The Romanian NGDO Platform – FOND
FOND Vision - a world in which Romania is actively involved in promoting international development cooperation and acts in the
spirit of solidarity and equal opportunities for all nations.
Mission - FOND is a representative, active and recognized Platform both at national and international level. Its mission is to help
developing and implementing a coherent and effective policy of Romania in international development cooperation and
humanitarian aid field, to increase the capacity of member organizations to educate the general public on development
cooperation by implementing projects and specific programs, networking, training sessions, research, public policies and
advocacy activities.

FOND is a platform of 46 Romanian NGOs that expressed their intention to be actively involved in programs and projects related
to international development cooperation. FOND aims to contribute to the strengthening of the Romanian NGOs' capacity to act
in the field of international development cooperation and humanitarian aid, in order to achieve the following goals: promote
the involvement of Romanian NGOs in the national and European international development cooperation policies; support the
Romanian NGOs towards an effective contribution to the support of developing countries; increase Romanian citizens' awareness
on the principles of international solidarity and development cooperation, as tools for fighting against poverty, promoting
freedom and human rights and providing aid for humanitarian crisis victims all over the world.
FOND is an active member of the European NGO Confederation for Relief and Development (CONCORD), founding member of
the International Forum of National NGO Platforms and represents the international coalition Global Call to Action against
Poverty (GCAP) in Romania.
Romania sustains the development of states from its geographic priorities areas for the Romanian foreign relations, namely the
Eastern European states and South Caucasian countries. The list of beneficiary states can be expanded towards Central Asia,
Africa and Latin America. Romania is prepared to offer assistance in the following areas: good governance, child protection the
strengthening of democracy and the rule of law, economic development, development education, health, development of
infrastructure and environment protection.

FOND members are nongovernmental organizations active in
various fields in Romania which are committed to transfer the
expertise accumulated in the transition period to developing
countries in the neighborhood and in the Global South.
Various Romanian NGOs and FOND members are already
involved in cross-border and regional projects and programmes
in the Balkans, as well as in Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia.
Most of FOND members are interested to work in the following
fields: Development Education, Education and professional
training, Democracy and Good Governance (including Human
Rights and Child Protection) and Health, mostly in neighboring
countries (Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine).
FOND Members
Civil Society Development Foundation (CSDF)
CSDF is an independent, non-governmental organization, established in 1994, following an initiative of the
European Commission. CSDF is an “organization for organizations”, sharing the belief that the very
development of non-governmental organizations is an indicator of the progress of communities and
citizens.
Reaching out to other categories of stakeholders and target groups, which had become more and more relevant for the overall
development of the civil society, CSDF is currently pursuing its mission by providing services not only to NGOs, but also to public
administration, the business sector, journalists, academia.

CENTRAS – The Assistance Center for Nongovernmental Organizations
CENTRAS is an organization with certified experience in the field of reinforcing the NGO sector in Romania,
thus contributing to the country's social and democratic development. During its almost 17 years as an
active resource center, CENTRAS supported the foundation and the capacity-building process of numerous
NGOs, providing them with training and counseling. CENTRAS supports the associative sector and encourage democratic
expression – by offering information (www.centras.ro/database, online donations - www.donatiionline.ro), trainings, support for
getting involved in public debates, counseling.

CARITAS Confederation
Inspired from the Catholic Social Learning, the Caritas Organizations' mission is supporting the poor and
the socially isolated people to manifest them and regain the right to a decent life by means of complex
social assistance programs and charitable and humanitarian actions. Caritas Confederation Romania
represents 10 Caritas organizations in Romania.
The Confederation has been created in order to promote its members' social projects and contribute to
lobby actions that could influence social policies both on national and international level. All Caritas
organizations in Romania have partnerships with local authorities and provide social service to
disadvantaged children at risk, people with special needs, elderly, families with multiple children, on a low
income.
Fields of expertise: social and professional trainings, education, psycho-social and material support, assistance and counseling
for persons with special needs, prevention and reduction of disaster risks, intervention in calamity stricken communities, rural
development counseling and training, facilitating access to medical assistance, social and cultural services, providing information

