Alex Alvarez Brandon Bishop Josh Carter Shrewsbury High Senior, Running Back Nipmuc Regional Senior, Wide Receiver Marlboro High Senior, Quarterback T he 5-foot-7, 160-pound Alvarez was a key component in the Colonials going 13-0 and winning the Division 1A Super Bowl over Westfield. The win cemented the first perfect season in Shrewsbury’s history and also earned Terry Walles’ Colonials the distinction of being the first team in Central Mass. to record 13 wins in a season. Alvarez rushed for 1,041 yards on 181 carries and scored 11 touchdowns for Shrewsbury and was named the Division 1 East Offensive MVP. Alvarez also was named the team’s offensive MVP. He holds the school record for most consecutive years with a kick return touchdown. The Colonials’ come-from-behind, 21-17, victory over Westfield in this year’s Super Bowl was his most memorable sports moment. Alvarez also excels in indoor and outdoor track for Shrewsbury, and is a four-year veteran of both teams. He is the son of Toby and Steve Alvarez of Shrewsbury. T he 6-foot-1, 200-pound Bishop led the Warriors to the Division 2 playoffs before falling to Shepherd Hill, as Bishop established himself as one of the premier wide receivers in Central Mass. With quarterback Willy Kempton throwing to him, Bishop led the area by catching 54 passes for 1,012 yards and 10 touchdowns, which earned him Division 2 East’s Offensive MVP award. It was the second consecutive season Bishop led Central Mass. in receiving, as he recorded 739 yards and 10 TDs in 2006. A co-captain for first-year coach Phil Schiloski, Bishop leaves Nipmuc with the all-time record for touchdowns and receiving yards. Bishop is also a standout baseball and basketball player for the Warriors, and while he is unsure of where he will attend college, Bishop does want to play sports there. Bishop also made 14 tackles and one interception on defense. He is the son of Joe and Cindi Bishop of Mendon. C Tim Douglas Jonathan Gomez Dan Halley Fitchburg High Senior, Tight End Fitchburg High Senior, Running Back Shepherd Hill Regional Senior, Running Back T T he 6-foot, 205-pound Douglas helped the Red Raiders to a 9-3 mark and a spot in the Division 1A playoffs before losing to undefeated Shrewsbury in a thriller. One of the top blocking tight ends in the area, Douglas helped the Red Raiders amass a staggering 387 points this year. Douglas is more known for his prowess on the defensive side of the ball, earning Division 1 North all-star honors as a defensive end. The Fitchburg co-captain also earned a spot on the Fitchburg Sentinel & Enterprise’s all-star team for the last two seasons. Douglas is also a standout on the Red Raiders’ indoor and outdoor track teams, earning team MVP honors last spring. Douglas enjoys weightlifting, watching television, sleeping and relaxing in his spare time. He is undecided on where to attend college next fall. Douglas feels this year’s 25-21 win over St. John’s — a game Fitchburg trailed, 21-6, was his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Tim and Victoria Douglas of Winchendon. he 5-foot-7, 165-pounder rushed his way to a Central Mass.-best 1,881 yards on 264 carries as he helped Fitchburg to a spot in the Division 1A playoffs. Gomez scored 21 touchdowns and was named the Offensive MVP in the Division 1 North. Despite being plagued by injuries at the end of the season, Gomez was one of the more exciting running backs in the area, and rushed for more than 90 yards in every regularseason game and surpassed 100 in all but two. Gomez also broke the 200-yard barrier five times this year, including a torching of North Middlesex for 283 yards and four TDs. Also a member of Fitchburg’s indoor and outdoor track teams, Gomez recalls getting into a varsity game as a freshman as his most memorable sports moment. Undecided on where he will attend college, Gomez enjoys relaxing in his spare time. He is the son of Mayra Reyes of Westford. he 5-foot-7, 170-pound Halley rewrote the Shepherd Hill record books, amassing 1,951 yards on 193 carries and scoring 25 touchdowns. Halley now is the school’s leader in rushing yards in a season, career rushing yards, points in a season, consecutive 100-yard games, touchdowns in a season and yards per carry (10.11). Halley amassed 1,881 yards in the regular season and finished second in Central Mass. Halley was named the MVP of the Division 2 West and was the running back, defensive back, kicker and punter for the Chris Lindstrom’s Rams, who captured the Division 2 Super Bowl in a thrilling, 34-21, come-from-behind win over East Longmeadow. While he is undecided on where to attend college, he hopes to pursue a career in sports management. His father, David, played football and baseball at Oxford High before graduating in 1986. He is the son of David and Maureen Halley of Charlton. Jeremy Kimber Victor Martinez Travis Patterson Fitchburg High Senior, Quarterback Southbridge High Junior, Wide Receiver Nashoba Regional Junior, Running Back T he 6-foot-3, 170-pound Kimber completed a stellar four-year career at Fitchburg and was the starting quarterback for the Red Raiders for the past three seasons. Kimber finished 10th in passing in Central Mass., throwing for 1,256 yards and 20 touchdowns while completing 81 of 131 passes to earn the Division 1 North MVP award. Kimber led Fitchburg to a spot in the Division 1A playoffs before the Red Raiders fell on a last-minute field goal to Shrewsbury. Kimber passed for 100 yards or more in nine games and threw for four touchdowns in a win over St. Bernard’s. Kimber, a standout basketball player for the Red Raiders, has been named to all-star teams for the past three years in football and two seasons in basketball. Kimber, who is undecided on where to attend college, calls this year’s comeback win over St. John’s as his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Jerry and Eileen Kimber of Fitchburg. T he 6-foot, 155-pound Martinez finished second in receiving in Central Mass, catching 44 passes for 957 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Pioneers. He averaged 21.8 yards per catch and was named to the Division 2 West all-star team. Last year as a sophomore, Martinez was also second in Central Mass. receiving, catching 30 passes for 673 yards and 10 touchdowns and was named to the league all-star team. Martinez was a SWCL West all-star last winter in basketball. Only a junior, Martinez has yet to think about college plans but hopes to become a police officer after he graduates. Martinez enjoys listening to music and hanging out with friends and family in his spare time. A football starter since freshman year for Frank Koumanelis’s team, Martinez feels the best memories are coming for Southbridge, as he and fellow Super Teamer Tyler Ramsey hope to make the Pioneers a team to watch next fall. He is the son of Luz M. Pietri of Southbridge. T Kyle Salisbury John Tozer Ryan Wheeler Leominster High Senior, Offensive Line Holy Name High Senior, Offensive Line Assabet Valley Regional Senior, Offensive Line T he 6-foot-4, 235-pound Salisbury is a three-year varsity starter for coach John Dubzinski’s Blue Devils. His blocking resume includes clearing paths for a horde of 1,000-yard Leominster rushers, including Adam Cordio, Anthony Bizzotto, Jonathan Hernandez and this year’s duo of Alex Rivera and Alex Medina, who combined for more than 1,500 rushing yards. This season, Leominster came on late and took a series of must-win games as the Blue Devils captured Division 1 North and defeated Holy Name in the playoffs before falling to Longmeadow for the third consecutive season. Salisbury played baseball as a freshman, but switched to volleyball as a sophomore and was named the offensive MVP that season and team MVP. He enjoys hunting, paintball and pickup sports in his spare time. Undecided on where to attend college, Salisbury hopes to get an engineering degree after graduating. He is the son of Jon and Lavina Salisbury of Leominster. DIVISION 1 Orlando Anderson, Fitchburg John Andreoli, St. John’s Cam Brigham, Wachusett Matt Fraticelli, Fitchburg George Jordan, Marlboro Michael Okayka, Shrewsbury T arter completed a spectacular season for the Panthers, earning the Division 1 East’s League MVP honors after finishing third in Central Mass. with 1,934 yards and 19 touchdowns while completing 127 of 229 passes. Carter earned three MVP awards for his performance in a Thanksgiving Day win over Hudson, as the co-captain accounted for six TDs — three throwing and three rushing — while racking up 155 yards rushing and 259 yards passing as the Panthers rolled to a 42-28 victory. He is also a basketball standout for the Panthers. Undecided on a college choice, Carter hopes to play football when he gets there. Among Carter’s highlights this year was a last-minute touchdown strike to Lane Garvey to push the Panthers past Algonquin, 27-26, in what he considers his most memorable sports moment. Carter also orchestrated another last-minute comeback the following week against Burncoat. He is the son of Steve and Teresa Carter of Marlboro. T he only returning Super Teamer, the 6-foot-3, 300-pound Tozer has been a rock at left tackle for Mike Pucko’s Naps, as for the third consecutive year Holy Name reached the postseason. Tozer flourished in the double-wing offense and provided key blocks for many notable running backs, including Emil Igwenagu, Wally Derosier and Dominique Price as a junior and Kevin Greene, Eric Agyeman, Billy Derosier and Elizio Marchezi this year as the unit neared 3,000 yards on the ground. Tozer was named to the Division 2 all-star team last year and the Division 1 East all-star team this year. While he is undecided on where to attend college, he hopes to become a successful business owner after he graduates. Tozer has played lacrosse for the last three years at Holy Name. Winning Holy Name’s first Super Bowl in 2005 — a 37-12 win over Wahconah — was his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Judy and Mark Tozer of Worcester. DIVISION 2 Dustin Greene, Nashoba Joe O’Loughlin, Nashoba Tijean Pluverge, Doherty Matt Whitney, Leominster Evan Wheeler, St. John’s Jawad Yatim, Shrewsbury Eric Brigham, Shepherd Hill Jesse Bond, Bartlett Matt Jurczyk, Quabbin Willy Kempton, Nipmuc Nick Kiritsis, Bartlett Raheem Lewis, Millbury he 6-foot-1, 200-pound Patterson emerged as one of the more dominant running backs in Central Mass. this year and helped the Chieftains to a share of the Division 1 West title. Patterson was named the Nashoba’s team MVP as well as the Offensive MVP for the Division 1 West. He finished fourth in rushing in Central Mass. with a school-record 1,405 yards and 14 touchdowns on 193 carries. As a freshman, Patterson earned offensive MVP honors and took home Rookie of the Year honors for the Chieftains as a sophomore. On Thanksgiving against North Middlesex, Patterson sealed the school rushing record with 163 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries to help Nashoba to a 28-6 win. Patterson helped the Chieftains and returning coach Ken Tucker to a 7-4 mark as Nashoba’s offense racked up 248 points. Patterson is also a standout lacrosse player for Nashoba. He is the son of Frank and Susan Patterson of Bolton. T he 5-foot-9, 158-pound Wheeler helped the Aztecs to the Division 3 East playoffs as Assabet finished 10-2 but fell to eventual Super Bowl champion Valley Tech in the postseason. Wheeler was named the Division 3 East’s Defensive MVP and earned a spot on the Colonial Athletic League all-star team for the past three years. A four-year varsity starter for Rob McCann, Wheeler recorded more than 100 tackles in two seasons. Wheeler was a big reason the Aztecs were able to score 365 points while giving up just 135 this year. On offense, Wheeler paved the way for 1,000-yard back David Parker as well as James Mahoney (744 yards), Justin Flanigan (642 yards) and Nick Johnson (421 yards). Undecided on where to attend college, Wheeler enjoys dirtbiking and working on Chevys in his spare time. He is the son of Chip and Lisa Wheeler of Berlin. Alex Alcala Nick Bellerose Tyler Bennett Leominster High Senior, Linebacker Bartlett High Senior, Linebacker Northbridge High Senior, Defensive Back T he 5-foot-9, 183-pound captain was the Co-Defensive MVP of Division 1 North for 9-3 Leominster. The Blue Devils have won three consecutive league titles with Alcala in the program. Unfortunately, Leominster had to go up against Western Mass. powerhouse Longmeadow the past three years, and the Lancers won each time, extending their winning streak to 37. A four-year member of coach John Dubzinski’s Blue Devils, Alcala lists beating Fitchburg with his