Dear Music Lovers,
Welcome to a new season of great music. Attending
a live symphony concert is a visceral experience and
something I cherish deeply. There is of course the
music itself, and this season is no exception in that
department. But there is also the performance –
sixty-seven of North America’s top musicians
performing in perfect synchronicity with the best guest
artists in the world. When you put these two elements
together it creates something greater, a concert that
will move you deeply. That is why our work is about
more than just entertainment, it is about creating
experiences that will touch your soul.
See you at the Concert Hall!

As part of the WSO’s 2016 Fall Festival, the
Phil is offering an array of choral works by
20th century French composers including
Debussy, Ravel, Duruflé and Fauré. The
centrepiece of the Phil's season-opener is
Poulenc's modern choral masterpiece, Gloria.
wso.ca/wpgphil
The Phil is thrilled to perform again with
the WSO and guest soloists in Schubert’s
last - and possibly greatest - choral work,
his Mass No. 6 in E-flat Major. Also on the
program is Brahms’s brilliant and moving
Nänie. A choral concert not to be missed!

Finjan, klezmer band
Julian Pellicano, conductor
Few knew about klezmer music when Finjan came on
the Winnipeg scene 30 years ago. As Canada's first
roots band of its type, Finjan paved the way for a
klezmer and Yiddish music revival. The band has
produced five award-winning discs, toured North
America countless times and has performed with
Garrison Keillor on A Prairie Home Companion, the
Lonesome Pine Specials on PBS and in the movie
The Outside Chance of Maximillian Glick. To life? Finjan!