Save the Children Romania
Save the Children Romania (Salvati Copiii Romania) is a national non-governmental, of public utility
organization which has been promoting child's rights in Romania since 1990. The organization's mission is
to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children, and to achieve immediate and lasting
change in their lives. Save the Children's vision is a world in which every child attains the right to survival,
protection, development and participation. Save the Children is lobbying for influencing social policies and the legislation in the
benefit of children, providing support for: institutionalized children - refugee children and minority groups, children victims of
trafficking, children with disabilities.

The Ecumenical Association of Churches in Romania - AIDRom
AIDRom is an ecumenical organization of five Churches, founded in 1991, representative at both
confessional and ethnical level in Romania. AIDRom has been constituted as a platform for financing,
communitarian development and inter-confessional and inter-ethnical dialogue.

Peace Action Training and Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR)
PATRIR was founded in 2001 as a non-governmental, non-profit, politically independent organization in
Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The institute has as basic principles non-violence, conflict transformation, the
promotion of human rights through information and awareness raising by solutions oriented, social,
political and economic analysis.
PATRIR was created as a result of numerous dialogues with representatives from various social sectors, as a
response to the need of change within the local communities.

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization, working with children,

“AUR”- The Human Resources Specialists National Association
AUR is a professional non-governmental organization, created in order to promote the concept of human
resources in Romania. The main objectives include: defining, elaborating and implementing the
professional standards within the human resources area, implementing national and international
projects promoting human rights and labor rights, as well as the equal opportunity legislation, active
involvement in the promotion and implementation of the Romanian development policy for the
achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, creating partnerships and networks at national and

Contraceptive and Sexual Education Society
Contraceptive and Sexual Education Society is a nongovernmental, apolitical Romanian NGO who
militates for promoting and respecting the right to free access for every person at education for health and
to complex services, of high quality and integrated, in the domain of human reproduction health, based on
own informed decision. SECS is one of the first institutions in Romania that provides family planning information and services for
population.

„Close to you” Romanian Foundation
The Close to You Romania Foundation (Alaturi de Voi) is a non-governmental organization, established in
February 2002 by Holt International Children's Services with financing from USAID, as an answer to the
need for support expressed by HIV/AIDS-infected and affected people and preventing the transmission of
the HIV infection in the community.

PRO Democracy Association (APD)
APD is a non-governmental, non - profit and non-party affiliated organization established in 1990. APD

Foundation for Democratic Change
The Foundation for Democratic Change (FDC) is a Romanian non-governmental, non-profit organization,
legally registered in 1996.
From the outset, FDC has been carrying out the consistent promotion of mediation, as well as the building
of a system that allows for its proper application, along with the other alternative conflict resolution
techniques, as adapted to the specifics of the complexity of the Romanian society.

ADO SAH ROM – Association of Organization Development
ADO SAH ROM was set up in 1996 as an agency of implementation of the Swiss Labor Assistance projects in
the field of services on the labor market, modernization of trade unions and social dialogue in Romania. In
2000 it was developed the Association for Organization Development - SAH ROM (ADO SAH ROM), a nongovernmental organization which aims at contributing to the development of organizations, prevailingly
those which contribute to the development and implementation of social policies in employment and combating unemployment,
as well as policies of regional and community development.

Created in 1993, Estuar Foundation's mission is to provide social options and alternatives for adults with
mental health problems for their reintegration within the Romanian community. Estuar Foundation's

members, specialists in psychiatry, social assistance, psychology, law, etc., local and central authority

A.R.T. Fusion Association was born in the spring of 2005. Attitude (A), Reality (R), Youth (T) are the

The Citizens Advice National Bureau Association (ANBCC)