fellow seniors all four years as his most memorable sports moment. He has been a four-year starter for the Leominster lacrosse team. Although he is undecided about his college plans, Alcala wants to be a doctor. He is the son of Maria Flores of Leominster. T he 5-foot-8, 178-pound fireplug was a force on both sides of the ball for the 9-2 Indians and coach Chris Nasis. This season, Bartlett went 9-2 and beat Southbridge on Thanksgiving for the fourth straight year. In the two Thanksgiving wins before this season, the Indians shut out the Pioneers. Bellerose became the first 1,000-yard rusher for Bartlett in 10 years, finishing with 1,186 yards. He was also a threat to score from anywhere on the field with 13 rushing touchdowns, one receiving and two on kick returns. He enjoys working out and playing Madden in his spare time. Bellerose lists the Indians’ comeback win over Southbridge this year as his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Donna and Brian Bellerose of Webster. The 5-foot-7, 165-pound captain was the Defensive MVP of Division 2 West for the 12-1 Rams. Bennett amassed 766 yards rushing, 525 yards receiving and 94 points, leading Ken LaChapelle’s Northbridge squad to a Division 2A Super Bowl title. In a 21-4 playoff victory over Millbury, he scored all the Rams’ points, including three pointafter kicks. A four-year member of the football team, he set the school record for touchdowns in a game and finished in the top two in career scoring in school history. His brother Brennan is a walk-on guard for the Boston College basketball team. Bennett received the 2007 Wendy’s High School Heisman for Massachusetts. He is the son of Deb and Dean Bennett of Northbridge. Dan Conrad Ryan Cortes Connor Devlin St. Peter-Marian High Senior, Defensive Back St. Peter-Marian High Senior, Linebacker Millbury High Senior, Defensive Line T T T he 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior captain was a force in the Guardians’ secondary for coach Justin Ball. He was named the Homecoming MVP and the Hazelhurst Award winner this season. Conrad was the leading rusher for the 5-5 Guardians with 598 yards and six scores. He added 145 yards receiving and another touchdown. Conrad comes from an athletic family which includes grandfather Joseph Sharry, father Shawn Conrad and cousin Matt Lynch. He is undecided about where he wants to attend college but wants to continue his football career. He is the son of Christine and Shawn Conrad of Holden. he 5-foot-8, 195-pound senior captain was the Defensive MVP for Division 1 West. Cortes started at linebacker and fullback for coach Justin Ball’s Guardians, who finished 5-5 this season. He ran for 597 yards and six touchdowns during 2007. In SPM’s Thanksgiving loss to St. John’s, Cortes drove forward for a 1-yard TD run to give his team a 6-0 lead in the first quarter. As a sophomore, Cortes was named the Joseph Scavone Homecoming MVP. He enjoys working out and customizing cars in his spare time. Cortes is undecided about where he wants to attend college, but is looking to enter the field of law enforcement. He is the son of Darlene and Jennithan Cortes of Worcester. he 6-foot-2, 220-pound captain was a force from the end and nose tackle positions and was named the Division 2 East Defensive MVP. A four-year player for the 8-4 Woolies, he also started at right tackle for coach Dave Palazzi. He was in on 10 tackles in Millbury’s Thanksgiving win over Grafton. Devlin received the Alumni Award and carries a 3.0 grade point average. He enjoys weightlifting and skateboarding in his free time. Devlin’s mother was a state swimming champion at Easthampton in 1980. Devlin lists causing a fumble that keyed a win over Nipmuc and put Millbury into the playoffs as his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Laura Devlin and Eric LeClaire of Millbury. Nick DiAntonio Shawn Loiseau Eliezio Marchezi Milford High Senior, Linebacker Shrewsbury High Senior, Linebacker Holy Name High Senior, Linebacker T he 5-foot-8, 195-pound captain was the Defensive MVP for Division 1 East. DiAntonio finished the season with 133 tackles, three sacks and an interception for coach John Dagnese. A T&G Division 1 all-star in 2006, he finished his career with 451 tackles in 46 starts. DiAntonio was the Division 1A Defensive MVP in 2006 during the Scarlet Hawks’ Super Bowl-championship season. A four-year member of the football and wrestling teams, DiAntonio finished third in the state and New England during the 2006-07 wrestling season. He lists the 2006 Super Bowl victory and placing third in the New England wrestling tournament as his most memorable sports moments. He is the son of Mary and Jay DiAntonio of Milford. T he 6-foot-1, 220-pound captain led the Colonials to a memorable 13-0 season and a Division 1A Super Bowl victory over Westfield. Loiseau established a single-season record for total tackles with 136 for coach Terry Walles’ Colonials. Loiseau earned Homecoming Defensive MVP and Thanksgiving MVP in 2007 and Homecoming and Thanksgiving MVP in 2006. He batted down a pass as time expired to secure Shrewsbury’s 24-21 victory over Fitchburg in the first round of the playoffs. Offensively, he played fullback and ran for 307 yards and five touchdowns. Of course, he lists the 2007 Super Bowl victory as his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Denise and Paul Loiseau of Shrewsbury. T Colin O’Rourke Tyler Ramsey Craig Shippee-Winfield St. John’s High Junior, Defensive Back Southbridge High Junior, Defensive Back South High Senior, Defensive Line T he 5-foot-11, 168-pound cornerback was named the Co-Defensive MVP of Division 1 North. O’Rourke is a three-year member of coach John Andreoli’s 7-4 Pioneers. He had a key interception and a touchdown catch in a 27-14 win over Leominster in November. Also a member of the St. John’s lacrosse team, he was a Telegram & Gazette Super Teamer last spring. O’Rourke was the second-leading scorer in the Central Mass. A League with 53 goals and 37 assists as the Pioneers went 17-2, 10-0 in the league. Winning the 2004 New England Pop Warner championship with the Worcester Vikings is his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Pamela and Avis O’Rourke. DIVISION 1 Eric Agyeman, Holy Name Scott Brady, Westboro Sean Gaffney, St. Peter-Marian Chris Daigneault, Leominster Shane Donnelly, St. Bernard’s Matt Goguen, Oakmont T he 5-foot-11, 190-pound Ramsey is regarded as one of the top two-way players in Central Mass., leading Southbridge at quarterback and safety. Ramsey was hampered by a hand injury during the year and proved to be a standout running back for the Pioneers as well. Ramsey threw for 1,083 yards and 14 touchdowns while completing 68 of 103 passes. He also gained 699 yards and seven touchdowns on 69 carries on the ground. Ramsey was named to the Division 2 West all-star team this year and was a Division 2 all-star for the Telegram & Gazette last year. Ramsey is also a two-time SWCL all-star for Southbridge and is also a three-year varsity baseball standout for the Pioneers. As a sophomore, Ramsey scored a fourth-quarter touchdown and then found Josh Ramsey on a two-point conversion pass to give Southbridge a 16-15 win over Tantasqua, which was his most memorable sports moment. He is the son of Mike and Kathryn Ritter of Southbridge. Kwame Akoto, North Stephen Albertelli, Uxbridge Colby Bilodeau, Tantasqua Chad Duncan, Auburn Brandon Hampton, South Paul Hanley, Leicester T he 6-foot-1, 245-pound wrecking ball wreaked havoc on opponents from both sides of the line of scrimmage. On defense, Shippee-Winfield could not be blocked one-on-one. His speed and strength led to many tackles for loss and sacks. On offense, he led the Colonels with 1,292 yards rushing and 10 touchdowns, averaging 7.6 yards per carry. A 2005 T&G Division 3 all-star as a sophomore, Shippee-Winfield lists winning the 2006 Division 3A Super Bowl as his most memorable moment. Shippee-Winfield looks to prep a season at Milford Academy in upstate New York and then move on to a Division 1 program. He is the son of Nichole and Christopher Winfield of Worcester. DIVISION 3 DIVISION 2 Tom Kane, Milford Julian McClain, Algonquin John Perron, St. John’s Yarwin Smallwood, Doherty Dylan Smith, Burncoat Paul Tizzano, Shrewsbury he 5-foot-9, 215-pound captain earned the Paul J. Lucey Defensive MVP for the Division 1 West champions. Marchezi is a three-year member of Mike Pucko’s 7-4 Naps and was a part of three championship squads — the 2005 and 2006 Division 2 teams and the 2007 Division 1 West team. This year’s Naps finished 8-4, falling to Leominster in the Division 1 playoffs. Marchezi, who played fullback on offense, enjoys strongman lifting in his spare time. He was part of a backfield that included Eric Agyeman and Kevin Greene, and gained more than 2,000 yards this season. His number frequently was called upon to rush for two-point conversions. Marchezi is undecided about where he will enroll for college but wants to major in business. He is the son of Francisca Nunes. Connor Johnson, Auburn Mike MacDonald, Oxford Michael Mattei, David Prouty Nate Power, Southbridge Korey Tancrell, Nipmuc Justin Tervo, Millbury Connor Anderson, Maynard Andre Aureliano, Valley Tech Mike Cassano, Narragansett Ryan Connor, West Boylston Alex Harrah, Littleton Jason Hatstat, Hudson Shane Keddy, Worcester Tech Jake LaChance, Lunenburg Peter Lekaditis, Lunenburg James Mahoney, Assabet Dan Peete, Clinton Anthony Salame, Narragansett F4 SUNDAY TELEGRAM DECEMBER 30, 2007 Boys’ Soccer The team was selected by the Telegram & Gazette staff with the help of a panel of coaches. Evan Berube Ignacio Cespedes Jair Cintra Northbridge High Senior, Goalkeeper Leominster High Junior, Midfielder North High Senior, Goalkeeper A mong the top goalkeepers in Central Mass., the 6-foot, 170-pound Berube allowed just 12 goals in 18 regular-season games in 2007. His 0.70 goals against average was top in the entire Southern Worcester County League. With Berube in net, the Rams went undefeated against the SWCL East, going 10-0-0 to take the league title. Berube also led Northbridge to a 17-1-0 overall record in the regular season, earning the top seed in the Central Mass. Division 2 Tournament. The Rams got a first-round bye, and Berube shut out Oakmont and Blackstone-Millville to get Northbridge to the final. The team captain, Berube was named his team’s Most Valuable Player and earned all-league, All-Central Mass. and all-state honors. Berube enjoys movies and spending time with his friends in his spare time, and is considering UMass-Lowell, Merrimack, Bryant and New Hampshire for college. He’s the son of Wendy and Steven Berube of Uxbridge. A first-time selection to the Telegram & Gazette Super Team, the 5-foot-7, 145-pound Cespedes helped propel the Blue Devils to a 9-5-4 record in the regular season, including 7-3-2 in Mid-Wach A, where Leominster finished second to Algonquin. The junior midfielder helped Gus Bucher’s squad earn a No. 9 seed in the Division 1 Central Mass. Tournament, where the Blue Devils knocked off North and advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to eventual CMass and state champion St. John’s, 4-1. A three-year member of the varsity team at Leominster, Cespedes amassed 12 goals and 8 assists for 20 points this season, earning him the Mid-Wach A scoring title. A Evan Crocker Tyler Grams Thomas Lee Nipmuc Regional Junior, Forward Algonquin Regional Senior, Midfielder Wachusett Regional Senior, Midfielder T A first-time selection to the Telegram & Gazette Super Team, the 5-foot-11, 165-pound Cintra earned All-Central Mass. honors for the third straight season. The top keeper for coach Tim Hippert, Cintra also earned all-state accolades this season. North went undefeated in the Inter-High this year, amassing a 3-0-3 record to capture the league title. The Polar Bears went 9-5-4 in the regular season, earning the No. 8 seed in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament. Cintra played 161⁄2 regular-season games in net for the Polar Bears, allowing just 20 goals for a 1.21 goals against average — tops in the Inter-High. Cintra is hoping to continue playing soccer at the next level and is considering UMass-Lowell and Merrimack as possible schools. He hopes one day to get the opportunity to play professionally. He’s the son of Luciuane and Freud Moura of Worcester. A he 6-foot, 180-pound Crocker earned his first selection to the Super Team after leading the Warriors to a 20-2 record as they garnered a No. 2 seed and breezed through the Central Mass. Tournament to win the Division 2 title. Nipmuc defeated Northbridge, 4-1, in the final, with