of littered cigarette butts
