8:00-9:00 am: Diagnosing, Treating, and Reversing Prostate Cancer with Nutritional Intervention:
Robert Bard, MD
It is well established that prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests and digital rectal exams have low accuracy in diagnosing
prostate cancer. In addition, low grade prostate cancers have 1% mortality over 15 years.Non-invasive vascular imaging
using ultrasound and MRI, however, effectively demonstrate a cancer’s aggression with 95% accuracy, and may help
avoid biopsies. Dr. Bard will discuss this more accurate form of diagnosis in detail along with the nutritional therapies
he employs, which have shown an 80% stabilization and/or regression rate in low and medium grade prostate malignancies.
If you work with prostate cancer patients, this is a presentation that cannot be missed.

10:30-12:00 noon: Nutrition and the Autonomic Nervous System: Nicholas Gonzalez, MD
Pioneering researchers such as Dr. Francis Pottenger Sr., Royal Lee, and Dr.William Kelley have proposed over the last 90
years that much if not all disease has at its roots dysfunction and imbalance in the autonomic nervous system (ANS).
The ANS consists of those peripheral motor neurons that reach all tissues, organs and glands, and essentially regulate all
metabolism and physiological function, from respiration, cardiovascular activity, digestion, from the mouth to the rectum,
the secretion of hormones, the rate of metabolism and temperature regulation. The ANS consists of two branches: the
sympathetic and parasympathetic, each with a distinctive anatomy, physiology, and neurotransmitter chemistry. The two
branches work in opposition from minute to minute, ideally helping to maintain homeostatic equilibrium 24 hours a
day. Building on the work of Drs.Pottenger,Lee and Kelley,Dr.Gonzalez believes that some patients have an overly strong
sympathetic system and correspondingly weak parasympathetic division, others a strong parasympathetic and weak
sympathetic system.Such imbalance sets the stage for all manner of disease, from vision problems to cancer.
In his talk,Dr.Gonzalez will discuss how specific foods, their constituents including proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins,
minerals, and trace elements each influence autonomic function, and how the proper choice of diet and supplements
can help bring an out of balance autonomic set of nerves back into balance, with resulting improved biochemical
and physiological activity and ultimately optimal health.

1:30-2:45 pm: Coaching Your Patient to Weight Loss Success: Jonny Bowden, PhD, CNS
Nutritionists are superb at analyzing diets and providing important information about weight control to their clients,
but often hit roadblocks when it comes to motivating clients to follow that advice on a consistent basis. Life coaches
are uniquely skilled at uncovering obstacles to success and helping clients craft strategies that work, but are woefully
ignorant about nutrition and health. The art and science of Weight Loss Coaching draws upon techniques from both
professions. In his presentation, Jonny will show you novel ways of interacting with clients that can help them lose
weight and transform their lives permanently at the same time.
Jonny Bowden, PhD, CNS is a nationally known expert on weight loss, nutrition, and health who has appeared on
CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, ABC-TV, NBC-TV, CBS-TV, Martha Stewart Living, and Oprah and Friends. He writes regularly

3:15-4:45 pm: The Endocrine Effects of Exercise: Hormonal vs. Caloric Weight Loss: Jade Teta ND,
CSCS and Keoni Teta ND, LAc, CSCS
Exercise can no longer be viewed through the lens of calories.Muscle is,after all,an endocrine organ.Metabolic signaling
molecules released from muscle tissue, called myokines, have profound impact on metabolic function. The direct endocrine
effects of muscle are complimented by indirect hormonal responses from exercise.Exercise, like food, supplies information
to the body. When we exercise, we are downloading a hormonal software program into the body that will determine
whether we burn or store fat, turn inflammation on or off,and elicit growth or decay. In this presentation, theTeta brothers
will discuss in detail the new science of movement and its dramatic impact on body composition and caloric metabolism.
Participants will learn how to prescribe exercise for its hormonal effects on impact body composition and disease, and
learn how to use correct forms of exercise to dramatically improve the health of their patients.
Jade Teta ND, CSCS and Keoni Teta ND, LAc, CSCS are brothers and the creators and founders of the Metabolic
Effect workout, nutrition, and lifestyle program. They are naturopaths and strength and conditioning specialists who
work as general practitioners and personal trainers specializing in hormonal fat loss. They are in private practice at the
Naturopathic Health Clinic of North Carolina, one of the leading natural health centers in the state. They have a combined
30 years in the fitness industry and 15 in the field of holistic medicine. They have performed over 10,000 workouts
with clients of all ages and fitness levels from elite athletes to the elderly and frail. They write a regular column called

8:00-11:00 am: Collaborative Oncology: An Introduction to the Eclectic Triphasic Medical System
(ETMS), a Clinical Holistic Approach to Cancer Care Utilizing Botanical and Nutritional Medicine as
Targeted Therapies: Donnie Yance, MH, CN
Donnie will discuss a unique approach to using natural medicine to approach cancer which uses a multi-lens investigation
to examine the patient’s constitutional energetics, endogenous and exogenous factors, and specific biomarkers from
blood, pathology, and tissue testing. This information is then used to strategically design protocols to alter the individual’s
biological terrain, including gene behavior and expression, so that it is conducive to health and vitality while actively
suppressing disease.