Crocker scoring the first goal. He cites that shot as his most memorable moment in sports. Nipmuc was perfect in Dual Valley Conference, compiling a 12-0-0 record to win the league title. Crocker amassed 11 goals and 2 assists during the regular season, the sixth highest point total in the league. After his strong season, Crocker earned All-DVC, All-Central Mass. and all-state honors for the first time this season. He also plays club soccer, competing for FC Puma in the Massachusetts Premier League. Crocker is unsure of his college plans but hopes to continue playing soccer at a Division 1 college next fall. He’s the son of Ellen and Calvin Crocker of Upton. team captain and Mid-Wach A Most Valuable Player, the 5-foot-7, 160-pound Grams led the Tomahawks to a 10-2-6 record in the regular season. With Grams in the central midfield, Algonquin won the league title for the third straight season and earned a No. 3 seed in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament, advancing to the semifinals. An All-Mid-Wach, Central Mass. and state selection, Grams has played three years on varsity for the Tomahawks, who advanced to the state finals in 2005 and 2006 — taking the state title in ’05. Grams is also an accomplished club soccer player, having competed in the Massachusetts Premier League with Puma, Juventus and the Eagles, as well as the Bay State Games. Undecided on his college plans, Grams enjoys playing the guitar and spending his spare time with his friends. Division 1 Tournament, where the Mountaineers defeated Westboro, 3-2, and Shepherd Hill, 1-0, before losing, 2-0, in the semifinals to eventual CMass and state champion St. John’s. A team captain, Lee has played varsity at Wachusett for four years and has also participated in indoor track for the Mountaineers. Lee’s excellent 2007 campaign earned him Mid-Wach and Central Mass. all-star honors, and he was also named all-state. An accomplished club player, Lee was a teammate of fellow Super Teamer Maarten van Ess on the Juventus team that won the Massachusetts Premier League state title this spring — which he cites as his most memorable moment in sports. Josh Lyvers Flavio Pereira Andrew Powell Bromfield School Senior, Forward Marlboro High Senior, Forward St. John’s High Senior, Midfielder A repeat selection to the Super Team, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound Lyvers scored the winning goal in overtime in the Division 3 state final against Lynnfield to give the Trojans their second state title in three years — a feat Lyvers lists as his most memorable moment in sports. The team captain, Lyvers led Bromfield to the Mid-Wach C title with a 5-1-2 record. The Trojans were 14-2-2 overall to earn the No. 2 seed in the CMass tourney, where they racked up three straights shutouts to take the title. The league MVP, Lyvers amassed 17 goals and 12 assists in the regular season, earning All-Central Mass. and all-state honors for the second straight year. Lyvers was also selected All-New England this year. In addition to soccer, Lyvers has played four years of varsity basketball for the Trojans and is the team captain this winter. Lyvers is undecided about his college plans but hopes to become a surgeon. He’s the son of Nina and Mark Lyvers of Harvard. A Mid-Wach B and state all-star, the 5-foot-5, 135-pound Pereira earned his first Super Team selection after teaming with fellow Super Teamer Maarten van Ess to take lead Marlboro to the Central Mass. Division 1 final. The Panthers went 14-4-3 this season and went undefeated in league play, compiling a 6-0-2 record to win the Mid-Wach B title. Marlboro players occupied the top three spots in league scoring, led by Pereira’s 20 goals and 6 assists for 26 points, and the top scorer on Steve Bishop’s high-powered squad plans to continue playing soccer after high school. He hopes one day to play professionally. Pereira has played two seasons on varsity and fondly remembers the Panthers’ penalty kick win over Algonquin in the CMass semifinals this year. Another of his greatest memories is beating St. John’s twice in 2006. Pereira is undecided about his college plans. He’s the son of Amelia Almeida of Marlboro. A Nicholas Prunier Chris Stoker Maarten van Ess Douglas High Junior, Forward St. John’s High Senior, Midfielder Marlboro High Senior, Midfielder A repeat selection to the Super Team, the 5-foot-61⁄2, 140-pound junior amassed 23 goals, 13 assists and 36 points in the regular season while he led the Tigers to a 11-4-3 record. Prunier now has more than 100 points in his career and still has all next season to look forward to. He cites passing the century mark as his most memorable moment in sports. Behind Prunier’s scoring, Douglas earned a No. 5 seed in the Central Mass. Division 3 Tournament, where the Tigers lost in the semifinals. The Dual Valley Conference’s top scorer in 2007, Prunier earned his third straight scoring title and was named the league’s Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. A three-time league and Central Mass. all-star, Prunier earned all-state honors for the second time this year. The team captain, Prunier will be looking for another strong season next fall as he considers colleges. He’s interested in Boston University, Boston College, Connecticut and Notre Dame — all top soccer programs. He’s the son of Christine Prunier of Douglas. DIVISION 1 Chris Chenelle, Groton-Dunstable Bryant Craft, St. Peter-Marian George Lamptey, North Enco Lika, Doherty Charlie Long, St. John’s Brendan McGill, Algonquin A teammate of fellow Super Teamer Andrew Powell on the Juventus and St. John’s teams in 2007, the 5-foot-10, 150-pound Stoker captained the teams to the Massachusetts Premier League and MIAA Division 1 state championships, respectively. Stoker cites winning these titles as his most memorable moment in sports. Stoker was also named Most Valuable Player of the Central Mass. Tournament. Stoker amassed 8 goals and 13 assists in the regular season while leading St. John’s to an 18-1-1 record overall and 4-0-0 in the Central Mass. Conference. An all-state selection in 2007, Stoker has played varsity for the Pioneers all four seasons. In addition to St. John’s and Juventus, he’s also the captain for the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program. With his high school career over, in the fall Stoker is headed to Providence College, which has been awarded a partial athletic scholarship to continue playing soccer. He would like one day to play professionally and possibly coach. He’s the son of Regina and Mark Stoker of Holden. Chris Blessing, Valley Tech John Burke, Oxford Steve DeOliveira, Millbury Dana Deveaux, Assabet Valley Nick Gontijo, Hudson Jason Gove, Northbridge T he leading set-up man in MidWach B with 13 assists in the regular season, the 6-foot-4, 165-pound van Ess helped lead the Panthers to a 14-4-3 record this year, earning them the No. 2 seed in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament, where they advanced to the final before losing to eventual state champ St. John’s, 2-1. With van Ess as captain, Marlboro also went undefeated in league play, capturing the Mid-Wach B title with a record of 6-0-2. In addition to his assists, van Ess scored 10 goals, giving him 23 points this season — second only to his teammate Flavio Pereira in the league. A repeat selection for the Super Team, van Ess earned MVP of the league this year and also won All-New England honors and a second straight NSCAA Coaches’ Award. Van Ess also plays club soccer in the Massachusetts Premier League and was part of Juventus’ 5-0 state title win over the Boston Bolts this spring — a feat he cites as his favorite moment in sports. Van Ess will continue his soccer career at Dartmouth next fall. He’s the son of Erna and Jim van Ess of Marlboro. The Pioneers went on to capture the state title with a penalty-kick win over Framingham. It was the second state title of the year for Powell, who was a member of the Juventus team that beat the Boston Bolts for the Massachusetts Premier League title, a duo he cites as his greatest sports moment. An All-America selection for soccer, Powell also competes in indoor and outdoor track for the Pioneers and is planning to study economics or business management in college. Samantha Abro Lindsey Burke Sarah Clark Lindsey Cobb Algonquin Regional Junior, Midfielder/Forward Bromfield School Senior, Goalkeeper Nipmuc Regional Senior, Center Midfielder St. Peter-Marian High Senior, Sweeper he Tomahawks’ scoring machine landed a spot on the Super Team after sparking a drive to the Central Mass. Division 1 final under coach Kim Miller. After scoring nine goals during the regular season, Abro nettedfive more in four postseason matches, with game-winners in each of Algonquin’s three victories, two in overtime. She scored the only goal in the first-round win over Holy Name, both Tomahawk goals in an OT win over top-seeded Shepherd Hill and the sudden-death score in the 2-1 verdict over Westboro in the semifinals. For the past two seasons, she reaped All-Mid-Wach A, All-Central. Mass and All-State honors, and she was team MVP as a sophomore. As a freshman, she was an all-league athlete in spring track. Abro, who enjoys drawing, would like to pursue a career in physical therapy. She is the daughter of Darlene and Ken Abro of Northboro. T T he 5-foot-5 Clark enjoyed quite a run as one of the finest to play soccer for the Warriors. After leading the Dual Valley Conference in scoring this past fall, the captain was selected all-league, All-Central Mass. and all-state under coach Howard Cohen. She was the leading scorer in the DVC with 17 goals and 13 assists, and she tallied three times in Nipmuc’s 5-0 victory over David Prouty in the Central Mass. Division 2 quarterfinals. Playing on Division 3 state title teams in 2005 and 2006 are Sarah’s most memorable sports moments. In her sophomore year, the Warriors captured the DVC title before winning the first state crown. She played basketball as a junior, and enjoys skiing and shopping in her spare time. Undecided on a college choice, Sarah would like to major in business or marketing. She is the daughter of Charlotte and Ted Clark of Upton. T T his 5-foot-10 multi-talented athlete anchored the Trojans’ journey to their first Central Mass. Division 3 championship and state final. She posted a 0.80 goals against average for the season and didn’t allow a goal during the CMass Tournament, posting four shutouts as a captain for coach Gary Wenger. She nearly pulled off a state title for Bromfield, turning aside 15 shots in a 3-2 loss to Newburyport in the final, as the Trojans led, 2-1, entering the last eight minutes because of her performance. Burke started the basketball season 76 points short of 1,000 for her career, and the forward has already surpassed 1,000 rebounds. In the spring, she plays for the Bromfield baseball team. Her father played football on a national club champion at Worcester State. Burke, who is undecided on a college choice, also likes music, cooking and painting, and would like to own a restaurant someday. She is the daughter of Randi and Tom Burke of Harvard. he 5-foot-4 Cobb completes an impressive high school career with her selection to the Super Team. This season, Cobb was the leader of a stingy SPM defense, one that captured the No. 3 seed in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament. The Guardians lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Marlboro on a goal with 3 seconds left in regulation. Cobb was a starter for St.Peter-Marian in each of the last four years, and was a three-year All-Central Mass. Conference selection. As a freshman, St. Peter-Marian advanced to the Division 1 Central Mass. final. Under coach Paul Keating, she served as captain this past season and earned All-State honors. She is in her third season playing varsity basketball at SPM and plans to compete in her fourth year of track this spring. As for next year, Cobb is undecided but would like to play soccer in college. She is the daughter of Janet and Dan Cobb of Shrewsbury. Kelly Coonan Amy Cramer Nicola D’Errico Wachusett Regional High Senior, Defender Marlboro High Senior, Forward/Center Midfielder Shrewsbury High Senior, Forward or the 5-foot-6 Coonan, there’s no place like home — she lists as her most memorable sports moment being on the first team to play and win on the Mountaineers’ new turf field. Coonan finished the season with five goals and two assists. She scored off Marlboro in Wachusett’s regular-season finale, a 1-1 tie. Coonan starred in soccer for four seasons at Wachusett, and competed for the indoor track team for her freshman