This past year, several members of the Doheny family graciously donated an array of family artifacts and
personal effects to the Friends of Greystone.
Among the most intriguing was a set of two demitasse
cups, each with a photo of a bride and groom. Donated by
Mrs. Tim Doheny, these cups commemorated the wedding of Edward Laurence Doheny Jr. and Lucy Smith
Doheny, Tim Doheny’s parents. Mrs. Doheny’s gift also
included photos and other personal items.
Michael Niven and his family donated an extensive
collection of articles belonging to their mother, Lucy
Estelle Doheny Washington, including family photos and
engraved sterling silver chaffing dishes.

Kacey Doheny McCoy donated her grandmother Lucy’s black leather luggage set,
monogrammed with the initials “LSB”, from the years Lucy was married to Leigh M. Battson.
Joyce Doheny, widow of Edward Laurence Doheny III, also donated a few unique items. These
include several monogrammed leather travel cases, a two tiered leather tobacco pipe box and
three unusual shadow boxes filled with gold toiletries and other grooming items.
These personal gifts were on display during the First Annual Concours d’Elegance at Greystone
Mansion.
The Friends of Greystone archives are made possible through the generous support of the
Doheny family.
FOG also received an extravagant gift
from The Kazanjian Foundation. This
gift includes a gold lady’s applicator
with mirror and a gold mesh purse,
engraved “To Lucy, Xmas 1913,
From Pa D and Ma D.”
The Friends of Greystone are
honored to preserve, archive
and display in our ever growing
collection these keepsakes of a
family and these mementos of a
time gone by.

25th Annual Volunteer Recognition Reception
Greystone Estate, May 26th, 2010
The Volunteer Recognition Reception
was held for the first time at Greystone
Estate on May 26th, 2010. During the
year 2009 the City of Beverly Hills
enlisted the assistance of a total of 508
volunteers. Many of our volunteers have
enjoyed working at Greystone assisting
Jeff Kolin , BH City Manager
with various events.
The volunteers, contributing over 40 Susan Rosen, FOG Board Member
hours per year, were invited to the
celebration and those who served the City for
over 10 years received the Mayor’s Tenure
Award. The result was an excellent recognition
event and gratitude and compliments were heard
from volunteers of all ages.
