AL ANNU Monday, November 10, 2008 Proceeds Benefit Best of the Batch Foundation’s Reading and Computer Literacy Programs. batchfoundation.org Welcome I’m proud to host another fun-filled, exciting night at our 2nd Annual In The Pocket fundraising event. I’ve created a unique event where guest will have the opportunity to interact, play ping-pong, pool, poker and shop a great auction with Pittsburgh sport stars and celebrities … all for a worthy cause! The proceeds from tonight’s event will benefit the reading & computer literacy programs at my foundation — Best of the Batch Foundation. Statistics still show reading and test scores in the schools are down around the country. Our children today are picking up a mouse instead of a book after school. Why not help them excel in something they enjoy doing that can enhance their education through computer literacy. Last years event help build a 26 station computer lab for our community to enhance reading and computer skills all because of YOU! I’m glad that you have joined me, my teammates and other celebrities for a night of entertainment. As you’re eating, drinking, bidding, mingling and hopefully winning … remember it’s because of people like you that help me make the youth of our future the Best of the Batch. Thanks for all your support and I hope to see you again next year! NOW LET THE GAMES BEGIN! 2 DID YOU COMPLETE YOUR DOOR PRIZE RAFFLE TICKET WHEN YOU CAME IN? ClubHouse Corner 2000 West Street Munhall, PA 15120 batchfoundation.org 8 Game Rules 8 BALL POOL Step One: Step Two: Step Three: Step Four: Step Five: Step Six: Put balls 1 to 9 on the table. Rack balls 1 to 8 in a diamond shape with the 1-ball in front. Put the 9-ball in the middle of the diamond shape. Break. Shoot at the lowest number ball on the table. Shoot at the next-highest number ball if you sink the first ball. Step Seven: End your turn if you hit the ball but don't sink it, or if you miss the ball entirely. Step Eight: Let your opponent take his or her turn by placing the cue ball anywhere on the table to line up a shot. Step Nine: Continue shooting in turn until the 9-ball is sunk. Texas Hold-em Betting Rounds Step One: The dealer deals each player their own two cards face-down (pocket cards) Step Two: 1st betting round Step Three: The dealer burns a card then turns over three community cards face-up (the flop) Step Four: 2nd betting round Step Five: The dealer burns another card then turns over 1 more community card (the turn, 4th street) Step Six: 3rd betting round Step Seven: The dealer burns another card then turns over 1 final community card (the river, 5th street ) Step Eight: Last betting round Step Nine: Showdown (Every remaining player shows hand with bettor showing first) 9 PING PONG Celebrity Players Serve First! Be the first one to score 15 points to win. In the event of a tie, a player must win by two points. What you should know: On all shots, the ball must strike your end of the table before landing on your opponent's side of the table. If the sequence of shots is disrupted a point will be awarded to the player not in error for any of the following reasons: - The ball misses the table. - The ball goes into the net without landing on the other side. - The ball is not struck by your paddle. - The ball bounces on your side twice. Each player serves the ball five times, then the server switches. While serving, if the ball hits the net and continues on to the other side, it is called a "let" and the point is replayed. 10 Pool Tables | Pool Cues | Pool Table Lights Game Room Accessories | Juke Boxes Game Tables | Bars & Stools Game Room Furniture 3221 Babcock Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15237 Toll Free 1.800.464.5198 412.366.1699 2520 Washington Rd., Rt. 19 Canonsburg, PA 15317 724.743.3720 westpennbilliards.com Proud Sponsor of IN THE POCKET WITH CHARLIE BATCH!