through junior years. As captain for coach Jen Solin’s squad this season, she collected Mid-Wach A and All-State honors. Last year, Coonan was presented with the Doug Flutie Sportsmanship Summit Award. She enjoys being with friends, running and working. The daughter of Kathleen and Michael Coonan of Holden, she hopes to graduate from college with a nursing degree and work in a hospital. n four of her five varsity seasons, Cramer led the Panthers in scoring, and she’ll graduate ninth on the star-studded Marlboro all-time scoring scroll. During the regular season, she had seven goals and seven assists for 14 points, good for second in Mid-Wach B. As a junior, she recovered from a torn ACL and returned for the Central Mass. Tournament. In that tourney, her goal with 1:40 left gave the Panthers a 4-3 victory over Nashoba in a Division 1 semifinal. This year, she was all-league, all-state and captain for coach Doug Freeman’s team. During her freshman and sophomore years, Cramer ran indoor and outdoor track, qualifying for state meet competition as a middle-distance specialist. Her sister Samantha played soccer at Tulane and brother Ben played at Bryant. She is the daughter of Mary-Jane and Frans Cramer of Marlboro. ’Errico was selected to the Super Team after providing the scoring punch needed for the Colonials to capture the Central Mass. Division 1 crown and a berth in the state title match with fellow Super Teamer Maura Fox and under coach Chip DelPrete. During the regular season, D’Errico led Mid-Wach A in scoring (13 goals, 10 assists). She had two goals in a CMass quarterfinal win over Wachusett and also scored in the Colonials’ semifinal victory over Marlboro. She finished with more than 100 career points. D’Errico served as captain this past fall and earned her third selection to the Mid-Wach A all-star team. Her twin sister Gianna played alongside at Shrewsbury, does the same with the Boston Renegades and will join her at the College of Saint Rose in Albany next fall. Nicola has helped the Renegades to three national tournaments and was named to the Super-Y Nationals first team. She is the daughter of Laurie and Matthew D’Errico of Shrewsbury. Maura Fox Heather Gosnell Annette Kristiansen Shrewsbury High Junior, Center Midfielder Sutton High Senior, Defender Westboro High Senior, Center Midfielder F ox’s outstanding play throughout the season sparked the Colonials on their drive to the Central Mass. Division 1 championship and state final. Under coach Chip DelPrete, she collected team and Mid-Wach A Most Valuable Player honors and was tabbed the top player in the region by the Central Mass. Soccer Coaches Association. She was third in Mid-Wach A in scoring (9 goals, 6 assists). All-state and All-New England kudos came her way, as did Adidas All-America honors, and she has been elected captain for next season. As a sophomore, she was a league and Central Mass. all-star while helping Shrewsbury to the district final. She has honed her skills for Black Watch in Rhode Island (Super-Y League) and the Fuller Hamlets (Premier League). Her brother Brendan played lacrosse at St. John’s from 2004-07. She is the daughter of Marjorie and Brian Fox. T he 5-foot-7 Gosnell takes great pride in being a defender, one who has helped lead the Suzies to continued success. She was coach Dan Delongchamps’ team MVP this past season, her second as Sutton’s captain and completing an impressive fiveyear varsity career. After winning Dual Valley Conference MVP honors last year as a fullback, Gosnell played center half, sweeper and even a little forward while leading the Suzies to the CMass Division 3 final, where they knocked off league rival Hopedale in overtime in the semis. Scoring a goal off a header in a game this season and winning a state championship in 2004 she considers her most memorable sports moments. As a star for the Boston Renegades, Gosnell was selected for ODP camp in 2004, 2006 and 2007. The daughter of Sue and Jim Gosnell of Sutton would like to attend Fitchburg State or Franklin Pierce and pursue a career in accounting. H er selection to the Super Team highlights a star-studded athletic career for the Rangers, as she has turned in impressive performances in three sports. As a freshman, Kristiansen played third singles on Westboro’s tennis team that won the Central Mass. Division 1 title and advanced to the state final. Last winter, she was a Mid-Wach B and T&G Division 1 all-star while helping the Rangers’ basketball team to a 20-0 regular season. And on the soccer pitch this past season, the 5-foot-9 Kristiansen served as captain under coach Paul Mumby. She was fourth in the league in scoring (8 goals, 3 assists) during the regular season, and led the Rangers to the Division 1 semifinals. She is a three-time All-Central Mass. selection and a two-time all-state pick. Undecided on her college choice, she is the daughter of Sandra and Henning Kristiansen of Westboro. Emily Mongeau Jessica Peacock Erin Ronan Westboro High Senior, Defender Hopedale High Senior, Sweeper Millbury High Sophomore, Goalkeeper F T his is the third appearance on a Super Team for the 5-foot-8 Mongeau, who anchored the defense for Westboro en route to the Mid-Wach B championship (at 5-0-3) and the Central Mass. Division 1 semifinals. She is joined on the team by classmate Annette Kristiansen, who is also a basketball teammate. Her other two Super Team selections have come in lacrosse. As a junior center, she led all of Central Mass. in scoring this year, with 53 goals and 24 assists. As a point guard, she has the Rangers aiming to return to the CMass Division 1 final like last year, when they went undefeated during the regular season. Mongeau has played at the varsity level each season of her high school career. Her sister, Jenny, played lacrosse at Assumption, earning All-America status as a junior in 2005. DIVISION 1 Alex Barber, Hudson Dana Clowes, Algonquin Ashlyn Derosier, Shrewsbury Samantha Friday, Algonquin Lynn Goretti, St. Peter-Marian Erin Kinback, Shrewsbury I F or the second straight season, the 5-foot-10 Peacock garnered team MVP honors, and she has collected similar accolades with Blue Raider basketball and softball teams. As a soccer captain this year, she led Hopedale to a 16-2-2 mark, the Dual Valley Conference championship and the Central Mass. Division 3 semifinals. She scored twice in the Blue Raiders’ 5-0 victory over West Boylston in a CMass quarterfinal. She was also a key sophomore performer in the Raiders’ run to the district championship in 2005. Peacock was a Super Team performer in basketball last year, averaging 23.6 points per game while leading the Blue Raiders to an undefeated Dual Valley Conference run and the CMass Division 3 final. She scored her 1,000th point last season and was named DVC MVP. Peacock, who will attend Merrimack College to play soccer next fall, is the daughter of Beth and Jim Peacock of Hopedale. Her goalkeeping backboned Millbury’s march to its first Central Mass. Division 2 title. In the district final, she shut out SWCL East rival Auburn through regulation and overtimes and did the same in penalty kicks, as the Woolies prevailed, 2-0, in PKs — a course of events Ronan considers her most memorable in sports. The best may be yet to come for Ronan and her young team. She earned all-league and all-state honors this past fall under coach Andy Burnett, and she’s playing varsity basketball this winter after a JV season as a freshman. Her mother was a talented figure skater who competed at the national level. Her goal for two years down the road is to play soccer while studying at a Division 1 institution and later to become an anesthesiologist. Betschart, a co-captain and Dual Valley Conference all-star, ran to a fourthplace finish in 15:30 at the Central Mass. Championships, and finished 20th in 15:39 in the state meet, both at Gardner Municipal Golf Course. Hopedale edged Bishop Feehan, 107-132, for the state title. Betschart, who also competes in basketball and track and field, lists winning the states in 2005 and 2007 as his most memorable sports moments. He also wants to make it to states all four years of high school and win the state team title next season. He is the son of Anne and Doug Betschart of Hopedale. T he 6-foot-3 Brunelle finished seventh at the Central Mass. Division 1 meet in Gardner with a time of 15:11.2. He followed that race with a 27th-place finish at the state meet on the same course. The Panthers’ MVP, Brunelle was also named a Mid-Wach B all-star the past two years and placed third at the league meet in Marlboro this fall. He owns course records at Quaboag, Marlboro and Quabbin. Brunelle also participates in indoor and outdoor track, and was named the Panthers’ Most Improved Player last spring and MVP last winter after playing soccer for two years. Brunelle enjoys hunting and going to the beach in his spare time, and while he has not made a college decision yet, he is thinking about majoring in engineering. He is the son of Michael and Donna Brunelle of Oakham. T he 6-foot-1, 145-pound Bush led the Rangers to a fourth-place team finish at the Division 1 Central Mass. Championships at Gardner Municipal Golf Course with a thirdplace individual effort, behind only Nashoba’s Anthony Raduazo and North Middlesex’s Dave Hausherr, in a time of 14:55. Bush later went on to finish 37th in 15:22 in the state meet. Under coach Rick Hebert, Bush was fourth at the Coaches Invitational, ninth in the league and 17th at the Bay State Invitational. Last year in indoor track, Bush was the state’s No. 1 freshman in the 2 mile. In outdoor track, Bush was the league champion in the mile and a part of the 4x400 relay champion — his most memorable sports moments — and finished fourth in the mile at the district meet. T Dave Hausherr Tim Mazeika Arleigh McRae Patrick Mullarkey North Middlesex Regional Senior Millbury High Junior Whitinsville Christian Sophomore Nipmuc Regional Junior he 5-foot-9, 150-pound Hausherr returns to the T&G Super Team in his senior season after another tremendous campaign. Hausherr, a three-time team MVP and three-time captain who competes in cross country, indoor and outdoor track, fell just shy of defending his crown at the Division 1 Central Mass. championships at Gardner Municipal Golf Course with a second-place finish in 14:49, trailing only Nashoba’s Anthony Raduazo. At the state meet, Hausherr posted a top-10 time of 14:40 for seventh overall. Coached by Ed Pancoast, Hausherr won the district title last year in 14:46 over the 2.9-mile Gardner course, and placed 13th in the state meet at Northfield Mountain. He is the son of Nancy and Steven Hausherr of Townsend. T he 5-foot-10, 120-pound Mazeika was the ace of the Woolies’ squad and displayed his talents on the biggest stages. In the Division 2 Central Mass. championships at Gardner Municipal Golf Course, he ran a 15:30 over the 2.9-mile course to snag a top-five finish, and came back a week later in Gardner to run a 15:32, which placed him 15th in the state championships. Mazeika, who also runs indoor and outdoor track, owes much of his running success to his father, John, a former high school cross country runner. Mazeika has his eye on winning the districts and placing in the top five at the states next season. He’s most proud of breaking 15 minutes for the first time in a cross country race. Mazeika is the son of Elizabeth and John Mazeika of Millbury. he 5-foot-7, 105-pound Flaton makes his first appearance on the T&G Super Team after a 15:37, seventh-place finish in the Division 2 race at the Central Mass. Championships at Gardner Municipal Golf Course. Flaton came back at the state championships and ran a 15:41 for a 21st-place finish. Flaton, coached by Kevin Foster, placed second at the Mid-Wach C championships in 14:23, behind only Hudson’s Luke Doherty, over the 2.7-mile course at Tahanto, helping the Trojans finish second as a team. As a freshman, Flaton claimed the top prize in the Mid-Wach C league meet in 14:39. He lists gliding, backpacking and snowboarding as his hobbies. Flaton is the son of Noelle and Ken Flaton of Harvard. he 5-foot-11, 150-pound McRae returns to the T&G Super Team for the season straight season. McRae, who admits to being inspired by coach Chris Vander Baan, tore up the Gardner Municipal Golf Course in 15:13, 7 seconds ahead of Hopedale’s Colin Ogilvie, to capture the Division 2 title at the Central Mass. championships, a feat he lists as his most memorable sports moment. McRae also was a key in the Crusaders’ secondplace team finish in the Central Mass. championships. He went on to place 13th in 15:30 at the state meet in Gardner. McRae is a Dual Valley Conference all-star and played varsity baseball last spring. Last fall, McRae represented David Prouty as a home-schooled student. He is the son of Claire and John McRae of East Brookfield. T he 5-foot-7, 117-pound Mullarkey bolted to a third-place finish in 15:23 at the Division 2 Central Mass. championships at Gardner Municipal Golf Course, an accomplishment he ranks as his most memorable sports moment. In the state meet, also in Gardner, Mullarkey had a top-20 finish (19th) with a time of 15:38. Other top accomplishments for Mullarkey this year included fourth at the Wachusett Invitational and seventh in the Dual Valley Conference meet. Mullarkey, who also runs track in the winter and spring, enjoys ping-pong, soccer and being with friends and family. Mullarkey’s father was a standout cross country/track athlete at South Catholic High School in Connecticut. He is the son of Ed and Deb Mullarkey of Mendon. T T Colin Ogilvie Stephen M. Polito Anthony Raduazo Hopedale High Senior Doherty High Senior Nashoba Regional Senior T he 5-foot-10, 135-pound Ogilvie, a three-time T&G Super Teamer, capped off his senior cross country season in style. He finished second to Whitinsville Christian’s Arleigh McRae in the Central Mass. Division 2 championships with a time of 15:21 and ran a 15:10 to place fifth at the state meet at the Gardner Municipal Golf Course, all while helping the Blue Raiders capture the Division 2 Central Mass. and state titles. Ogilvie lists winning the state team title in 2005 with his brother Thompson as one of his most memorable sports moments. Ogilvie, who will attend Bowdoin College in the fall, won the New Balance Invitational in Warwick, R.I. He is the son of Marillee and Davis Ogilvie of Hopedale. T he 5-foot-5, 120-pound captain, coached by Dan Rushton, made quite an impact for the Highlanders this season. Polito went toe to toe with the best in Central Mass. and posted a solid sixthplace finish in the Division 1 Central Mass. championships at Gardner Municipal Golf Course. He ran a smooth 15:10 to advance to the state meet, also held in Gardner. At the states, Polito covered the 2.9-mile course in 15:01, good for 14th. Polito’s most memorable sports moment is helping the Highlanders defeat the St. John’s 4x800 relay team at the Class A meet in his sophomore campaign. His one main goal is to set the school record in the 2 mile. He is the son of Karen and Martin Polito of Worcester. T Zack Sylvestre Cameron Tieuli Zachary Walsh Gardner High Senior St. John’s High Junior Sutton High Senior T he 6-foot-1, 145-pound Sylvestre battled back from a stress fracture in his left foot to win the Wildcats’ team MVP award, after finishing fourth in 15:02 at his home Gardner Municipal Golf Course at the Division 1 Central Mass. championships. In the state meet, Sylvestre, a captain, came in 17th (15:07). Sylvestre also garnered MVP team honors in cross country as a sophomore and junior, and is a captain of the indoor and outdoor track teams. Last season, Sylvestre was part of the Wildcats’ distance medley relay team that set a state record during the winter season. As a freshman, he was a member of the cross country team that made it to the states for the first time in 20 years. He is the son of Patricia and Charles Sylvestre of Gardner. T he 5-foot-8, 135-pound Tieuli returns to the T&G Super Team for a second straight season after a 15:07, fifth-place finish that helped the Pioneers take second at the Division 1 Central Mass. championships in Gardner. Tieuli, who has been the Pioneers’ No. 1 runner at the district meet the last two years, has a twin brother, Chris, who is also in the top five on the cross country team. His older brother, Matt, was a four-time T&G all-star in cross country and currently runs at the University of Notre Dame. Cameron’s top-five finish in the districts marked the sixth straight year a Tieuli has finished in the top five. Tieuli also enjoys ping-pong and reading Harry Potter books. Cameron is the son of Lisa and Alan Tieuli of Upton. he 5-foot-10, 135-pound Raduazo stunned the field at the Division 1 Central Mass. championships, outlasting defending champion and North Middlesex ace Dave Hausherr, to finish first in 14:41. In the process, the Chieftains claimed their first Division 1 team title and their first Central Mass. title since winning the Division 2 crown 10 years ago — a feat Raduazo lists as his most memorable sports moment. In the state meet, Raduazo, a two-time captain, ran to a fifth-place effort in 14:33, and the team finished third. Raduazo also took home the league championship this season, as the Chieftains finished 12-0. Raduazo’s parents were standout cross country runners in high school and became marathoners. He is the son of Celeste and Rocco Raduazo of Bolton. T he 5-foot-10, 140-pound Walsh, a cross country and indoor track captain, was a Dual Valley Conference all-star and the team MVP for the Sammies this fall. At the Division 2 Central Mass. championships at Gardner Municipal Golf Course, Walsh’s time of 15:35 was good enough to capture sixth place and advance to the states. At the state championships, Walsh finished 38th in 15:57. Walsh’s brother, Bart, was a threetime T&G all-star in cross country. Walsh was a cross country district medalist in the 10th grade. His most memorable sports moment was winning the cross country team district title in 2006. He is the son of Dottie and Bart Walsh of Sutton. Division 1 championship at Gardner Municipal Golf Course with a time of 17 minutes, 49.9 seconds. That was third fastest time by a female Wachusett runner. Carlson finished 17th in the state championships, also at Gardner, in 17:48 — the fourth-best time for freshmen. Her brother, John Carlson, is a varsity soccer player and was named to the boys’ tennis Super Team this past spring. When Carlson is not running, she enjoys reading and writing. She is the daughter of Kathleen Sweeney and Ed Carlson of Princeton. T he 5-foot-7 Chenevert toured the 2.9-mile course at Gardner in 18 minutes, 24.9 seconds to place sixth in the Central Mass. Division 2 meet and make her first Super Team. She was named team MVP for the third straight season. This year, he set the Uxbridge course record (21:07), breaking her 2006 mark of 21:45. Chenevert also broke the Millbury course record, clocking in at 18:57. She is the point guard for the Uxbridge girls’ basketball team. Chenevert is undecided about her college choice, but se wants to become an athletic trainer, an athletic director or a physical education teacher. She is the daughter of Flo and Peter Chenevert of Uxbridge. C onner returns to the T&G Super Team after finishing sixth in the Division 1 championship, covering the 2.9-mile Gardner course in 18:21.8. The Patriots’ cross country captain is playing basketball for her school this winner and will run track in the spring. Her sister, Allison Conner, was a member of the 2006 cross country Super Team. When she is not running or playing basketball, Conner enjoys snowboarding. She lists breaking the 20-minute mark for her home course and qualifying for the state meet three years in a row as her most memorable sports moments. She is the daughter of Candice and Tim Conner of West Townsend. T Stephanie Ellis Jessica Jarrard Emily Jones Maho Kobayashi Gardner High Sophomore Hudson Catholic High Junior Bromfield School Junior Whitinsville Christian Junior he 5-foot-1 Ellis finished third at the Central Mass. Division 1 championships, covering her home course at Gardner in 17 minutes, 42.1 seconds, and was 23rd in the state Division 1 championships (18:00). This marks the second straight season that she has been named Most Valuable Runner at Gardner. Last year, Ellis was her indoor track team’s top scorer and played softball, where she was given the team’s Iron Man Award. Ellis is a part of the Gardner High band and enjoys Irish step dancing in her spare time. Ellis lists helping Gardner qualify for the Division 1 state meet for the first time in more than 30 years as her most memorable sports moment. She is the daughter of Lisa and Michael Ellis of Gardner. T arrard made her first T&G Super Team after finishing third in the Central Mass. Division 2 championship (18 minutes, 9.5 seconds) on Gardner’s 2.9-mile course. This season, she set the course record at Fitchburg’s Coggshall Park (17:08, 2.8 miles) in the Colonial Athletic League meet. She also set HC’s home course record at 16:03. The Green Wave MVP finished 24th at the Division 2 state meet in 18:07. She would like to run in college and someday hopes to coach. Her father lettered 11 times in high school athletics while being selected for several all-star teams in football. She lists running at a 5:54-mile pace in winning the CAL individual title as her most memorable sports moment. She is the daughter of Cathy Fitzgerald and Robert Jarrard of Shrewsbury. he 5-foot-9 Dunn is a repeat member of the Super Team. She placed fifth in the Division 2 championships, finishing the 2.9-mile Gardner course in 18 minutes, 22.1 seconds in helping the Trojans to another district title. Dunn finished 31st at the state championships in Gardner in at 18:21. She was named to the 2007 indoor track Super Team for her first-place finish in the 600 meters (1:41.29). Dunn was also named to the 2006 outdoor track Super Team for a top showing in the 800 meters (2:21.22). She will finish her athletic career at Bromfield on the indoor and outdoor track teams. Dunn’s father was an All-America runner at Drake University. She is the daughter of Beth Haberkorn and Raymond Dunn. he 5-foot-7 Jones makes her eighth T&G Super Team after winning the Division 2 Central Mass. and state titles for the second straight year. She took her third consecutive Central Mass. title when she completed the 2.9-mile Gardner course in 16:56.9. She returned to the same site a week later to claim the state title (16.06). She followed that by finishing second (17:41.2) at the Foot Locker Northeast Regionals in New York and 11th (17:54) at the nationals in San Diego. As a sophomore, Jones also swept the Central Mass. (16:48 at Gardner) and state (18.49 at Northfield Mountain) titles. Jones followed that by finishing ninth at the Footlocker Northeast Regional in New York and 25th at the nationals in San Diego. Jones has also made Super Teams in indoor and outdoor track. She is the daughter of Susan Hunter-Jones and Dan Jones of Harvard. J he 5-foot-4 Kobayashi returns to the T&G Super Team after finishing fourth in the Central Mass. Division 2 meet, completing the 2.9-mile Gardner course in 18:21.3. Kobayashi followed that by placing 35th in the state championships with a time of 18:28. As a sophomore, she placed sixth (18:33.7) in the Central Mass. championships to help the Crusaders to a second-place finish. In her down time, Kobayashi enjoys reading, drawing and printmaking. Kobayashi lists celebrating the end of the 2007 season with a team dinner after the state championship as her most memorable sports moment. T T Micaela Lacombe Liz Lee Molly Porcher Groton-Dunstable Regional Freshman Bromfield School Senior Nashoba Regional Junior T he 5-foot-4 Lacombe makes her debut as a Super Teamer after finishing first in the Central Mass. Division 1 championships, covering the 2.9-mile Gardner course in 17 minutes, 16.6 seconds. She was the top freshman and sixth overall in the state Division 1 championship (17.19) at Gardner. Lacombe’s finish in the Central Mass. meet sent the Crusaders to the states. Lacombe lists having her team make the states for the first time, along with the team participating in the “Jog for Joey” event as her most memorable sports moments. She is the daughter of Kristin and Bob Lacombe of Groton. T he 5-foot-2 Lee captained the Henry Phelan-coached Trojans to a four-peat in the Central Mass. Division 2 championships and a three-peat in the state championships. Lee, who is making her sixth appearance on the Super Team, clocked in at 17:38.5, good for second place in the Central Mass. championships and came in 10th at the state championships at 17:32. She aspires to break a 5-minute mile. Lee lists helping Bromfield win three straight state championships and having four teams in the 2007 state finals (girls’ and boys’ soccer, girls’ and boys’ cross country) as her most memorable sports moments. Lee enjoys snowboarding, playing the guitar and the clarinet, acting and running in her spare time. She is the daughter of Lisa Stanley and Thomas Lee. T Emily Reedich Ali Tyburski Laurie Vinciullo Bromfield School Junior Shepherd Hill Regional Sophomore Hudson High Freshman he 5-foot-8 Reedich is making her debut on the T&G Super Team, having finished seventh in the Central Mass. Division 2 championship by covering the 2.9-mile Gardner course in 18 minutes, 28.9 seconds. Reedich followed that with a 25th-place finish (18:09) in the state championship, also at Gardner. Last season, Reedich finished 12th in the Central Mass. Division 2 meet with a time of 19:08.6. She has been a part of two state championship teams, and lists being part of Bromfield’s third straight state title this season as her most memorable sports moment. When not running, Reedich enjoys basketball, softball and reading. Reedich has also played varsity softball and JV and varsity basketball for the Trojans. She is the daughter of Sue and Doug Reedich of Harvard. T he 5-foot-8 Tyburski is yet another runner making her debut on the Super Team. She finished second in the Central Mass. Division 1 race, covering the 2.9-mile Gardner course in 17 minutes, 39.6 seconds. She followed that with a 22nd-place finish at the state meet, also at Gardner, clocking in at 17:58. Tyburski finished first in the SWCL meet, covering the 2.73-mile course in 16:58.4 seconds to set a course record. She finished first in all 10 league meets this season, and was on the SWCL all-star team. As a freshman, Tyburski finished first in the SWCL meet (17:48.1) and 11th overall (19:14.6) in the Central Mass. meet, making her a state qualifier. She is the daughter of Roberta and George Tyburski of Charlton. T he 5-foot-3 Porcher is making her debut appearance on the Super Team after finishing seventh at the Central Mass. Division 1 championship, covering the 2.9-mile course at Gardner Municipal GC in 18 minutes, 30.0 seconds. She followed that by placing 31st in the state championships (18:16). As a sophomore, she finished 21st in the Central Mass. meet in 19:28.4. When Porcher isn’t running on the trails for Nashoba, she’s on the trails skiing for the Chieftains. She has been on the Nashoba cross country and ski teams for three years. Outside of sports, Porcher enjoys baking. She lists going to states this year for the first time ever as her most memorable moment. Porcher is unsure about her college choice but hopes to pursue a career in education. She is the daughter of Cathy Leonard and Tom Porcher of Stow. he 5-foot-4 Vinciullo is a repeat member of the Super Team, having finished fifth in the Central Mass. Division 1 championship at Gardner, covering the 2.9-mile course in 18 minutes, 10.8 seconds. She finished first in the freshman girls’ race at the Amherst Invitational in a record 19:37. Vinciullo also set records at Marlboro (19:34) and Auburn (19:40). For the second straight year, she finished first in the Division 1 girls’ freshman race at the MSTCA Coaches’ Invitational. This year, Vinciullo clocked in at 12:47.0, and as an eighth-grader, she finished in 12:41.5. Vinciullo lists winning the MSTCA Coaches’ Invitational two consecutive years as her most memorable sports moment. She is the daughter of Kathy Vinciullo of Hudson. Sarah Becque Jennifer Bouckaert Kyla Dickson Danielle Dolan Westboro High Senior, Midfielder Burncoat High Senior, Halfback Quabbin Regional Junior, Midfielder Quaboag Regional Senior, Wing T B ust a junior, Dickson captained coach Shelly Zalneraitis’ team to a 14-4-3 record this year. She returns to the Super Team this year after making the squad last season. She is already a three-time Mid-Wach B field hockey all-star, an honor she has earned twice on the softball diamond as well. Not to be left out in the winter, she competes on the Panthers’ indoor track team, placing fifth in the league in shot put last season. Her brother, Ethan Dickson, won the state wrestling title last year at 152 pounds. In her spare time, Kyla enjoys baking, reading and listening to music. She hopes to one day create workouts for injured athletes to help them heal, along with studying sports psychology and massage therapy. She is the daughter of Pamela and Garth Dickson of Barre. T he 6-foot-1 Becque played on the Rangers’ varsity team for four years and now departs as the school’s all-time leading scorer. A return Super Team member, she comes from a line of family success in the sport as her sister Megan played at Tufts University and sister Jessica played at Sacred Heart. Sarah plans to attend the University of Vermont next fall and pursue a business degree. A captain this year for Westboro, she earned a spot in the Best of 60 Game and was also a member of the silver-medal winning team at the National Futures Championship. Also a four-year player on the Rangers’ lacrosse squad, Becque enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities. She is the daughter of Becky and Scott Becque of Westboro. J ouckaert finished her high school career by captaining coach Meg Curtin’s squad to a 9-6-3 record and the No. 8 seed in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament. She earned MVP honors from the Inter-High and Central Mass. Field Hockey Coaches Association and played in the Best of 60 Game. Not even a divisional all-star last season, Bouckaert made a large jump in her final season to join her first Super Team. She lists playing Notre Dame Academy her junior year as her most memorable sports moment, when the Patriots held their city foe scoreless as part of their intense rivalry. Bouckaert enjoys skiing in her free time. She is the daughter of Melanie Curran and John Bouckaert of Worcester. he 5-foot Dolan was a two-year captain for coach John O’Neill’s squad and helped lead the team to a state championship this year after making the state final her sophomore and junior years. She also parts with the school record for assists in a season (27). A Best of 60 Game selection, Dolan was the second-highest scorer in the state this season. She has also been active on the Bay State Games team, serving as captain this year, winning a bronze medal in 2006 and a gold in 2005. Her most memorable sports moments include making the varsity field hockey team in eighth grade and thus getting a chance to play with her cousin, Lauren Kurr, and playing with her sister, eighth-grader Haylie Dolan, this past season. Abigail Egan Shelby Farland Macey Gaumond Notre Dame Academy Senior, Midfielder Tantasqua Regional Junior, Forward Quaboag Regional Senior, Midfielder T I T he 5-foot-3 Egan captained coach Patty Provost’s Rebels in her senior year, earning all-star honors from the Central Mass. Conference for the second straight season and a spot on the Best of 60 team. A two-time Super Team member on the tennis court, where she is a three-time CMC all-star, this is the first time she has been so honored for her field hockey accomplishments. She has won three state championships in her time with Notre Dame, reaching the pinnacle in tennis as a freshman and sophomore and winning in field hockey as a sophomore as well. In her free time, Egan enjoys reading and spending time with friends. She plans to attend college in the fall, but is undecided on a destination. She is the daughter of Rachel and Jay Egan of Worcester. n just her second varsity season, the 5-foot-7 Farland has already earned a pair of SWCL West all-star nods. This season, she led the offense for coach Jean Glennon’s squad, which went 14-5. An all-around athlete, she also competes on the Warriors’ indoor and outdoor track teams and is serving as a captain this winter. That may just run in the family, though, as her father played football for Tantasqua and WPI. Shelby lists her most memorable sports moment as scoring her first varsity goal as a sophomore. In her spare time, she enjoys playing sports and spending time with her friends and family. She is the daughter of Rick and Karin Farland of Fiskdale. he 5-foot-9 Gaumond leaves Quaboag with numerous school records. A five-year varsity player, she owns marks for career goals (88), assists (61) and points (149). She capped her career with a 49-point season — 33 goals, 16 assists — after a 50-point junior effort that included 33 goals. A two-year captain, Gaumond lists her most memorable sports moments as winning this season’s field hockey state championship and winning the same title in basketball as a sophomore. This is her third Super Team selection to go along with her third straight selection as Division 2 Player of the Year. Gaumond plans on attending Boston University in the fall. She is the daughter of Maryjane and Frank Gaumond of Warren. Kara Mackintire Kate Murphy Katherine Nagengast Shrewsbury High Junior, Defense Notre Dame Academy Senior, Midfielder Westboro High Senior, Goalie J ust a junior, the 5-foot-5 Mackintire led coach Lauren Chenevert’s team as captain to the state final. A repeat Super Teamer, she has now been named a MidWach A all-star, team MVP and defensive player of the year for two years running. This year, she played at the National Futures Championship where her team won a silver medal, an accomplishment she lists as her most memorable in sports. Much of her free time is spent playing field hockey, as she plays on the Cape Ann Coalition team. On that squad, she earned a gold medal at the National Field Hockey Festival. Away from the field, she enjoys shopping and spending time at the beach. She is the daughter of Debbee and Robert Mackintire of Shrewsbury. T he 5-foot-10 Murphy helped the Rebels to a 14-3-3 record and a spot in the semifinals of the Central Mass. Tournament, where they lost to eventual champion Shrewsbury. While serving as a captain, she earned Central Mass. Conference all-star honors for her play this season and played in the Best of 60 Game. Her most memorable sports moment was winning the Central Mass. Tournament as a junior before advancing to the state final. In Murphy’s free time, she enjoys running, skiing and cooking. She plans on attending Boston University next year. She is the daughter of Lee Ann and James Murphy of Millbury. T Kathryn Nelson Amanda Sebastiao Casey Silver Shrewsbury High Senior, Forward Uxbridge High Senior, Forward Bromfield School Senior, Midfielder T he 5-foot-6 Nelson returns to the Super Team for the third time after finishing her high school career with a trip to the state final. The road to that last game, including defeating Notre Dame and Westboro in the Central Mass. Tournament, she lists as her most memorable sports moments. Nelson leaves Shrewsbury as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 109 points. She was voted Central Mass. Player of the Year and is a two-time MVP of Mid-Wach A. A two-time captain, she was also a league all-star all of her four years with the Colonials. She will attend Stonehill College in the fall, where she plans to continue playing field hockey and study to become a teacher. She is the daughter of Ann and Bob Nelson of Shrewsbury. he 5-foot-6 Sebastiao led the SWCL East in scoring (22 goals, 10 assists) for the second year in a row to help coach Sheila Bernard’s team to a 13-3-4 mark. Although also a star on the Spartans’ basketball team, it is field hockey that she plans to pursue in college; She is unsure of a destination but hopes to study nursing. Included in those yearly stats were three shutouts of rival Quabbin that let Westboro claim the Mid-Wach B title and advance to the CMass final, accomplishments Nagengast lists as her most memorable. A return Super Teamer, she served as team captain this season and earned a spot in the Best of 60 Game where she received MVP honors. An all-around athlete, she also competes on the Rangers’ swimming and lacrosse squads. As a swimmer, she qualified for sectionals in the 100 butterfly her first three seasons. Nagengast plans on attending the University of New Hampshire next fall. She is the daughter of Kris and Rick Nagengast of Westboro. T he 5-foot-3 Silver earned her second straight Mid-Wach D MVP selection to help the Trojans to a 10-4-5 record and the sixth seed in the Central Mass. Division 2 Tournament. A return Super Team selection, she played in the Best of 60 Game this season. Also a member of the basketball and softball teams at Bromfield, she earned league all-star honors in softball last year. He tied for 10th in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament with a 79 at Holden Hills. He was medalist several times this year for the Pioneers. Adams has also won numerous tournaments, and he considers those victories his most memorable sports moments. This is his second year on the golf team. He also played tennis last spring for St. John’s, which was runner-up in the Central Mass. Tournament. Adams is undecided about college but he would like to go into business someday. He is the son of Katie and Greg Adams of Worcester. A ltomare is already one of the best female golfers ever to come out of Central Mass., having been a top player on the national junior circuit and having been selected for the 2006 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team. She finished second in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament, ahead of many accomplished male players. Her many non-scholastic accomplishments include winning the Westfield Junior PGA Championship, finishing first in two open AJGA events and posting a 32 in the U.S. Girls Junior. She set the course record at The International with a 66 when she was 12. Altomare is weighing her college options among Wake Forest, Florida, Virginia and Tennessee. The daughter of Kathy and Tom Altomare of Shrewsbury, she hopes to become an LPGA professional. B erry capped off his fine career with the Mountaineers by winning the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament at Holden Hills with a 1-over-par 72. His round included an eagle on the eighth hole as he defeated some of the top golfers in the district. He considers that performance his most memorable sports moment. Berry also shot a 5-under 31 in a match at Holden. The two-time Wachusett captain tied for 26th in the state tournament with an 83 at Marlboro CC. He enjoys playing all sports and relaxing with friends. Berry is undecided about college, but would like a career that involves golf and sports management. He is the son of Sharon and Robert Berry of Rutland. B Matthew Creamer Josh Feinberg Nick Flahive Taylor Fontaine St. John’s High Junior Hudson High Sophomore Westboro High Sophomore St. John’s High Senior ird’s 87 at Kettle Brook GC put him in a tie for fifth in the Central Mass. Tournament and helped give the Blue Raiders the Division 3 title, sending them to the state tournament for the fourth time in six years. The 6-foot-2 sophomore also qualified for the states with his performance. He shot a 94, good for 33rd place, in the state tournament at Wentworth Hills GC in Plainville. Bird, a Dual Valley Conference all-star, considers playing the Central Mass. and state tournaments as his most memorable sports moments. He also plays basketball for Hopedale and is hoping to play either golf or basketball in college. Bird enjoys paintball when he’s not playing sports. He is the son of Laurie and Bob Bird of Hopedale. reamer’s birdie on his first hole helped the Pioneers win their third straight state title. Creamer tied for fifth with a 77 in that tournament at Marlboro CC. He also shot a 77 and tied for fifth in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament at Holden Hills. Creamer said his most memorable sports moment was either winning the state team title or being men’s club champion at Glocester CC in Rhode Island. He is a three-time junior champion at the club. Creamer also made the cut at the Rhode Island Golf Associated stroke play championship. He is unsure about college, but wants to choose a school where he could play golf. He’s hoping to be a biomedical sales representative some day. He is the son of Erika and Mark Creamer of Sutton. einberg was just one stroke behind teammate and winner Jesse Tolan when he shot a 79 to help Hudson win the Central Mass. Division 2 title at Gardner Municipal GC. He tied for 19th in the state tournament at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown with an 83 as the Hawks finished sixth. After winning the Mid-Wach C Tournament last year at The International — an accomplishment he considers his most memorable sports moment — he was Hudson’s low scorer this season and led the team in rounds as medalist. He also plays baseball and hockey for the Hawks and enjoys skiing and snowboarding. Feinberg is hoping to play golf at a Division 1 college. He is the son of Heather and Jeff Feinberg of Hudson. he 5-foot-9 Flahive finished tied for 10th with an 8-over 79 in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament at Holden Hills, a performance that qualified him for the states and put him on the T&G Super Team. He then posted a 95 in the state tournament at Marlboro CC. This was his first year on coach Greg Rota’s golf team, and he helped the Rangers as medalist in two matches. He was captain of the freshman basketball team last year and moved up to the JV squad this season. He also played football and baseball at Westboro as a freshman. Flahive enjoys skiing and golf. He is interested in studying business or communications in college and hopes to someday work either in those fields or in sports. He is the son of Melissa and Daniel Flahive of Westboro. ontaine makes his fourth appearance on the T&G Super Team after leading their Pioneers to their third straight Division 1 state title. He carded a 76 at Marlboro CC to finish fourth in the state tournament. He qualified for the states by finishing third in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament. He posted several under-par scores this season, including a 5-under 31 at Green Hill. The 2005 Mass. Junior Player of the Year, Fontaine was one of just 64 golfers in the country to make it to match play in the U.S. Junior Amateur this summer, a feat he considers his most memorable sports moment. The son of June and James Fontaine of Southbridge, he is headed to the University of Rhode Island next year and hopes to have a career in either in golf or business. Division 3 tournament for the second straight year, shooting an 80 at Kettle Brook. He then fired a 74 at Wentworth Hills in Plainville to finish second, just two strokes behind the winner. He considers that his most memorable sports moment. The two-time T&G Super Teamer has been the Aztecs’ player of the year the last three seasons and captain the last four. Harris also played hockey as a freshman and sophomore. He enjoys playing football with friends and hopes to attend Flagler University in Florida. He wants to play Division 1 golf. He is the son of Nancy and Bruce Harris of Marlboro, his father having been a Hall of Fame football player at Hudson Catholic. A Southern Worcester County League all-star the last three years, Hart had a breakout senior season, averaging under 40 and posting even-par scores more times than ever before. He shot an 81 at Gardner Municipal GC to tie teammate Trevor Stock for third in the Central Mass. Division 2 Tournament. He followed that with an 87 in the state tournament at Waubeeka Golf Links to tie Stock and others for 15th place. His most memorable sports moment, though, was helping underdog Grafton win the SWCL tournament. Hart enjoys skiing and coaching youth basketball. He hopes to someday become an accountant and play on an amateur golf tour. The son of Kevin and Claire Hart is headed to UMass-Amherst in the fall. J ohnson, who has been playing varsity golf since seventh grade, finished third in the Central Mass. Division 3 Tournament at Kettle Brook with an 84 to make his second straight appearance on the T&G Super Team. His 85 in the state tournament at Wentworth Hills in Plainville was good for 19th place and was the second best score among Central Mass. competitors. The goal of the Sammies’ captain is to win a state title. His most memorable sports moment was making a hole-in-one at the age of 10 on the 185-yard seventh hole at Blackstone National. Besides golf, Johnson also enjoys wake boarding and water skiing. The son of Brian and Holly Johnson of Sutton, he is unsure about college. Division 1 Tournament at Holden Hills where shot a 6-over 77. He followed that performance with an 86 in the state tournament at Marlboro CC. Kowal was the Mid-Wach B co-MVP this year and co-MVP of coach Joe Duhamel’s Quabbin team. He lists winning his first tournament as his most memorable sports moment, and he hopes to someday work in the golf industry. He played junior varsity basketball for the Panthers as a freshman and sophomore and enjoys playing the guitar when not participating in sports. He is the son of Shawna and Michael Kowal of Barre. F K rull earned his spot on the T&G Super Team when he shot an 83 at Kettle Brook to finish second in the Central Mass. Division 3 Tournament, three shots behind medalist Nick Harris of Assabet. He had a 97 in the state tournament at Wentworth Hills in Plainville. He also plays hockey and baseball for the Eagles and was the starting third baseman on Tech’s baseball team, which won the Central Mass. Division 3 Tournament last spring. He considers that his most memorable sports moment. Krull enjoys playing all sports, and he hopes to be a firefighter someday. The son of Cindy and Kurt Krull of Worcester, he will attend Worcester State College in the fall. T F irkpatrick became Nashoba’s first sophomore to qualify individually for the states when he fired a 7-over 78 to tie for eighth in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament at Holden Hills. He finished his fine season with an 86 at Marlboro CC in the state tournament. Kirkpatrick had 76.5 points and an 8-5-1 record in match play for coach Dennis Bean’s Chieftains this season. He was a Fitchburg Sentinel & Enterprise all-star for the second straight year as well as making the T&G Super Team for the first time. His most memorable sports moment was being medalist in his first team match with a 39. Kirkpatrick is a member of the drama club at school, and he would like to someday be a psychologist. He’s the son of Susan and Jim Kirkpatrick of Lancaster. M S essier’s 86 in the Central Mass. Division 3 Tournament at Kettle Brook was good for fourth place and helped the Minutemen finish second to Hopedale and qualify for the states for the first time in school history. He considers the performance of his team that day as his most memorable sports moment. He shot a team-best 93 in the state tournament at Wentworth Hills in Plainville. Messier was also fourth in the Colonial Athletic League Tournament as Bay Path won the league title. This is his third year golfing for the Minutemen. He plans to attend Quinsigamond Community College and hopes to someday own a contracting business. He is the son of Christine and Robert Messier of Auburn. chmidt closed with a 35 on the back nine to card a 6-over 77 and finish fifth in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament at Holden Hills. The Rams’ MVP then shot an 87 in the state tournament at Marlboro CC. Schmidt was the Rams’ most improved player as a sophomore and outstanding team player as a freshman. He also runs track. His great grandfather played football for Boston College. Schmidt’s most memorable sports moment was winning a match after being down three holes with four to play. He is undecided about college, but would like to someday be a pharmacist or professional golfer. He is the son of Maxine Keefe and Jay Schmidt of Charlton. Ricky Stimets Trevor Stock Jonathan Tamburro Wachusett Regional Junior Grafton High Junior Marlboro High Junior timets makes his second straight appearance on the T&G Super Team after a season in which he had the lowest scoring average in school history, firing a 5-under 31 at Juniper Hill and 4-under 32 at the Mountaineers’ home course, Holden Hills. The WRHS captain tied for 10th with a 79 in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament as Wachusett was second to St. John’s. He was 17th in the state tournament with an 81. He considers winning that tournament as a sophomore his most memorable sports moment. Stimets is undecided about college but hopes to play golf at a Division 1 school. Stimets is the son of Stacey and Rick Stimets of Paxton. S tock tied for third in the Central Mass. Division 2 Tournament at Gardner Municipal GC when he fired an 81, three shots behind winner Jesse Tolan of Hudson. He completed his fine season by tying for 15th in the state tournament with an 87 at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown. Stock was a Southern Worcester County League all-star the last two years and won the SWCL Tournament at Raceway Golf Course in Thompson this fall with a 2-over 73 this season. He considers that his most memorable sports moment. Stock also plays baseball and basketball for the Indians and enjoys all sports as well as being with friends. T Jesse Tolan Connor Wentzell Hudson High Sophomore St. John’s High Senior S Tim Thiesing Grafton High Senior hiesing finished fifth in the Central Mass. Division 2 Tournament and was undefeated in match play to earn SWCL all-star honors for the third straight year. He also stars in baseball (two-time T&G division all-star and SWCL all-star) and hockey (two-time Russell Conference all-star). He pitched the Paul N. Johnson 16-year-old Senior Ruth all-stars to the New England championship in 2006, sending the team to the World Series in Arkansas, a feat he considers his most memorable sports moment. He was golf captain and medalist in six matches. Thiesing was 14th in the state tournament after posting an 86 at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown. The son of Bill and Sue Thiesing of Grafton, he is undecided about college but hopes to play baseball in school. T T olan birdied three straight holes to start the back nine at Gardner Municipal GC and won the Central Mass. Division 2 Tournament with a 7-over-par 78, one shot ahead of teammate and fellow sophomore Josh Feinberg. Their performance helped Hudson win the team title as well. Tolan considers being medalist to help his team win as his most memorable sports moment. He fired a 39 on the back nine, the best score on what was a windy day. The Mid-Wach C allstar shot a 95 in the state tournament at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown. Tolan also runs indoor track, and he enjoys playing all sports. His father set a state meet record in 1978 in the 2 mile. He is the son of Joy and Jim Tolan of Hudson. amburro tied for eighth in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament at Holden Hills with a 7-over 78, qualifying him for the states for the first time. He posted an 85 in that tournament at Marlboro CC. He was the Panthers’ co-captain and MVP this season and also a Mid-Wach B all-star. This was Tamburro’s third season on the golf team, having been the squad’s unsung hero and most improved player his first two years. His most memorable moment was sinking a 10-foot putt on the 18th hole to break 80 for the first time. When he’s not golfing, he enjoys spending time with friends. He is unsure about college but would like to work in pro golf management some day. He is the son of Judy and Ted Tamburro of Marlboro. entzell makes his second straight appearance on the T&G Super Team after helping the Pioneers win their third consecutive state title. He tied for seventh with a 78 in the Division 1 state tournament at Marlboro Country Club as St. John’s edged Barnstable for the title. Wentzell shot a 76 at Holden Hills to finish fourth in the Central Mass. Division 1 Tournament. He considers winning the inaugural FCWT Red Tail Open by three shots this summer as his most memorable sports moment. Wentzell, who also plays volleyball for the Pioneers, will attend either Harvard or Dartmouth next year. He is the son of Judy and Steve Wentzell of Worcester, and his brother, Garrett, who plays golf at Penn, was also an all-star at St. John’s. Liz Ashton Mina Baban Christina Carr Milford High Junior, Middle Blocker Westboro High Senior, Setter Westboro High Senior, Outside Hitter A shton is one of three representatives on the Super Team from the Division 1 Central-West champion Scarlet Hawks, but the only returning player with Lisa Goneau and Kristen Morcone graduating. The 5-foot-10, 150-pound Ashton was instrumental in Milford’s state semifinal win over North Quincy, finishing with 17 kills, including five straight in the fifth and final set. That thrilling win is Ashton’s most memorable sports moment. Ashton added a team-leading six kills in the state final. The two-year varsity starter compiled 243 kills, 140 blocks and 279 points this season, helping Milford go 17-3 in the regular season and 21-4 overall. She will do her best to help coach Linda Zacchilli’s team break Barnstable’s five-year title streak next season, but the task will be difficult without Goneau finishing the play on the outside and Morcone setting up the hitters. Ashton is the daughter of Patty and Rick Ashton of Milford. A t 5-foot-8, Baban holds many Ranger records, including career assists, single-season assists, and single-match assists with 54. Baban was a two-time all-state and MidWach B seelction as well as league MVP. She was recognized as the 2007 Gatorade Player of the Year, which goes to the state’s top player. Baban’s 618 assists, 88 digs, 83 kills and 41 aces were instrumental in leading the Rangers to a 23-1 record and the Division 2 state championship. Baban had 35 assists and three kills in the title victory over Bourne, which she rates as her most memorable sports moment. Baban owes many of her assists to classmates and fellow captains Christina Carr and Danielle Coffey, the two hitters from coach Roger Anderson’s squad that benefited most from Baban’s precise passing. The daughter of Connie Wedel and Farzad Baban of Westboro, Baban will study filmmaking at New York University in the fall. C Danielle Coffey Meghan Farrell Lisa Goneau Westboro High Senior, Middle Hitter Marlboro High Junior, Outside Hitter Milford High Senior, Outside Hitter arr, one of five seniors and three Super Teamers from the Rangers’ Division 2 state championship squad, was a three-year varsity starter. She was selected to three Mid-Wach B all-star teams in her impressive career. Her dominating serve played a large part in her team’s 3-0 win over Bourne High in the state final, the first state volleyball crown for Westboro that provided her most memorable moment in sports. Carr and her classmates, particularly setter Mina Baban and middle hitter Danielle Coffey, both fellow captains and Super Teamers, will be sorely missed by her coach Roger Anderson, who guided the Rangers to a 23-1 record this season. A three-year member of the outdoor track team, she will play an integral part in that team that hopes to win the class meet for the third straight year. The daughter of Carol Winn and Arthur Carr of Westboro, Carr is undecided on a college but would like to study to be a physician. ne of three Rangers represented on the Super Team, Coffey teamed with classmates and cocaptains, setter Mina Baban and outside hitter Christina Carr, to help the Rangers win the first Division 2 state championship. Coach Roger Anderson’s team relied heavily on Coffey’s play in the middle to help them finish a program-best 23-1 after a convincing sweep of Bourne in the state final. Coffey, who controlled the middle of the court at 6-foot-1, holds school records for career blocks, kills, blocks in a season and hitting percentage. This is her second appearance on the Super Team. She is not sure what college she will attend, but would like to continue to play basketball and volleyball. The daughter of Sandy and Kevin Coffey of Westboro, Coffey has been a member of the basketball and volleyball teams all four years and has been voted to numerous all-star teams in both sports. arrell helped the Panthers compile a 13-7 regular-season record and advance to the quarterfinals of the Division 2 Central Tournament, where they fell to finalist Medfield. This is the first Super Team appearance for the 5-foot-8 hitter. Farrell is a manager for the boys’ volleyball team, and in her spare time she enjoys working out and training to hone her skills on the court. Her career goals lie in the scientific field, where she hopes to be a part of the continuing advancement of science. She has already been voted captain of next year’s team by coach Peter Lepore. The daughter of Diana and Mike Farrell of Marlboro, her most memorable sports moment was when her team came back from 0-2 to beat North Middlesex. The Panthers beat North Attleboro in the first round of the tournament and finished 14-8. oneau, at 5-foot-6, is one of three Scarlet Hawks on the team. With classmate Kristen Morcone doing the setting and junior Liz Ashton blocking in the middle, Goneau completed the trio by compiling 250 kills, 49 aces, 120 digs and 335 points in the regular season. A three-year varsity starter, Goneau was a key component of a Scarlet Hawk team that has achieved great success under coach Linda Zacchilli, including a 21-4 record this season. Her most memorable sports moment was making it to the Division 1 state final this season against Barnstable. She was honored as team cocaptain and received all-star recognition, as well as being presented team awards such as “most dedicated” and “best sportswoman.” With interests that include piano, snowboarding and traveling, Goneau would like to attend college close to home at Assumption. The daughter of Maria and Stephen Goneau of Milford is undecided about her career objectives. Sarah Hebert Rebecca Krygsman Becky Lebel Sutton High Senior, Outside Hitter Whitinsville Christian Senior, Setter Blackstone Valley Tech Junior, Middle Hitter ebert had 10 aces and seven kills in the Suzies’ win over Millbury in the first round of the Division 3 Central Mass. Tournament, a match that she considers to be a turning point for her team and her most memorable sports moment. The 5-foot-6 Hebert is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named captain of the volleyball team along with the indoor and outdoor track teams for her senior year. Hebert holds records in the 200 and 300 meters and has earned Dual Valley Conference all-star nods for her accomplishments on the track. In the fall, she will attend Northeastern University and hopes to own and run her own business someday. Her interests include running, cooking and reading. Coached by Donna Coonan, she is the daughter of Brian and Cheryl Hebert of Sutton. K rygsman, at 5-foot-51⁄2, was named team MVP as the Crusaders finished as the top independent team in Central Mass,. with a 17-3 regular season record under coach Maxine Wheelock. The season was a success despite being upset by 12th-seeded Ashland in a Division 3 Central quarterfinal Krygsman, a winner of the sportsmanship award in 2006 and two-time co-captain, has been accepted into Nova Southeastern University and Calvin College. She enjoys art and hopes to become an optometrist. Her older sister, Annika, is a graduate of Worcester State, where she played volleyball, basketball and track. Eschewing any individual achievements or accolades she has received, Rebecca’s fondest and proudest sports memory is being part of a tight-knit team with a strong coach. The daughter of Len and Pam Krygsman of Northbridge, she is an honor roll student who received high honors last year. L O H F Kristen Morcone Jewel White Milford High Senior, Setter Doherty High Senior, Middle Hitter orcone, a two-time captain and Super Teamer, was the catalyst for the Division 1 state runner-up Scarlet Hawks, amassing more than 1,200 assists over the past two seasons. The 5-foot-5 Morcone finished with a staggering 700 assists this past season, to go with 135 service points and 205 points in her team’s 21-4 campaign. She was a four-year starter and one of three Scarlet Hawks to make the Super Team under coach Linda Zacchilli. The lone setter for Milford, she recalls her team’s victory over North Quincy in five games in the state semifinals as her most memorable sports moment, a match in which Morcone served the final five points. Morcone was a T&G Division 1 all-star last season as captain of Milford’s softball team. She enjoys playing the trumpet, and she will attend and play softball at L.I.U.-C.W. Post next fall. She is the daughter of Fran and Len Morcone of Milford. M ebel, already a three-year varsity starter who was Rookie of the Year in the Colonial Athletic League in 2005, captained her team to its first undefeated regular season (20-0). Although the Beavers were upset in the Division 3 Central quarterfinals, Barbara King’s team has reason to be optimistic for next season, as Lebel returns to a team filled with underclassmen. Lebel, at 5-foot-7, led the Beavers in kills and blocks. She is an active member of the student council, aviation club, Skills USA, SEA Club and the National Honor Socitey, while also playing on the softball and basketball teams. Her favorite sports moment was her team’s victory in the State Vocational Large School championship game over Shawsheen Tech, a match in which the versatile Lebel compiled 11 service points, 16 kills and 15 digs to lead her team to its first large schools title. She is the daughter of Linda and Richard Lebel of Millbury. hite, captain of this year’s Highlanders and a four-year varsity starter, played a major role in Doherty’s lengthy league winning streak over her first three seasons. The Highlanders went 9-0 in the Inter-High this season to capture their third league championship of White’s career. Doherty, coached by Phil Spellane, went 12-6 in the regular season to qualify for the Division 1 Central/ West Tournament, where it lost in the first round to North Middlesex. The 6-foot White is also a four-year starter for the Highlanders basketball team, where she garnered Super Team honors last year as captain. White, who will attend Franklin Pierce College, considers basketball her best sport but would love to play both basketball and volleyball in college. She enjoys going out with her friends.
